FS/FTFender Precision Bass Japan 1984 (JV Series) 650GBP
It is gorgeous. I am confused by the logo, though - I thought the Fender logo models were all done in '82? And looked like this Edit having said that, mine is a 57 reissue - is it different because it is a 62 reissue?
That's because I think this a non-export JV (the Squiers were the export models). The made in japan logo is also a clue. 21 frets may provide the answer. -
I believe it has already been reported and Ebay have decided not to pull it, it is pretty clear to any knowing buyer that it is a fake and anyone on here would hopefully put it up to scrutiny from our learned friends as above. Hopefully no one will fall for it and it will remain unsold....but I agree Ebay should be more responsive when they are advised as item is a definite fake
Yes if it was a Rick it wouldn't have stayed up.
Maybe I am just passively absorbing effects of the huge quantities of Peppa Pig in our household. The way young daughters are able to cloud all sensible judgement in preference of "pink", "sparkly" and "unicorns"...
Oh dear I have lived (and continue to live) through that phase. I can only recommend a nudge towards Ben and Holly (which is quite funny) and to prepare for the onslaught which is Frozen.

whats the live music scene like in devon and Cornwall?
cameltoe replied to Subthumper's topic in General Discussion
Depends what you are after. If you want to gig all the time, as a living, you could do it in Cornwall. A lot of pubs all over the county with regular live bands, and a healthy amount of serious live music venues. We don't struggle for gigs and have actually had to reduce it to our favourite venues this year. If you're wanting to see trendy bands on the cusp of 'making it' every weekend- probably not the right place for that. We hype up the talent down here, and there are some real egos floating around, but most don't amount to much. Those that have any kind of perceived potential are usually whisked away to London where the streets are paved with gold as soon as they amass any kind of following. I was involved in a project a couple of years ago where we needed a female vocalist. The project had potential, so we went to a local pub to see a live gig of a local female musician who had a good reputation and was making the local paper every so often. She was good, so we went to ask her if she'd be interested in laying down some vocals. A man who looked like he could have been her father stopped us, so we told him whether we could chat to her to ask. He told us no, and there would be no way she would be interested in our project as she had a 'contact in London now'.... Another good example is a band that hyped themselves as 'playing Glastonbury...' They promoted it for ages. Turns out they were playing in a random pub in Glastonbury in the middle of February.... Some good studios down here though, and lots of good summer music festivals. Can't comment on Devon too much, I get a nosebleed when I go over the Tamar. -
Your favourite multi effects.? or single pedals..?
cameltoe replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
Akai Unibass! Ha- I didn't see what all the fuss was about, but people love them. I have a pigtronix disnortion which is quite a cool little box- octave, 6 shape fuzz, and overdrive. Nice sounding pedal. Not multi-effects obviously. -
I've got fairly awful homemade covers consisting of Post Office sacks cut to shape with gaffa tape seams. These have the advantage of making my gear look grotty enough that no-one will wander off with it in the less salubrious venues. I've been plotting to make some better ones out of leatherette vinyl with yoga-mat type thin foam glued to the insides, but this is on hold until I can persuade my wife to show me how to use her sewing machine!
I made a cover for my old Hartke combo from post sacks and gaffer tape! The padded leatherette is available cheap on eBay if you know someone handy with a sowing machine. Makes you think how much some companies charge for covers... The covers for our JBL subs (which luckily came with them) were £140 for the pair!
I'm sure I'm in a tiny minority here, but there are few things my life needs less than an 11-minute guitar solo played to an audience of wannabee guitar heroes. That was painfully dull, and the "all systems go" from 4m20s sounded far better when The Who started Baba Yaga with that riff & sound.
It was horrible! I'm not sure who his influences are, I've not listened to enough of his stuff, but it seemed like he wants to be Hendrix and what he lacks in soul and feeling he's tried to make up for with technicality. Prob way off the mark mind you

You don't 'make it' by saying yes to every gig. This can damage your reputation if you're not careful. A band I was in a few years ago said yes to every gig offered, and ended up overexposing themselves to the point they once played in the same (small) town for 3 weeks on the spin, and after that continued to play there at least once a every couple of weeks, albeit at different venues. The crowd got less and less. They've now split up. Choose gigs wisely, spread the areas out, once you've generated a buzz it's more likely people will turn out to see you in their hometown when you only play there every few months, rather than every week or two. The majority of the general public don't go out every week to see a band, even if it's a band they like. If Justin Timberlake was playing in the pub down the road every week, how many weeks would it be till my Missus stopped going to see him? Actually don't answer that......

Didn't sell! That is a bit of a bargain.

Yes I have a few of his albums, like him a lot. My brother in law saw him at glasto this year and was blown away.

What a Ming-er. Boom boom! -
Well I enjoyed it! What bass was he selling again?

It took me a while and I did used to use this technique a lot, but have now drifted to a more 1,2,4 and just moving my hand more rather than keeping it planted. It might be me getting lazy, but I actually feel I have better control this way, especially for muting/ghost notes.
Whereabouts in Kernow are you? You know Mark aka Mr Limelight is in Teignmouth Devon, nice drive! I live in a small village just outside Plymouth but gig all over Devon (home of the original pastie ) and Kernow (land of strange folk law and next to claim independence ) ...these gigs are mostly with my soul/function's band where i use my Limelight...if close by could always hook up
Land of the upside-down cream tea? What kind of weirdos spread the cream on first? It's perverse!! I'm down in St Austell, but would live to try a limelight. That Burgundy Jazz is beautiful!!!!!!

Yes I often find it amazing when someone (usually a guitarist) blames another band member for not being able to get their chops off. The licks or riffs they play should be based around what the others ARE playing, not what they ain't. It's called playing together. To be fair, it sounds like it may have been the first time SRVBob had heard himself play on his own with another player, as opposed to playing over the top of an SRV cd, so no wonder he got annoyed- he's nowhere near as good as he thought.
I personally don't like them comfort wise but if I remember well Leo Fender was not quite happy with the Precision and updated the concept to the Music Man Stingray.
....then updated to the G&L L2K! I would say it depends whether you want to sit in the mix, or cut through the mix. I personally want my bass to naturally couple with the bass drum. Not everyone does!

My Fender 2006 S1 Jazz - 60th Anniverary with Fender case.
cameltoe replied to hughie's topic in Bass Guitars
No expert but I'd guess £600-£650 in the current market. Prices are low- S1 Precisions have recently been advertised under £500, albeit not in perfect condition.
