Reading the above and the Build diaries... A kit is a kit... Making the neck from scratch is hard... Howzabout finding a neck ya likes, then build from their? Own Body Shape n Wood, neck pocket for your neck... pickups P, J, 'Buckers, one of each? Passive or Pre, Switch selection of the Enterpise, or simple VT, Lin/Log, No Load Tone? Knobs, Tuners and Bridge style of your choice... And a greater sense of achievment designing and making, seeing it come to life, than following the distructions on a kit of pre selected parts... Then the finish... natural stain paint or relic... 'expect to see it in the build diaries - enjoy!

You got what ya wanted all those years ago... a white one for a reason... let it rest with speculation, and a bit of the unknown for good measure... -

Name has cropped up on here a few times before... Budgie - The MCA albums 3 disk box set has just landed - care of Music Magpie - Tenner, New... Never turn ya back on a friend / In for the kill / Bandolier, that have now replaced the 'Best Of' that was on my mp3 player, and from where the compo tracks were drawn. Also got the latter Power Supply album... cracking Load of Budgie on vinyl - but all that faff is tucked away... I'm back in the late '90s... transported - Great Tunes! -
Just dont use one to keep a taly on what ya spent on bass stuff... 😉

But it would be a little higher as its the 4th string... not a 5th... Between the E and A holes (stop sniggering at the back!) looks bang on... ala MM Stingray.. But looking agin at a P Headstock, maybe between the A hole (Stop it, you have been warned once...) and the D... Did you need to dowl the old G? - would reprofiling not just take you to edge of the hole... Check the back for machine head fit, and you can often turn the petal bar round in the bracket to turn the peg the other way What shape ya going for? - pics please...

Advice sought: stripping a poly body, then oil finish
PaulThePlug replied to Oxnard Montalvo's topic in Repairs and Technical
Did a cheap Cruiser by Crafter P-a-like... Heat Gun... orbital sander... then £5 Dutch Oil from screw fix... applied 'slurry method' with 800 grade wet n dry... Couple of posts here... -
Shiney... makes such a difference. Lets have a pic of the whole bass? I use a dremel with a small polish mop, and a dap of Autoglym... Then the Dunlop lemon oil on the fret board.

Fret Sticker... how do you feel about them?

understated, and subtly applied... -
Modern? I only really go as modern as the Ibby SR shape, which i 'really' like... But.. the Squire P Bass in the back ground? - they just look so 'right' or is it just 'familiar'...
-
'It was a dark orange/red (not sure what the colour is called)'... Rust?... 😉 I did a re-fin on a Cruiser Crafter P-a-Like...stripped the red and went with Dutch oil on what i think is a bass wood body. Just googled the body shape...white pick guard? burgandy would go nice... black would be bland - shape deserves a colour... Mustard? or go a Metalic?

My Bad... and thin for the high end... would expect more ya 30 or 40s to 100s ish then for normal 34" Bass Scale...

Just got the Zoom B1X Four (Thanks to Alfie Noakes...) Down loaded the Zoom Guitar Lab Software to the laptop and updated the Zoom's Firmware to V2 Thinking of backing-up the standard patches, and effects, removing them all, then loading up some of the effects in batches to patches to see what i like in stomp mode... Primary use is as a headphone amp... will have alook at the Amp and Cab sims to see whats what but really after a Marshall #1992 Super Bass Head circa 1976 kinda sound. with some drive, then a bit of phaser or flanger and spot of delay for some Hawkwind-esq Space Bass... what would be closest? Any pointers on the use of a Zoom and recommended settings to try would be most welcome. Looking forward to having a play latter... when my youngest has finished his Minecraft-ing.
