  1. at the moment its' Dancing with Myself, simple but effective, the way I like to think of my bass playing 😁
  2. I think it's going to be down to what sort of band you are, if the audience normally sits down quietly at tables the gigs will start sooner, but if you're a raucous rock act like us gigs are a long way off
  3. I listen to spotify at home when I'm doing something else ( the discover Weekly is good, mostly) and some oldies station in the car when talk radio gets on my nerves, can't remember the last time I put a CD or LP on and just sat and listened to it, I get bored after about 5 minutes, occasionally I'll try something like 6 music but I like so little of it it soon gets switched off. So I do listen to quite a lot of music but not much I don't already know
  4. The Undertones, You've Got My Number, one of favourite songs, ever, all you seem to hear is Teenage Kicks
  5. the internet is slowly killing off all print media, it's just a natural progression, we don't stand still otherwise we'd still be reading stone tablets. The Razzle comment made me smile, when I was a newsagent I used to sell shed loads of 'Girly' Mags (how unPC), why would anyone buy them now? it's all free on the web.
  6. Best tuner I've got was when Reverb were flogging them off for a quid each including postage, got about half a dozen, bargain, as far as I'm concerned tuners are like watches, if they're accurate why buy an expensive one?
  7. not strictly speaking home recording but I'm putting together a live set of ours, recorded from the mixing desk, problem is we didn't have a crowd mic so the cheering between songs sounds weedy, any tips on adding appropriate crowd noise
  8. I think most of the rules are just guidelines, at least half of the 6ish pubs I've been in didn't take any contact details
  9. thanks for that, I never realised (I doubt whether the Ramones did either), I just count 11234 four times, always thought it was a bit odd but it all comes right because it equals 20 beats or 5 bars of 4/4, it also caused a fair degree of discussion in our band as well, we had to play the record to the guitarist several times till he reluctantly agreed I was right 😁
  10. I've pondered this question as well, I assume the 'Q' setting depends on how many EQ controls there are, for instance my Trace Elliot GP12 must have a narrow Q range but a simple Bass Mid and Treble amp must have a wider one, of course I could be talking bollocks
  11. just started playing this with the band and I was thinking a similar thing as I was doing the backing vocals the other night
  12. I use audacity to raise the pitch by an octave and slow it down, really makes the bass stand out, agree with @SpondonBassed about what seems right today won't seem right tomorrow, as long as it sounds right nobody will know anyway
  13. I stand corrected 😲
  14. If I go there will be trouble If I stay it will be double Well Joe, clearly you should have gone, so why bother asking?
  15. it's actually anti gravity air which makes them lighter, How much they'd weigh without this is truly mind boggling here's the proof, 4 minutes in
  16. me too and I've still got mine, must be 40 years old now and still going strong
  17. no phono input according to the specs
  18. I've a feeling the Government will regret picking a Saturday for the reopening of pubs, a Monday would have been far more sensible, given everybody more time to get used to the guidelines before a busy weekend, and if it's a nice sunny day it'll be even worse
  19. there's a lot of things to consider, whether you're at risk, whether anybody you're in contact is at risk and what the infection rate is like in your area, as well as what sort of job your band mates do, so we all have to make our own assessment as to what we feel comfortable with
  20. £400??????? no bids I wonder why?
  21. from what I remember people were buying them because they were good for the price, (everybody likes a bargain) but I suspect they were soon discarded one way or another because they still weren't as good as slightly more expensive budget basses
  22. the Peel session recordings are excellent, I usually prefer them to the 'proper' recordings, they're a bit rawer with a more prominent bass
  23. I think what makes a big difference (for me anyway) is when you're practising you're in a room with a limited number of people who you know have no symptoms, whereas in any public place who knows who you're interacting with edit, but at the end of the day it's what your own attitude to risk is
  24. In the end I sent it by parcelforce (as cheap as anyone) via Parcels2Go because it agave the option to drop it off at the local Post Office, an option which wasn't offered by P4G, you had to take it to one of their main depots. Didn't bother with insurance apart from 74p to guarantee delivery in 3 days, (parcelforce 48), figuring that would at least guarantee it against get lost Thankfully it arrived safe and sound in 2 days to a delighted buyer
  25. depends of attitude to risk, our rehearsal room is big enough to easily stay 2 metres apart, and it's people I know, I take the view that the risk is minimal, a lot safer than shopping in Tesco
