just tested it, even I can notice the latency and it sucks the top end out resulting in lower volume than a cable, so all in all, bloody useless

When I checked, in the basket, the unit was still described as a Lekato WS-70 but the picture had changed to the Honiyo unit, I really can't be bothered to send it back for the sake of 8 quid, that's probably what they rely on, and it does work, haven't really tested out the quality yet, might be ok for home use

ordered a Lekato WS-70 wireless unit from AliExpress, under £16, what had I got to lose? I got to the checkout and the price was £8.30, I thought I'd got a new customer discount. The unit arrived today and its a HOHIYO A8, very flimsy but it works, but very dodgy practices, the original picture shows a Lekato but the check out picture (I've just checked) shows the Hohiyo, I shall complain but I'm not holding my breath

Where do independent musicians publish their music these days?PaulWarning replied to a topic in General Discussion just had a email from Soundrop saying they were taking down one of our albums at my request, I never made such a request but the album been taken down already, funny how it happened after they put their prices up. I've emailed them about it but I'm not holding my breath

this is a problem and pubs change hands a lot, get a good crowd, management changes, don't like your style of music and don't book you, mind you that type of manager doesn't tend to last long, on the other hand we sometimes keep getting asked back when hardly anybody turns up, to the point where we make an excuse not to play there

just ordered a WS-70 off Aliexpress, for some reason the amount was down to £8.36 by the time I paid for it, I'm wondering what the catch is 😂

Where do independent musicians publish their music these days?PaulWarning replied to a topic in General Discussion just had a email from Soundrop, they're increasing their charge from $0.99 a track to a whopping $4.99 a track, so if we ever get round to releasing any new music we'll looking round for a better deal than that. edit, or maybe not bother just release a physical product, might sell a few more then

Where do independent musicians publish their music these days?PaulWarning replied to a topic in General Discussion we use soundrop, costs about £1 a track (or did last time we used it) and they put it on most if not all the streaming sites, get a statement every month giving details of how many streams and where the songs have been streamed, when the amount reaches $20 we get a payment, which takes an age, especially now spotify don't pay anything till a 1000 streams in a 12 month period is reached

this^ we have just had a request for I Wanna Be Sedated for one of our gigs, they don't come any simpler than that but it's a great song and good fun to play IMO. It's one those where you think why is this simple song so good, I remember a quote by Gary Moore when talking about great guitar riffs, "A great guitar riff is one that is so simple you think to yourself why didn't I think of that?"
-
yes you're probably right, I like listening to songs by artists where the bass is more prominent, Stranglers, Jam even the Beatles on some of their tracks, especially the remixed versions, even Status Quo up to but not including Rocking All Over the World, the bass drove the songs along instead of just adding low end

Anyone else doing the Black Sabbath live stream?PaulWarning replied to a topic in General Discussion so he could have been saying "Where's my fcuking cake" 😂
-
seems to be the modern way, bass is there to add bottom end, nobody knows what a bass does until it's not there
-
unless you can tell a difference from hearing gig or recording does it matter? amused me that the Rod Stewart bassist used 3 basses at Glastonbury and you could hardly hear him, never mind tell any difference between them I used a different bass at one of our gigs, I said to my partner afterwards how it sounded, she replied "It sounded like a bass!" 😂

Anyone else doing the Black Sabbath live stream?PaulWarning replied to a topic in General Discussion might have been fucccccccking SARRROOOOONNNNNNN, the cnuts have left me sitting here

Anyone else doing the Black Sabbath live stream?PaulWarning replied to a topic in General Discussion just watched the Sabbath set on youtube, wasn't embarrassing at all, Ossie's voice is still sounds the same, amazingly, you could tell he really wanted to stand up but the old legs wouldn't let him, rest of the band were spot on, a great way to go out. Any lip readers out there? be interested to know what Ossie said when the rest of the band exited the stage and left him there

I see there's a predictable storm about Gary Glitter getting a royalty payment for Hello, but it does seem the obvious song to start with, but as Glitter is bankrupt maybe his victims (creditors) will get it? edit, anyway he's still in jail so won't do him much good, Mike Leander will be pleased though

Remastered doesn't mean its any betterPaulWarning replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion Remixes can make a big difference, remasters not so much, most remixers/remasters I've heard involve the bass being boosted, no bad thing IMO
-
just listened to John Fogerty on the iPlayer, the sound was so much better than when I listened to him live, the bass was up in the mix, and we got the full set, wish he hadn't done quite so much talking though, he might have had time to do Bad Moon Rising then
-
	Mick Jagger
-
should have bought Ronnie Wood on to play bass on Maggie May, it's a great bass line on the recording
-
well Fender recommend 2.4mm at the 17th fret, so not a million miles away, it all depends on your style of play and how much fret rattle you can put up with, I'm a fairly heavy handed pick player so I set mine up round about the Fender specs. Basses do have a higher action than guitars, longer neck and thicker strings are the reason for this I suspect. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube on how to set up a bass
-
I've pondered packing it all in, but then I'd miss the gigs, I won't miss is the band hassles, loading my car up, all the setting up and breaking down, I don't look forward to gigs like I used too, but once I'm up there playing I still enjoy it, I'm lucky in that I don't have any health problems I suppose when I do that'll be the time to give it all up
-
unless there is a way to read the minds of disorganised (or just don't care) bands members I don't think there is
-
we use a band google calendar, gigs and unavailability goes on it, it works fairly well, mostly.
-
it's a bit late in the day for us to do that, unfortunately, but there's local young band, sounds like the Jam, Sharp Class, who plan go out as a covers band called Sounds of the Suburbs, last I heard anyway
