1. Thought this went on Facebook in about 5 seconds flat Dan, or was it another dreamer ?
2. Thanks for the review The Daivisch. They looked quite good on paper. Not sure of the GB Contour head, but I know with the Streamliner there is no issue with volume. Only reason I'm looking at moving mine on is I now have a Schroeder cab and Jorg really does endorse EICH (hence looking for a TecAmp PUMA). I was really surprised with the jump in perceived volume when I changed from Barefaced to Schroeder, although had to EQ completely differently for the Schro. Plenty of excellent used heads for sale on here. Is it perhaps worth taking your head into a shop or a bass bash and trying your head with different cabs? Thanks again, cheers, Karl.
3. Keep this, sell me the Fender 60th and I'll go stay at my mother's in Mowden (BIG brownie points)
4. Jolly poor form boy, I expect high entertainment from your humourous adverts
5. Right Tom, pay attention, I shall zay zis only wernce. It's not a Telecaster neck. Part of the evidence is that it says PRECISION on the headstock . As Jono rightly pointed out, it's from a CV 50's Precision. In this case, maple board on maple neck (now discontinued, replaced by White Blond). Folks call these a Telecaster headstock, but it's actually the original early 50's headstock style. This headstock style was brought back into production around '67 with the release of the Telecaster bass. Since then it's been used on all sorts of basses.
6. Nice one Rhys, appreciated
7. Very nice Tom. Looks like this one's gone (not surprising ). Next.
8. Thanks Gareth, very kind of you
9. Thanks Gavin, yup, simple bass but well made and specced. This was theoretically sold, with collection today. A young guy on Facebook. It came as no real surprise when he backed out late last night. So, still currently here. Well set up, frets fettled, good sound, nice neck and weight. Looks great with or without scratchplate. All opinions of course Cheers, Karl.
10. Email from GAK tonight. £300 off American Standards, because the range IS being discontinued, from Fender's own "mouth".
11.
It possibly could be but it doesn't seem that way. The neck plate has not serial number etc, but that said I guess striping the body could reveal more? I don't know? Open to any advise if anyone has anything to check! But I've priced it hopefully at a price that reflects it isn't considered to be original, if that makes sense....
Why not put a thread up on the Fender community forum, asking for thoughts? There are some VERY long term Fender folk on there.
12.
That's expensive - I'd be wanting a 1m wide roll for that price.
Everyone's a critic
13. I bought a roll from B & Q a couple of years back. http://www.diy.com/departments/04008590-cs-bio-bubblewrap-500mm-x-100m-roll/1120598_BQ.prd Still not quite finished it, despite best efforts
14. Many thanks Gareth, Andy, Tom and Rich. It is a lovely bass but I'm looking at getting an expensive paint job, plus hardware, to create a sort of custom shop LPB, matching headstock, gold hardware 50's kinda thing. It'll still be worth nowt but it'll look good Must admit, bit disappointed the 'plate turned out so dark. But only myself to blame
15. Fender Mike Dirnt, 2008 made in Mexico. THIS is not a heavy bass at 9lb 4oz. These don't seem to come up very often. Before they were discontinued in 2013, they were pushing £800 new. The current Mex Road Worn model is over £1200 new. I have sprayed the white plastic scratchplate with 8 coats of gold and 6 coats of lacquer. Sadly, due to me being the Frank Spencer of DIY, I can't guarantee the paint won't explode off the scratchplate. ISSUES. The BadAss was replaced with a splendid Gotoh. Couple of dints on the headstock. Fender deluxe gigbag with the usual knackered zips. I've just spent £80 with Richie Tomson, full set up, fret level, fret dress. Neck is not baseball, it's 42mm nut, slightly deeper than normal C profile. Reason for sale is to fund customisation elsewhere. TRADES, immaculate PUMA 900 Spec and reviews http://www.musicians...-precision-bass £450 collected from Wigan (or meetup within40 miles) £475 UK insured courier. Any trial in Wigan, feedback at bottom of thread. It will be cleaned before it goes. Thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. 16. Where are you based please? Would you courier at buyers cost? Folk would like to know
17. NOW £300 collected from Wigan, £320 couriered mainland UK. PLEASE NOTE, if there is a problem with images, it seems to be because Photobucket are having ongoing problems. Just pm me please. One of these fellas. Streamliner Series | GENZ BENZ Issues A few scratches so not immaculate. As with many of these, the blue backlight LEDS come on if, when and how they feel like it. Reason for sale, I now have a fabulous Schroeder cab (thanks Brian) and Jorg (Schroeder) reckons TECAMP/EICH go perfect with his cabs. Be rude not to try , right? Comes with a seriously beat up but functional hard case. £325 collected from Wigan. Feedback at bottom, any trial in Wigan. Many thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. 18. Sorry to hear about health probs again Tom, take care of yourself. Beautiful (and very tempting) bass and a world class bloke. Good luck fella.
19. One of these
20. As with all these bassists (Chowney/Konig/Whitley etc) getting their ideal basses made for them, to their spec, in China, it's unlikely to end up as a massive corporate business for them. The $/£ rate is now a massive issue as well (today I've seen an American STANDARD Jazz, £1700 new on FEEBAY). The only way prices can be reasonable is through economy of scale SO I think it's unlikely there will be a lot of scope for them to arrive at your door custom specced. I personally think if Jow managed half a dozen Sonic Blue in both 5 and 4 string, even that's a risk for him. It's him that's having to fork out his money with no guarantee of sales. My personal spec would be Sea Foam Green 4 with J neck profile and a maple board. In a way I wish I hadn't started this because I've put Jow in an almost impossible position trying to please everybody. There are perhaps half a dozen folk stating an interest, but all with slight variances. Couple of observations. 40 years ago some of us were slagging Japanese off as poor copies. Quite a lot of folk, over the last few years, have been waxing very positively about Chinese made Fenders, especially CV stuff. Sorry Jow
21. Fabulous basses, tonally so versatile. Enjoy
22. Oh dear, what to do . I love my Streamliner. But I love these as well, mainly because of the simplicity. I know what would happen. Streamliner up, PUMA sells 1st, it's almost the law
23. So it's a £500 piece of wall art you occasionally fondle I'd be putting the photos up in "Basses for sale" about now. But that's me, no class
24. Matt, I'm so sorry, with the comms elsewhere, I didn't put 2 + 2 together . Ahem, moving swiftly on. Matt was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Great comms, decisive, funds arrangement bang on, another credit to Basschat. Fully recommended by me (currently auditioning for Quasimodo, no make up required, me, not Matt). Enjoy the bass and thanks for everything, cheers, Karl.
