1. Lovely! What speakers are in them?? Pity you're right up country.
2. Bump.....
3. You've played it and know how good it sounds Russ.....
4. 62 AVRI Jazz. I believe this was made in 1999. Ive had it less than a year and I'm only selling to fund andother P bass! This is a lovely bass finished in black nitro. All the usal 62RI stuff - reverse tuners, stack knobs etc. I only have one of the PU covers (bridge). There are a couple of small scuffs to the finish, one of which is on the back of the neck and is only aesthetic. I dont feel it when playing. The case is quite tatty but does the job. More pictures here: http://s237.photobuc...!cpZZ1QQtppZZ16 Im in London and would prefer collection. No trades. Message me for any more info.
5. I regret selling my 15E and always thought about using two together. What amp are you using and what sound are you going for Pete?
6.
Ampeg used to do a "small" valve head, was it the V-4B? Get's confusing as I think it was a new model but using an old amp's name... There's a piccie here >> Might be worth seeing if you could pick one of them up. I think a second hand Trace Twin Valve would fit the bill nicely though if you can find one. I still think the EBS is stupidly overpriced, god knows who'll actually buy one, for less money you could get an Ashdown Little Bastard and an OK PA System! Eude
Its an Ampeg V4BH. 100w, 4x6L6. Lovely tone on these. I have the AV version.
7. I love the 410 HE, especially with a GK700RBII !!
8. I'll buy if it all falls through.......
9.
Evenings for Thursday and Friday are sorted, but situation with Wednesday is not so good - can't seem to find a decent gig or a jam session that night..
Weds night blues jam at the Coach and Horses in Leyton. Best blues jam in town.
10. Ive got the 760M 1954 set on my 78P. I can only describe the tone and feel as 'meaty'!
11. Love that burns - Green's Fleetwood Mac.
12.
I had an AMPEG V4BH-LOVELY amp but unless I was running it thru a very efficient cab with a lotta drivers- I wasn't getting the sort of volume U say U R After. If I ran it thru a SVT810 cab- LOUD enough. Thru MY Berg NV610 cab loud enough. But ANYTHING Less-nope!!!!!
Did you ever try the V4BH with an Ampeg 610HLF? Just interested.....
13. PM'd
14.
And then of course there are the amps...
I use an Ampeg 15E with my V4BH head sometimes - lovely vintage thump!!!!
15. 78 Precision all the time. I still haven't played a bass with an action like it. I love the 'B' neck, punchy pickup and its a nice weight. Its strung with 110 La Bella flats and I'll never get rid of this one.
16.
I love Phil Lynott's bass but I reckon it would just be easier getting a black P and whipping a mirror pickguard on it! Job done!
I agree, its purely cosmetic. I think for a sig bass to be worthwhile there has to be something non-standard about it. Theres be quite a bit of talk about a Carl Radle Fender sig. P bass, body and electrics, J bass neck with inlay markers. Still easilly done as a DIY job though. The thing with personalised/custom build bass's is that they were done to suit that player and while the idea is attractive to many it doesn't always work out. How many guitarists like the idea of an SRV strat only to find the neck too big etc??
17. 700RB-II into Ampeg 410HE, SVT15E or both. Serious rock n roll!!! And no, I dont have any issues mixing the 410 with a 15 - it sounds great to me!
18. Sold Clarky a cab. Top bloke to do business with!
19.
Just bought a Barefaced Vintage cab off Mark, our second deal. Great cab, just gave it a quick play with my Orange valve amp and sounds wonderful. Great transaction as before. Cheers Mark!
Always a pleasure to deal with Clarky!!
20. Disco Inferno bassman is Ronnie Baker who was most definitely a flats user. He always went for the thickest, fattest bass sound he could get - flats, foam mutes, gaffer tape over the strings at the bridge, the works. A true BASS man! He was also a producer and apparently a real tough guy to work for.
21. I often use an Ampeg 15E with a GK 700RBII and it sounds great for smaller blues gigs. There is a surprising ammount of top end from this cab if you dial it in.
22. Its also worth having a good root/5th 12 bar pattern up your sleeve for playing something different on a standard like Mojo Working Just to add to that, if the drummer isnt a real blues drummer (and plenty who say they are actually aren't!) it can get very difficult no matter how good your blues chops are!!
