vinyl sales on the increase
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to PaulWarning's topic in General Discussion
I always like reading about these vinyl topics. ( yet to read this thread all the way through tho'). I must say that my( and many others) listening habits have changed somewhat, since the mid '80s. I remember selling lots of vinyl, and buying the cd versions cheap/2nd hand. All well and good, until you find certain albums have not been transferred to cd in the 21st century. I still have a fair bit of vinyl( approx 2 small hi-fi cabinets full. )Still have cassettes in the loft. Most of ny stuff is cd , which is my fave way of having a physical musical product. Over the last say ,7/8 years I listen to stuff on my iPhone .once I buy cd, I put it straight into my mac computer. I still have loads of stuff to do on that side of things. Next month, I will try spotify. If I like it, I will use that also. Tbh, as I look over at my pink triangle turntable, which is gathering dust as the lid broke, I think that I am fed up with the vinyl after all this time. Why buy a format , I was told to ditch? Have I got time for it? Why go backwards, when the way forward is download? Have I got the room? If I bought all the stuff I used to have, then obviously not. I look at my bookshelf speakers, and wonder if they should be replaced with a sound dock etc. -

Saw an article on BBC website yesterday, where bonehead was trying to get a bit of sympathy regarding the free download . '' we're just a few Irish boys..' Blah blah blah.. It doesn't matter where he comes from. Being Irish is no excuse for being a twunt ! Now , if someone were to nail him to two planks of wood. Leave him in a quite area . Three days later, return to cross and see if he really is God. If he is, then I'm not worthy etc. -

Of you're the last band on , you'll probably be playing to one man and his dog. Sounds like yosy be better off turning up with just a triangle .. -
[RANT] Charity gig coming up
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to Stylon Pilson's topic in General Discussion
Not read all the thread yet. I've seen a couple of posts about charity gigs, and tbh it looks like a nightmare . If I were the op, I would say ' sorry , but due to illness we have to pull out of the event etc.' I've always wanted to play a small gig , ( somewhere in the west end like borderline/100 club ). I would charge people on the door , with all the proceeds going to a small animal charity like the blue cross etc. That means you just do your usual gig, without additional hassle / p@@s taking etc. -
If the guitarist wasn't mr. Vocals as well, I'd suggest everyone plays and mr. Vocals turns around and checks the volume and he decides. Why not bring someone along who could listen and make a neutral judgement with levels etc. Mr. Guitar sounds a bit jumpy

What about the badtz marou scratch plate ? -
Interesting topic. I have yet to read all of the thread btw. I have an observation or two; When I used to have a hohner headless bass.. It used to sound a bit muffled compRed. To a steinberger. Was this the pickups or the body? My Washburn status looks and sounds ultra professional. Body is walnut. My jack Daniels bass is a basswood body. The band used to love the sound but to me, it sounded like the hohner and not as powerful as the other2. My vester fretless is made of bubbinga and sounds great too. Not too heavy either

1st album brilliant. A couples singles were great too. Love pork and beans. I played that, has pipe and buddy holly live a few times. Bought the album with the green cover in a hmv sale. Poor. As a few people above mentioned; they became a bit of a cliche somewhat. I like the new single tho' . Never seen them live, so don't know if I missed out ..

Nearly got this setup while I was still gigging. Hard to get hold of , and times were hard at the time. Looks (and probably sounds ) awesome

Troyen (reformed NWOBHM sort of-ish)
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to karlfer's topic in Share Your Music
Glad you're still doing it . More power to ya! Sounds like you'll get better the more you're together. The bass stands out, which is a good thing Playing loose is always better than actual recording IMHO . Trying too hard not to make mistakes etc. Keep it up -
The sleepless nights are probably down to the fact you are moving. Why not wait until you move into your new abode to find out what the sound is like there? Also what bass are you using etc.?

Well, the bass sounds good. As for the vocals and the guitarist(s), not so keen I'm afraid. I think the song title is repeated too much tbh, Glad you're enjoying it tho'.
