1. That's such a shame! I found a BC Rich Ironbird in a CC a few years ago with a Robin Hood neck. I took a chance as it was cheap and as luck would have it the shop ad tuned the bass ridiculously high - when tuned correctly the neck settled down nicely.
2. There's something you don't see every day! I've always loved the look of the Excess, never tried one though.
3.
My only disappointment with the O2 show is the terrible bass mix...
It noticeably improved when he switched from his Mansons to the fretless Fender!
4. I'm not familiar with this exact model but I've never heard a P that didn't sound like a P.
5. I had it over Xmas! Irritating at worst. Luckily I didn't have any gigs or rehearsals so it wasn't really a bother. Mind you the itchiness and bumps went away after a couple of days so I must have had it a lot milder than you.
6. I doubt any band rehearse in shirts and ties. You would forever be remembered as 'that guy who turned up to audition in a dinner suit'.
7. I was supposed to go with my old man but he injured himself. Not too upset though, it's very much Annie and friends these days.
8.
Peavey C5 does all that, they go for less than £200 and are really well-made: Weighs a ton, mind. Jon.
That's a Zephyr isn't it?
9. What about LTD? I think their fivers are 35" scale. And they use EMGs too
10. Not so much a technical fault as such, but once our singer arrived a bit later than the rest of us and was jokingly told by the promoter at the door that he had the wrong night. First we know about this is an hour later, frantically trying to locate the singer and discovering he'd got the train home. Anyway, the show must go on and all that. We're just about to go onstage when I discover my bass had been stolen. I think we realised the odds were against us at that point. And no, I didn't have a spare bass either.
11.
Why would you play anyone's bass lines at all..?? I just noodle with things that I've come up with and I'll be trying to the bass to sound like it could handle the sounds within the styles that I hear and play. I kind of laugh when I hear someone playing a standard bassline, tbh..
Not everyone is able to compose their own music, or improvise.
12. I'm one of the few who actually prefers the 424 over the 1024. Mainly because it does an accurate Precision impression, whereas the 1024 sounds a bit more 'refined' to my ears. The 1024 is better made but the 424 is still superbly put together and an absolute bargain for what it is.
13. Later used to have a great mix back in the 90s, and bands were allowed to play far louder. These days there is a strict volume limit, and it's really noticeable. The heavier acts sound like they've lost a bollock.
14. Name and shame I say. Save the rest of us the hassle!
15.
Take a hear At Live At Leeds and you Know how it sounds..... :-)
I'm considering remortgaging the house as we speak...
