  1. to fully appreciate to impact the Beatles had, (too quote one of our American cousins 😊) you had to be there, I can fully understand why someone under the age of say 65 would have another fave band, the music we hear in our teens stays with us forever, being a few years older than 65 I can say the Beatles are my fave band of all time
  2. one of the advantages of Basschat is that singers (and guitarist) don't come on forums for bass players. at least I hope our Singer doesn't 😂
  3. in our band if someone really doesn't want to do a song we don't do it, sort of choice by consensus, there's plenty out there to choose from
  4. basically you need as much overdrive/ distortion as you can get
  5. don't sack the singer till you've got another one lined up, being in a band is a minefield, finding people you can sort off get along with and have similar musical tastes is very difficult.
  6. it's been around a while, is this a revamped model?
  7. I use my Zoom B1on with the BA Metal patch, I think I get pretty close, P bass with DR neon strings, others may disagree, can't comment on flats, I've never used them
  8. I spent years trying to improve my HiFi, eventually I decided it doesn't make a bad song better no matter how good it sounds, the situation you're listening in makes a far bigger impact, ( like down the pub in good company on a crappy juke box, the backing track to an advert or TV program, or even driving the car). I use ad based Spotify, sounds fine to me, mind you, I am a bit deaf these days. Which brings me back to the Revolver remix, yes it sounds better, but once the novelty of trying to decide if you can hear something that you couldn't before wears off you're back to listening to a great album, would I shell out to buy it? no.
  9. the better arms had a counter weight, the weight on the stylus should be around 2 grams if my memory serves me right
  10. the Revolver remix and additional tracks are now on Spotify, non Beatle fans look away now 😀
  11. I've just moved onto to thinner picks, I used to use 1mm on bass, have gone down to ..60mm nylon Dunlops, and for acoustic guitar down from .60mm to .46mm, less strain on the old thumb joint 😊
  12. cheers, heavy cabs are not easy to shift these days, I paid £85 for it but that included postage, it's been sitting in the spare bedroom for a few years now, can't see me using it again, it's also on FB (see my recent Scam thread), someone is supposed to be coming round tomorrow morning, cash in hand. Just tried it out, it does sound good, shame its on the heavy side
  13. that does sound plausible, after all they don't really want the item, so there's no point in obtaining it from you, they'd have the hassle of selling it on to get any money out of the deal
  14. I've had a Zoom B1on for about 5 years now, use it at all my gigs and practices, no issues at all
  15. Yes I knew it was a scam, like you say, couriers don't hand over cash, just wondered how it worked
  16. Trace Elliot 1153 vinyl covered, plywood cab, the original 200 watt speaker has been replaced by a 300 watt Trace Elliot Celestion speaker, great sounding cab and relatively compact. 62H x 48W x 33D cm, Weight 27Kg, I got this cab from @geoff90guitar about 5 years ago, I've gone lightweght Cash on collection please, Nottingham/ Derby area
  17. I've got an item on FB marketplace, someone has been in touch offering to collect the item using a DPD, they will give me the cash on collection, how does this scam work?
  18. punks not dead, but a lot of the original punks are heading that way, The Butlins Alternative (Punk) Festival has been scrapped due to poor numbers
  19. Took my Hondo Professional 2 to practice last night and it reminded me what a lovely neck it's got, IMO, slim (38mm at the nut) but chunky, as it's very heavy, being a plywood body, and like @Marvin's Warwick the first fret is a stretch the way it hangs on the strap it got me thinking what other P basses have a similar neck, so I Googled it and this thread came up
  20. Nah, this one is the only one you need bother with 😀
  21. actually that is a passable impersonation of Johnny Cash
  22. only a matter of time before Capt Kirk made an appearance, he may not be a competent musician, but the band and producers were, so I thought I'd get in first
  23. I've had various headphones including the Sennheiser HD280's, for bass response nothing has got close to the Audio Technica ATH-WS110, I practice through my lap top, to play along to tracks, and it sounds great
  24. IMO they went downhill after that (and JJ's bass tone), on the subject of JJ's bass tone, do we really think they mic'd up a ripped speaker cone when they recorded them?
