I may be in a minority of 2 here but stereo is overrated, especially fake stereo, the other on is Wilko Johnson who said the Feelgood's first album Down By the Jetty was mono because they couldn't really get a stereo recording from drums, bass, vocals and one guitar

Reverb buyer "offer" does it smell scammy to you?
PaulWarning replied to p4ul's topic in General Discussion
can't see the harm in sending a vid, just be wary of suspicious follow ups, like paying via paypal, I never sold anything on Reverb so not sure what the procedure is -

just purchased a Zoom B1on from Gary, no problems at all, as described and great comms

How many hours do people practice?
PaulWarning replied to Bassbooksbikes's topic in Theory and Technique
I learn new songs, revise old ones before a gig, or work out bass lines for originals, is that practicing? don't have a set time, depends whether I've got a gig or new material to work on, otherwise I don't pick the bass up -

I once had the misfortune to play through an 1 x 8 elf combo, granted it was a large room, but it was woefully underpowered, no umph and poor projection, a million miles away from vintage Trace amps, maybe the 1 x 10 is better with an extra cab -

Also the heat sink models are lower wattage so are a lot lighter, I've got 2, the rehearsal room has a fan modal, about 400 watts I think, weighs a lot more than mine and is not any louder as far as I can tell, mine are still plenty loud enough for gigging without a full PA -
that thought occured to me, are BF not very sensitive then?

oh right, thinking about it I've only bought off business sellers recently, no buyer protection fee
-
maybe I'm being thick here but the buyer doesn't pay anything in my experience, do you mean selling fees?
-
I agree with this, much rather go and see a good tribute act in a small local venue than pay out an exorbitant fee to see the real thing at an arena gig and you don't get "Here's some tracks from our new album" cue, rush to the toilets and the bar
-
I won't pay it and hate stadium gigs anyway, my next gig is the Undertones at Rock City £35 plus booking fee £5.38 and £1.50 e ticket download I hate these extras that are unavoidable, much as I don't like Government interference it really is time they put a stop to this, The headline price should be the price you pay, it's ridiculous, £1.50 to send you an E-ticket, where's the justification in that? If people didn't pay the high price for the big name gigs they wouldn't charge it, supply and demand init?

a bit of audience interaction is a good thing, nothing worse that long silences between songs or incoherent mumble from someone who is clearly out of their comfort zone, though on occasions as @asingardenof said it can go on too long, and please, no preaching to the crowd, it's bound to upset someone

Sky Arts and other music related programmes

Problem with Jools Holland is it's very eclectic, which is understandable, being about the only music show on mainstream TV, I record it and finish up watching 1 act if I'm lucky -
I use a zoom multi effects B1on pedal, there was one for sale on here, anything between slight overdrive to full on fuzz and eq as well

our vocalist being a total attention seeker is good at inter song chat, trouble is he doesn't alter it much so we get sick of hearing it, but a least we know what the next song is, which is handy when he misreads the set list, we don't alter the set much so we always finish up the set with about 4 songs one after the other, which works well. Unlike someone else's comment I hate it when the band introduce themselves, I'm really not interested in the names of the band, especially if it's accompanied by a solo spot for each member, just play another song

I've got a pair of HD 206's, bit bass light for me, and they don't fit over my big ears easily

My sound has changed over the years, I used to like the trebly JJ Burnel type of sound but have realised that's not what gives the band umph, now I have as much more low mids as I can get without boom kicking in and not much above 5K Hz. Sort of occupies the right frequency area We played a festival in the summer with a full PA and sound man and I realised the bands with an overly loud bass drum were the ones where the bass disappeared into the mix because they didn't have enough low mids, and for whatever reason the sound man couldn't compensate

I applied, never got a reply, perhaps they're trying to tell me something 😄 -
I'd just register my songs with the PRS and put a demo on soundcloud, in fact I register all the bands songs whether I wrote them or not seeing as nobody else can be arsed to register them in their own names

started getting problems with our Digital Aggregator, Soundrop, first of all they took down one of our Albums claiming unusual streaming activity when they'd hardly been any streams according to their own figures. the latest statement show a lot of streams for one of our songs (by our standards) but we finished up with a minus net Amount Due. Trying to get to talk to a real person is proving very difficulty
