3.
Not sure if you mean the whole rig but if you do, you're looking at about £1600-1700 new if you have the footswitch for the head (as I do) and about £600 for the cab on it's own. I bought what you see in the photo used in mint condition for about a grand. Money very well spent. By the way, the head runs at 2 ohms and I'm so tempted to hear what it would sound like with a second 2x12 - now that would be a proper rig.
looking at the bassmerchant site it would be £1388 delivered, for the rig including footswitch (£799 for head including footswitch and £589 for the cab, this includes delivery) http://www.bassmerchant.com/manufacturers....37&offset=6 and darren has been known to do a deal for a Basschatter...
4.
My favourite Chaka tale... This is going back about 10/15 years ago. Chaka Khan entered the kareoke contest at North Harrow Superbowl, singing her own song. She was disqualified. I WISH I'd kept the local paper article for that as no one ever believes me.
And the North harrow Superbowl has been bulldozed now - that's all the evidence gone !
5.
Haven't heard anything and transport seems much better today so hopefully everything will be all ok for tonight. On a train at the moment listening to the live album again - very loud through some 'bass friendly' 'phones - Gouche is just great accompaniment for a snowy journey
Called the O2 Empire (020 8354 3300 ) earlier and they said the show was definitely on tonight They said Chaka should be on stage about 9:00
6.
i had an MTD kingston fretless 5, and cannot recomend it highly enough, superb instrument in every respect. deeply regret selling it as they're like hens teeth it seems. i think the market is limited for reasonably priced 5 string fretless basses. you seem to have the uber-cheap ebay stuff, then nothing really of note till you edge towards the grand mark. and i don't think your alone with your budget because 2nd hand examples always seem to fetch good prices. so..um.. good luck
Think there's a fretted one in the for sale section for £375 - having that de fretted wouldn't cost a lot more.. An Ibanez GWB would also be within budget
7. I recently sold a bass to Ville and can say that he was excellent to deal with. Payment was quick and shipping to Finland was no more difficult that shipping within UK Highly recommended
8.
No gig last night - had to cancel it because the guitarist was too ill . At the last minute, he sent a very long text telling us about his stomach bug that he'd had all week and asking me to call the gig and give them the bad news. He couldn't do it himself for some reason so I sent a text back saying I couldn't do it either cos I'd lost my voice...ahem. So he text'd me back saying he'd get his wife to do it. Next thing, I get a text from the singer telling us that the gig was cancelled and the guitarist had asked him to cancel it. That's at least 3 text messages asking other people to do the dirty work for him. Too ill to ring the gig? Er...let's hope it's nothing serious like cholera, ebola or black water fever
Still Al, guess that put paid to any regrets you may have about the band breaking up!
9. I was expecting a more interesting photo collection tbh I think an additional shoot is required!
10. Glad to hear that you got the Vampyre. Re the 5 string white stingray @ £499 in the earlier posts - i was speaking to the manager of the guitar dept in one of the Reverb branches just after this saga and I mentioned that me and a few other had just missed out on this 'bargin'. He said 'Yeah that one went really quickly - it was bought by a member of staff' Then reacting to the pause on my end of the phone added 'he just got the email tha same as anybody else'. I said, 'well looks like he flipped it on eBay straight away' the guy was losted for words at that point P

13.
I stand corrected I had no idea she'd adopted us as a home - she always feels so much like a classic 'larger than life' American legend! I'm listening to her '08 live album right now. I think it's Andrew Gouche on bass, cracking band all round
Yeah, I was suprised too - saw her on some chat show last year and she was talking about having been living in London for many years. I just got me a ticket for the February gig - might see you there!

Bought a bass from Garbev recently and would happily recommend him to anyone. Nice easy transaction
15. "Coming to london" She still lives in London
16. I collected a bass from Steve last week, in a smooth simple transaction. He was quite tolerant as I changed my mind about three times, before I decided to buy! P
17. You'll only see the recommended price listed now. I expect discounted prices will follow soon
18. Another fan of TC gear here, I use the Konnekt Live! audio interface (which has a nice compressor and reverb too) Very mush like the Rebelhead in apperance, also. I'm happy with my Shuttle 6, though will be interested to hear the feedback on the 'Rebel'
19. Now sold....... to another Basschatter
20. Bought a Genz Benz footswitch and carry bag from the Horse recently, he dragged himself off his sick bed to get to the Post office too, or so he told me .... Cheers Nick !
