I want one of these. This thread isn't helping! How 'relic'd' is the neck - do they bash it about a bit to give it a few knocks or is it pristine? I'm not bothered by a bit of wear to the body but not to the neck...

And Nicky Wire from the Manics, he does it a lot! When I first starting playing all those years ago I played with upstrokes quite a bit. It felt quite natural. Then along came a more experienced player who told me it was wrong and that was that! I still do it from time to time though - it can give certain phrases a more urgent, jerkier feel. I find I do it naturally on off beats - the main riff to The Boys Are Back In Town, for example. Try it!

I've found myself in possession of Mr C's beautiful Squier Precision. It's rather smashing. Paul's a great chap to deal with and man enough to brave Bluewater on a Saturday.

[/quote] I've got a limo black reissue from a few years ago with the ordinary vol/tone knobs and slightly more adjustable bridge. I adore it - it's considerably more versatile than they get credit for. The best sound I had was tuned to drop C through an Ashdown rig - massive chunky tone with a great treble bite on top. My only issue is that it doesn't stay in tune very long. I thought about swapping the tuners but didn't want to detract from what makes it what it is.

I've no doubt it's a fantastic bass - which is why I'm a bit peeved that I could never own one, solely down to the logo. If it doesn't bother you, that's great, but for me it's a big enough factor to stop me playing it. Again, no offence meant to the OP.

I'm astounded that the West Ham logo is permanent, rather than removable like the Roger Waters 'Wall' image. Surely it's going to alienate a lot of potential players?
