1. Amazing isn't it Tim. Usually matched headstock basses at decent prices fly out. Guess they must be "so last year" Bump for a great bass and a great bloke. GLWTS
 2. Probably yes, if two folk REALLY WANT one each. I'm just a bit twitchy about being left with one 8 ohm 400watt cab which is not enough for my needs (no fnarr fnarr thank you ). Will let you know definitely tomorrow chaps, reason being there is SUPPOSEDLY a chap coming to try my Limelight jazz tonight, so hopefully I will need them for him. Hopefully this one will turn up, 3rd time lucky! IF 2 folk want one each, £325 each including cover delivered to Martin and Beefy Thanks for the interest, Karl.
 3.
I am afraid that without a good set of photographs and a full and detailed description of your bass nobody will be interested in even considering a purchase. You are asking a lot of money for the bass and so you really must give good information especially when you are a new member of the forum.
Actually a member for 2 years and 8 months. Might be an idea to do a search on your model bass and also some of the top quality adverts in the "Basses for sale " section. A good advert will be a massive aid to a sale, as will excellent pictures and any evidence of provenance. EDIT. Following link is nothing to do with me. It is for a low price bass but the member has put effort into crafting an EXCELLENT advert (just a random one, from many) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/254740-fs-washburn-idol-wb66-les-paul-style-single-cut-4-string/ Comments are just to help you, good luck with your sale, Karl.
 4. Two of these cabs, excellent condition about 2 years old. Made in Italy, weight 30lbs each, both 8 ohm 400 watts both with Roqsolid covers. I bought these last year for a new project which is doing a few (very few!) festivals this year. Turns out these festivals will all have backline. Now I bought these to look better on big stage than a Barefaced S12V would. Now, it makes not a toss of difference hence, I WOULD LIKE TO TRADE THESE for a Barefaced Gen 3 Super Twin, must be in excellent condition. I will sell them both for £650 the pair, including the 2 Roqsolid covers I had made for them.Prefer collection from Wigan ,or meet up within 80 miles of Wigan free of charge. If needed will courier both for £35 extra (UK only). Sorry,no PAINPal. Cash on collection or cleared bank transfer or cheque. And now the ever challenging get photos up bit Cheers, Karl. EDIT. It has been pointed out to me these are available at £400 each, new. Those are made in Indonesia. These Italian cabs were well over £600 each, new. 5. I had a go on this at Ash's gaff and it sounds superb! Both with a jazz and a Rick. GLWTS my friend, cracking bit of kit.
 6. These look fantastic, was seriously lusting after the last one that was up GLWTS
 7. Although technically illegal, cream pearloid would look nice but hey, whatevaaaar http://www.originalscratchplates.com/
 8. This is the bass mine was modelled on. I asked for exactly the same spec, just in Sea Foam. Good luck with the sale Alex. Cheers, Karl.
 9.
As promised a couple of pics of my 4000 note the set neck only produced for a short time. The tuners are replacements apart from one of the 'wavy' Grovers. It has been refinished as you can see some of the old burgundy paint job through the dings. In the last pic it sits next to my similar era shortscale 3000 bass. This is a bolt on neck 'student' bass that has the loudest pickup ever!
Oh Lordy Ash. Expect to come home to a ram raided house
 10. Despite what the arbiters of poor taste mumble about, the law is quite clear. In the UK, only 2 kinds of scratchplate are legal; Tort Gold anodised.
 11. Brilliant, well done indeed!
 12. Interesting this. I've just pre ordered a new Steve Harris. After a lot of should I/shouldn't I. The chances of getting one within 40 miles of Wigan are very low, even after they arrive for UK release. Cheapest UK pre order I could find was £948. Thomann pre order last Monday, £851. Thomann pre order today, £812 I have bitten the bullet. Will be interesting to see what happens with delivery in April, in terms of price. Cheers,Karl.
 13.
I'm surprised the Flying Shuttle is still open - it looks pretty run down these days and it's almost getting eaten up by an ever expanding shopping mall. Good luck with he gig - I hope they advertise it properly, I will let a few of my musician friends know!
