apparently songs now have to have a least a 1000 Spotify streams in the last 12 months to qualify for any payment, so small artists like ourselves will go from getting a pittance to getting nothing.

the problem I've got is I wear hearing aids, taking them out makes things muffled, use ear plugs and it's even worse, I have to take them out to understand what people are saying to me, I tried the ACS's but it was a pain getting them in and out, I just use generic ones now, wedge the one next to the drummer right in and adjust the other one as required, at least my tinnitus hasn't got any worse

I'm not surprised, all they asked was a simple question, talk about making life difficult 🙂

I'm only guessing here but in the old days, lads and lasses use to get together to make music, as you couldn't play all the instruments at the same time, now they sit in their bedrooms in front of a computer and do it all themselves

tbf I can't remember the last time I put an Album on and listened to it, I usually listen though my phone which in on shuffle, didn't realise how up to date I was 😂

not sure how streaming works as regards the charts but very few people bother buying CD's and especially singles these days. I actually bought a CD the other day then realised my new laptop hadn't got a DVD/CD drive on it, had to dig out my old laptop to put it on my new laptop and phone 😕

Facebook Marketplace is the wild west of buying and selling sites, although I did sell my Mum's car on there, cash on collection of course

to answer the question, there's program I've used for years, Digital Music Mentor, it's old but downloads of a free version can be found (limited use), it's not perfect but gets you in the ball park https://digital-music-mentor.en.lo4d.com/windows it also has a stab at the bass line of songs as well, again not perfect but gives you an idea edit, if it's like mine script error box appears, just keep clicking yes and it opens eventually

I think it's important to stick to one genre, if you try and please all the people you'll please no one, in the band I'm in covers are chosen by consensus, but if someone really doesn't want to do a certain song we don't do it, after all if someone refuses to learn a song what can you do? besides kick them out the band, I've recently done this, the singer wanted to learn Ruby Soho by Rancid, but we'd already tried Timebomb, a more popular song, according to Spotify streams, by Rancid and it flopped and got dropped, so I wasn't going to waste my time learning it

whatever we think Amazon have got it nailed, I've got several friends who swear by amazon Prime's very efficient next day delivery, their bad treatment of staff, like Wetherspoons, is overplayed, by the 'they must be Bastards because they make so much money' brigade. As far as the tax evasion is concerned that's the Governments fault, no company pays more tax than they've got too

tbf if a singer's not self obsessed or an attention seeker (same thing?) they're usually not a very good front person

Our guitarist or drummer have to lift the speakers of the stands, I can't do it anymore, them 15" Wharfdale Titan's aren't half heavy 😄

when the band I play in lost 2 members the remaining members, me and the singer, paid off the leaving members, so me and the singer now own the PA, you can hardly ask someone just joining the band to fork out for the PA but we do take a small fee (round down there share of gig money) off the new members to pay for it's upkeep

just watched the whole set on catch up, she was excellent, in fact it's the only artist I've been able to watch all the way through

had the chance to use an Elf 1 x 10 combo at the weekend, what a disappointment, not bollocks, grunt, heft, what ever you want to call it, loud enough on stage during the sound check, but no projection into the largish room, then the guitarist decided to turn up, had everything maxed out and still struggled to hear myself, and I had it raised up onto a table, the Elf head my be okish with a couple of decent cabs but the combo on it's own isn't up to the job
