  1. Yeah... not really sure what Fender were playing at. Still, it stands out on stage! Well, a dark corner of a pub. Ok. My living room.
  2. Call that yellow? THIS is yellow!
  3. I wanted to go but couldn't face standing in a field for hours in that heat 😣
  4. I was just weeping softly to myself over this on Facebook.
  5. Oh mate... I feel your pain. I had a bass turn up once, body cracked clean in half. Luckily the shop were spot on and refunded me. Hartnoll's, I think it was. That said, mine was only an impulse buy and didn't have any of the emotional investment I've seen in this thread.
  6. I haven't bought Bass Player for years. I used to subscribe but there were a few major changes in quick succession - a drastic drop in pages, loads more adverts, and it even changed shape! It didn't help that most of the players it featured didn't mean much to me. But, it did have decent transcriptions, something BGM lacked. BGM, for all it's faults, always strived to be fun and enthusiastic.
  7. I used this briefly for experiments in bi-amping. Very simply, the box splits your signal according to where you set the frequency knob, allowing you to send lows and highs to different amps. Excellent condition, some very minor scuffs on the outer casing. Price includes postage to mainland UK. Official stuff: The SX21 is a 24dB/Octave two-way frequency divider intended for small sound reinforcement applications. It has Input, Low and High Output jacks, and Input, Crossover Frequency, Low and High Output controls.

  9. I was going to post something, but I can't possibly top this!
  10. I don't have any to hand but a quick google of fireglo Ricks will show some better examples. The one in your link looks like it was applied by a beginner with a spray gun.
  11. I got my tug bar from him. Scott Dasson. He knows his Thunderbirds.
  12. A 2nd hand bargain does not negate the fact that Ricks are hideously expensive these days. And that example has one of the worst burst finishes I'vd ever seen.
  13. I was at the recent Live at Hammersmith release from The Darkness... can't think of any other music ones, but I'm somewhere in the crowd for Bill Bailey's Part Troll if that counts. There was a bit of Slayer in there I suppose! This all pales next to my Dad's efforts as he was present for Genesis Live, IOW festival 1970, Queen at The Rainbow '74, and Deep Purple Live In London - the hooligan yelling 'Smoke on The Water!!' - that's him.
  14. I was so enamoured I bought another, then realised it was a bit daft to have two. The second one was heavier but had a bit more grunt so I kept that one. You can get covers on eBay, but they are pricey. I bought a finger rest, purely for aesthetics. Yet to be fitted, of course 😂
  15. Good man! I've had two, the first one had a pale fretboard. My current one is much darker. I've been playing it all day. It's a beast.
  16. Another happy afternoon spent with the pedal. I'm tending to stay around the suggested Chris Squire settings. It's a tone I've been chasing for over 20 years, and here it is in a tiny little box. I'm laughing at how wonderful it is! As much as I love Dug's tone - and this pedal certainly nails it - it isn't a sound I would ever really use. This pedal is far more versatile than most Youtube demos suggest. There are a lot of variations of tone in this thing. I'm seriously considering selling my EBS Billy Sheehan pedal. @Tech21NYC - bravo!
  17. My first bass was an Eros! Not the same one though, an EB-3 copy, natural finish. Bought for me by my parents for £20. It was a lot of money in those days (1995)! Sorry to digress. As you were!
  18. It's not unheard of for established bands to recruit new members from tribute acts...
