1. Great basses they are - have only owned the Skyline versions myself, a Daryl Jones and a Bob Glaug and they are both excellent. The US models are particulary highly rated - no doubt there will be a few owners along soon to give you more info P
 2. I ordered two sets of DR Hi-Beams strings for my new Spector 5, from Strings and Beyond, last Wednesday at 9:00 PM. I received an email an hour later telling me that they had been dispatched. They dropped through the letter box this morning (Tuesday). The cost for 2 sets of 5 strings DR's was $54.98 + $ 14.95 total $ 69.93 and my account was debited £38.59 That's £ 19.30 a set delivered - chepest I could get them in UK was £35 They included a complementary Dean Markley polishing cloth. Can't say fairer that that.... http://www.stringsandbeyond.com/bagust.html

 6.
Ive been quoted £35 inc some new Rotosound short scales for my Les Paul Bass (see Gear Porn... mmm). So thats a pretty good quote, really then?
That's a very good price if they do it properly. A setup at the Bass Gallery is £30 - that's my benchmark

 8. I've never been to any bass shop in Bristol, however, I did recently buy a new Spector from Bristol Reverb, by phone. I called the shop and initially spoke to a guy called Ben, who gave me details on what was available. I called back 10 minutes later this time speaking to Joe who completed the transaction and said that he would call back in ten minutes to confirm that everything had gone through, he also explained that as it was now 5:30 PM the bass would be sent next day. He called again the following day (Thursday) to confirm that bass was packaged and ready to go and checked that there would be someone home on the Friday to receive it, also explained that they don't like to sent the receipt along with an expensive bass and that it would be sent separately. Bass arrived on Friday in perfect condition and I got a call on Saturday from Joe to confirm that it had arrived safe and well and that I was happy etc. On Monday the receipt arrived in the post. What more can you ask for in terms of communication and customer service ? P
 9. Does the amp hum wherever its placed ? - the hum can be caused by electrical interference such as low voltage lights.