Yeah, the other band I'm in did it just before Christmas. The bouncer said since the nightclub had been demolished that side of the town is dead. Troyen chose it to re-debut because Glen is a great kid, good with the in house pa. In house pa means Troyen don't need to take one. If your muso pals do come, tell them not to expect too much, and thanks for the thought. Cheers, Karl.
 14. Fabulous, so rare you see the Japan 75 MAPLE board up for sale. I know I shouldn't, but go on, what's the weight please
 15. CD'S arrived at little drummer boys an hour ago. I'm 56, I should be a lot more chilled about all this
 16.
Sorry I'm late with this but I've just realise one of my sideline bands does it's first gig tomorrow night in Stalybridge. https://www.facebook...6753855?fref=ts Ta Les
Good luck and enjoy Les.
Just found this thread, hope you like funk, this is pretty new band. https://missioncreep.squarespace.com
You might like to change that to a Facebook link.
 17.
I'll troyen make it Hope it all goes well for you Karl. I seem to remember seeing Troyen at the Cotton Tree in Bolton back in the day.
Yup Mr Zed, they did there with original bassist Dave Strathern
I'm there Karl. I'll see if some of the guys from Slander are free too.
Bugger off, you lot are famous AND good!
 18. You know when you get that "oh bugger, I shouldn't have done that" feeling...............
 19.
What time are you picking me up Karl ?
Sorry Les, wish I could but all 4 vehicles full I'm afraid.
 20.
Karfler you highlight an important point through your experience. If you use a payal account, you should ALWAYS use it with a credit card and NEVER a bank account The credit card gives you an extra level of protection as your experience highlights - had you used paypal with a bank account it is doubtful whether you would have got your money back
A close escape for me Gareth, my lesson learned.
 21. Last summer, after a few folk pestered them on Faecesbook, a short lived band from the early 80's reformed. Troyen. After a while, the original bassist couldn't commit. Fast forward to this Sunday, the 1st gig after 32 years, to launch their 1st CD, mainly old stuff but a couple penned in the last few months. This gig is also a free entry warm up to the first of the few festival gigs they have been asked to do (Brofest3 is the 1st at the end of Feb). Would be great if any from Basschat appeared, The Flying Shuttle, in Bury, on Sunday 1st February at 3pm. For the 1st time in years I'm bricking it. https://www.facebook...151193764899569 Would be great to see, er, anyone
 22. How did I miss that bit about the case in post #1. Age I guess Yes, I think we would be chatting if my Limelight went. GLWTS
 23.
Well Squire's sound is only one example of a Ric sound, but generally you'll struggle to get that exact sound out of anything after '72, and to be honest you'd be struggling even then. A very light bass with the thinnest neck ever, with a 1/2" toaster and a genuine horseshoe and different value pots (and Chris Squire playing it) is not likely to sound the same as a typical mid '70s or later bass. Different neck instruction, different pickups, pots, weight, you name it. Even my 2 '72s, with essentially the same pickups, pots and weight as each other, don't sound too alike.
Quite right that man!
Seems like this Rick is a winner for you Karl - glad to hear it! I have my sights on the new 4003S I prefer the unbound look and contouring. My main bass now is a '75 Rick 4000 mono with a set as opposed to through neck. It's bloody luverly
I know where you live Ash it's still in my Sat Nag . Always wanted a 4000 In all seriousness the 4004 has relegated my beloved FSR P/J to second and the Limelight to third. Muchess thank 'ees
 24.
I briefly owned a 4004 a few years back, in red and gold... I wanted to love it, but it just felt terrible - the neck was this massive shapeless thing. Really wide too. Apparently they have a neck with the same dimensions as the current 4003, which would make for a far more pleasurable experience! My other complaint was that it didn't really have 'that' sound, the sound I want from a rickenbacker. Not really the fault of the bass, I know. I still think they look utterly gorgeous though.
Interesting. Mine is a 2012, wide-ish neck but not as wide as many 4001/3's that I have had. Slim profile back to front. The whole Rick sound to me is a bit of a misnomer. When you put in studio work, effects pedals, strings, technique, amp/amps there is a lot that goes into making that Rick sound. Even with a couple of early 70's Ricks I struggled to get a sound like Squires. Mebbe it's just that I'm sh*te. This 4004 will do anything from JPJ to 'Arry with just tweeks of the rotaries. That'll do me.
 25. Ah, gold old Whittles
