This chap's trying to sell ours here: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c2cddc059 I've checked with him and it's the same one, I part exchanged it with a nice ole welshy for his 70's Yamaha SG2000 who then moved it on to this fella above - I don't know what he's done to to bring the condition down but it was immaculate when it came from you and left me. Was a lovely guitar indeed and the reason I bought the above!! Neck was a bigger handful of Chunky C than the Fullertons, I can get a tad more speed on the V's higher up but the arpeggios are just as wicked - wide string spacing and a nice flat radius . I still hanker for an Invader/Rampage, they're next on the list if I can't find another of these - I'm looking for Fullerton Red too!! . I've had 5 G&Ls so far and no bad eggs! *touches wood* What did you think of the MFD pickups on the Asat? I haven't had a chance to try them out yet

Lol I'd take Foxen's offer if I was down Bristol way, used to be in Cardiff and I used the guy at Cardiff Guitars until I heard Eltham mention 40 odd pound. Edinburgh is a possibility for me, thank you! Dave Wilson (ex-Overwater) has quoted me £40 so i'm probably going to take him up on it as soon as I can get out to Haltwhistle, Northumberland. Thanks guys, very helpful thread

Thanks Sliddx! I bought the 50s 2 tone & maple first n just thought aww maaayn, now I need a 60s 3 tone & rosewood - blew my music budget straight out the window. The Deluxe is what I should have originally bought over the AVRI, I need every bit of help to sound even remotely like Stephen Stills . I had a mate who ditched a Les Paul for the Fernandes Ravelle, can still remember that pickup through his Marshall stack . There's definitely summit about V necks that keeps making you want to pick it up. I love the Tyler headstock!! The more bizarre the better ! I just didn't like the modern, chambered tone n kinda felt out of love with bridge humbuckers over unison bends lol. I can get close to a tele on G&Ls because of the big ole metal bridge, but with these, I tend to roll off the treble and it's inbetween a Rickenbacker and SG Special for crunch - made me start listening to The Who again . Btw do you use 9 or 10 gauge strings on your stratocaster??

Hahaha MDP...*sigh*. The frustrating bit is i'm good at everything but faffing about with the nut and well worn frets so I never know when they come into play! I guess every guitar needs to be professionally setup initially, £45 would be great though! I'm pretty sure it's just the nut but to fork out £100 on one gauge of nut files and then botch it is...well, not worth thinking about. Three bottles o black sheep and i'm no used to anyone EDIT: Just realised I met that Eltham at Cardiff Bass Bash ^^, was surprised when he said 40 odd quid for a setup

How much do they usually cost?? I've seen setups offered from £40 to £120 and just wanted to know what's the norm??

Sorry, I couldn't resist. On a serious note, the main concerns of Danelectro players are it's fragility and intonation - the hardware is the chief cause of problems. I love the tone myself and have been tempted in the past, primarily because Jack Bruce played one, and I also love the way I play on a shortscale/flatwound bass. If the above issues concern you, I'd point you in the direction of trying to pick up a Lakland Jerry Scheff (they are discontinued but I have seen them changing hands still). There was a Danelectro Longhorn in Silver/Greyburst for sale on BC recently, very pretty indeed!

Sorry about that, my photobucket's not working for some reason . The necks are great, I couldn't capture the carve in the photos but they're very different from those on the Fender '57 AVRI model, which, I unfortunately had to grapple with for some reason. I like any neck where I can manage an open G7 chord stretch with ease and then love them if their unfinished and gun oiled . Best necks I've tried other than those above are ESP's narrow but deep U and Charvel's classic wide C/D - fast, if needed, but with plenty of mass to them!!

Dead spot on a fretless... What to do ?
Schnozzalee replied to Torben Hedstrøm's topic in Bass Guitars
Jack Bruce says he has dead spots on his thumb, hasn't resolved the issue just says he knows where they are and that it's still his favourite instrument -
I know what you mean, I didnt fully believe him either, hence the post on here, although nothing coming out of the early days of CBS would surprise me at all !!
True, they'll never shift it though, such a huge claim to make (and price to ask) without proof! I'd just ignore them and offer them whatever a poorly refinished '65 goes for...
-
I believe it's a '65 but if I heard Laurie telling me that poop I woulda just stood there smiling at him until he felt very uncomfortable if that story makes em a huge profit I suspect it'll come back to bite em in ass!! You can have my G&L George Fullerton Signature Models for £23k!!? Every man has his price I guess
My preference would be the bright yellow, with a rosewood board and a black pg. No matching headstock.
This ^^ although British Racing Green & Rosewood takes my fancy too - black/mint/black pickguard.

What's the half goat man from 'The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe' called? I wish people would stop highlighting this guy it makes me go all numb and ache (muchly so).

Love Judas Priest, one of my favourite gigs...but I wouldn't look to Ian Hill for inspiration, apart from playing Spector Basses -
