1. Love G&L!! Out of interest, what does Empress sound like?
2. I love W&T and this model probably suits me the most, but why, why, why relic/age a modern bass? Marmite finish...Kinda like my flip flop pink superstrat .
3. Yeah - I wouldn't mind re oiling it red from natural and then put a glossy clear coat on top.
4. Cheers Grangur - Been wondering about that one for years! Much appreciated
5. Hi Guys, Just a quick one - Can you re-finish basses that are hand oiled, or does the oil make things trickier? Many Thanks
6. I think some higher quality pictures would sell this - It's at a great price!
7. Fighting the temptation
8. That's a lot of bass for the money.
9. EDIT: Just read the article properly. I used to think that Sammy should keep quiet about Eddie, but the more Eddie speaks, the more Sammy's comments are justified; the guy's a prick. That said, they're still in my top 10 bands of all time.
10. I always thought Ebony was the happy medium on bass...not that I've owned one for a while now. I think people that claim there's no difference between Maple and Rosewood are in denial; Rosewood is darker sounding and Maple is brighter, but I wouldn't say I prefer one over the other.
11. Aww yeah - It's the real deal!
12. ...No input, not appreciated
13. Evening Gentlemen, I just wanted to run something by those of you that get stuck in when it comes to electronics etc, as I've always left my guitars stock and have little experience because of this. The Superstrat that I have was beginning to crackle when I ran it through my Blackstar Combo and I initially thought the pot needed a clean after two years; however, the sound is caused when you touch the metal hardware and there is a very light humming noise in the background. I checked all the solder joints and they all seem secure, including the grounding of the bridge. As you can see, the guitar has one 8.6K custom wound PAF humbucker, so I don't think shielding is the issue...Which leads me to this 'reverse polarity' theory, where you have to change the jack wires over. In case the problem was my Blackstar or the Mains, I tried the guitar through a Marshall in a different room, but the issue remained. Due to my two amplifiers being practice combos, there isn't a reverse polarity switch on the back so I'm stuck. Is it time to get the soldering iron out? All input appreciated.
14. I have to agree with BassBunny & Chaypup
15. The Fretless is my perfect bass - I want
16. Stumbled across this previously, but I discovered it again this evening!! In the days pre-G&L, my favourite would have to be the last one - instant James Brown tone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0P-6gGZzG8
17. I thought Bravewoods were 100% handmade too?
18. I only know of Steve using a heavy precision, extremely heavy flats and trace elliott amplifiers - I've never seen him using pedals live
19. Wow!! There's no way to improve on that...just stunning, love the inlays
20. Yayaya, I like! Very Leon Wilkeson
21. Non better than G&L Basses & Guitars for Quality, Value for Money & Tone - You do have to be man to play the neck though, some o those are chunky. I've had 6 since my first, and am planning for another 2!! There is a difference between the Tribute & US series, but the former still beats seven shades out of the majority of beginner/intermediate models. I'm very pleased with them, and having just bought in a guitar from a new 'masterbuilt' brand, I still consider my G&L's far nicer...not sure if I should be gutted or not .
22. I'd try a Nitro guitar first, I found it an awfully 'crumbly' finish that marks extremely easily - I hear no difference between nitro & poly. I like to look after my stuff obsessively, so I prefer poly because it doesn't mark up, stays looking new & is much less sticky on my hands/forearm - no dings!! So holds the (modern) instrument's value better.
