Im sure it will be fine, just ensure that the tail wire holes in the tailpiece are nice and straight and theres enough space above the holes to fit the nuts.

I have a set of old (and probably a bit knackered) spiro weich you can have - if nothing else, you'll find out if you like the feel/tension or not. PM me.... Personally I think it's always a good idea to try a set of Spiros at some point in your playing carreer, ther's a good reason why they're (probably) the most popular double bass string. Plus, if you don't like tham, you'll always be able to sell them on.

Any decent quality braided stell cable will do. The only taile wire I would't buy again is the Wittner one with the threaded ends that insert into the holes in the tailpiece - the one I bought snapped at the threads after about 6 months, though It's entirely possible that was caused by the slightly wonky holes in my tailpeice rather than a problem with the cable. I had it replaced with a standard braided steel cable and a cable clamp and it's been fine ever since. https://gollihurmusic.com/tailgut-tailpiece-hanger-replacing-with-stranded-cable/ Metal tailpieces are fine until you start mounting things on them, like pickup jacks or preamps, when they are prone to all sorts of annoying buzzes and rattles. I have a Stentor with a metal tailpiece inthe rehearsal studio and I have to stuff all sorts of bits of foam between the pickup jack and the tailpiece to stop it rattling.

Currently in the van on the way to our first gig in 6 months. Had a mega rehearsal last night so we're not too rusty and we have 2 brand new, never played live songs to debut, which is nice. The crowd will mostly be made up of the regulars of the festivals we put on and who we haven't seen since February. It'll be great, as long as everyone behaves....

The Stagg, G4M and the Harley Benton EUBs are pretty much the same thing. There's variation in the on board electronics but that's about it. In my experience of various products from all three companies, Harley Benton has the best build quality, but that's reflected in the price. You can stick/draw postition dots on the side of the fingerboard, so I wouldn't let lack of factory applied dots influence your choice.

Yes. This. Though the amplifier was a Sound City Fender Twin type thing. I reckon my first song was Whole lotta Rosie by AC/DC. We also did Paranoid by Black Sabbath, but probably without the instrumental section at the end.

I think I was also guilty of owning this at the time. In my defence, I would have been about 14 and easily impressed by this sort of thing. The people who made it, however, were grown adults.

I've used a bass Snark for years (I got it when I was in a jazz trio that ended in 2014). No problems with battery life or bits falling off, although young Rev did chew off one of the rubber bits on the clip. I find it works best on the bridge of my laminate bass and the scroll of my carved bass.

Steel strings generally have a stronger fundamental and note definition than nylon, so it's probably more that you can't hear the note as clearly as you used to.

As the Bluebird (genus Sialia) is indigenous to the north Americas, not nothern Europe, it is very unlikely that mutliple Bluebirds would be seen flying in the sky in the vicinity of Dover. Unless they were Bluebirds that had escaped from a local aviary.

I do about 60 gigs a year across Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. There's loads of great little festivals and a great network of bands and musicians. As long as you're prepared to do a bit of travelling, you'll have no problem.

I dunno, I use a magnetic pickup and this makes me feel a bit woozy. I'd echo the 'what are you doing to your bass query'. In 12 years, I've only had the bridge fall over three times - two stage invasions and one instance of late night loading into a badly packed van.

Ah, but thats a single split coil in a P-bass shape, the RS Countour has 2 x '51 style P bass pickups in a Jazz shape. I love the look of the RS Contour but not £3000 worth of love. A £350 Squier with the same look would be very tempting.
