  1. How odd. I stumbled upon that video the other day. He's a monster player without a doubt, but I've never been fond of his tone. Sounds like Kermit on a trampoline.
  2. Ordered! Thank you very much. Does anyone know if I'll be charged now or when they deliver it? It wasn't clear on Amazon...
  3. A gift from a friend who doesn't use it anymore. I hate to use this word, but it's lush. I'm over the moon with it! The joy of flange.
  4. Freekbass?
  5. I've only ever had bad experiences at the Gallery - too numerous to list here, and enough to have left me happy to never visit there again - but I must say it is extremely pleasing to see them reaching out to the community in this way, and is a refreshingly friendly manner. A personable approach goes a long way. Welcome Charlie, and thank you for the introduction. I'll be sure to pop in next time I'm in the area!
  6. Didn't she used to play for Kill II This? I loooved her back in the day...
  7. Not a Fender.
  8. Talking of Kiss, Lou Reed co-wrote A World Without Heroes on the infamous Elder album, and Bryan Adams contributed to Creatures Of The Night.
  9. Just bought a trio of pedals from Quilly, they arrived quickly and stunningly wrapped in the biggest bubble wrap I've ever seen. Great stuff!
  10. It's tempting! All the best Thunderbirds have had neck repairs don't you know 😂
  11. They probably assumed it was Eighties and gave you the benefit of the doubt.
  12. For the first couple of minutes anyway 😂
  13. I wouldn't know where to start I'm afraid! And... what is this 'clean' you speak of?!
  14. That's the one I have. It fits, but there's little space at the headstock.
  15. Whenever I play Rhythm Stick I use a pick in a crude Bobby Vega style. I think it works very well. I do usually play fingerstyle but I just can't pull off that tight burpy staccato style.
  16. It is a fiend, that bit! I used to play it in my old band from time to time and could just pull it off, but I played it the other day and it's gone 🤣 If ever you do need to play it, something I did was drop the 2nd and 6th note on each scale run, it made it far less hectic and still got the gist across. When you're playing that comfortably you can slot in the missing notes!
  17. Case: 133.5cm x 43.5cm (tapers towards end) Bass: 127cm x 36cm (approx. body width)
  18. Never seen an Alembic in that colour, that's really something special.
  19. Absolutely stunning.
  20. I finally had the chance to plug it in briefly tonight and... Wow! Fantastic tone. Definitely far brighter and growlier than the current Gibson Thunderbird pickup - in fact it sounds just like an old classic Thunderbird. For those going after that Martin Turner tone, the neck pickup nails it. To my ears, the tone with both pickups blended is slightly tighter that the classics but that's to be expected as the bridge pickup is closer to the bridge that it used to be. The neck pickup though, it just roars. Filthy beast! I think my initial impressions were a bit harsh - probably because it's a brand new, shiny thing that has never been played, I rarely buy brand new and I'm use to things being a bit more worn in. I've just spent a very pleasurable half hour finding my way around it. Amazingly, no neck dive either! It does hang in a slightly odd position compared to what I'm used to, but again, that's just the nature of Thunderbirds. I'm not 100% if it's staying yet, but it's rapidly growing on me.
  21. No power supply but it runs fine off a standard one.
