  1. I do wonder why you even bothered looking at this thread if you don't like the Ramones, I certainly don't bother looking at threads that mention bands or players that I don't like in the title. Perhap your number of 'watts' is telling us something 😁
  2. that's the first time I've come across anybody that thinks Trace are over estimating the output of their amps, if that's what you're doing. My Trace amps, a 150 watt and a 200 watt, haven't got a fan at all, just grill type heat sink sticking out of the back
  3. play along to a click track, with say four clicks before you start playing I can't think of another way unless the drummer lays down his track first, then just slide one of the tracks until they line up
  4. they showed a lot of people, me included, you didn't have to be a great musician to write songs and be in a band, a breath of fresh air after the prog rock years, nobody stripped Rock and Roll back to it's basics like they did
  5. to be fair, it's nearer 8 when when they do a key change 😀 I read somewhere he had a really high action, probably something to do with the way he hammered away at the strings all down strokes (something I can't do), so maybe he could get it lower with a G&L?
  6. that's my experience as well, Tesco and ASDA had a one way system operating but there's no way people are going to queue up the aisles waiting for every body to make their selections, Lidl was the worst, no one way system and very little space to queue for the checkouts
  7. yes but unless 'overtaking' is banned, or shopping from both sides of the aisle which it isn't you're nowhere near 6 feet apart. 3 feet max. It's the only way I can see me catching the virus
  8. we haven't even got social distancing now, it's impossible in Supermarket aisles, I really can't see pubs being kept shut till the end of the year, large sporting and music venues maybe, especially standing ones
  9. just Fender Precision isn't it? Fender do a signature model, at a price.
  10. I see 450 deaths today, I know it's a Monday but still a low total, a 'leading expert' is casting doubt on whether the lockdown was really necessary, the world is full of people who think they know better. I know I know it's in the Mail. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8235979/UKs-coronavirus-crisis-peaked-lockdown-Expert-argues-draconian-measures-unnecessary.html Anyway, the deaths and infections look like they have levelled off and the NHS has plenty of spare capacity (how long before someone is criticising the decision to open up the Nightingale Hospital?) so a gentle easing of restrictions is on the cards on May 7th, and if that goes ok they'll be more to follow
  11. Just confirmed, for me, that Elton John and Macca should retire gracefully, McCartney in particular was awful IMO, Tom Jones was a bit dodgy as well, Jagger and the Rolling Stones were the highlight for me, enjoyed Billie Joe Armstrong and Stevie Wonder has still got it, although I'm not a fan.
  12. interesting EQ setting from Mark King, hope he hasn't got the preshapes on as well 😀
  13. hopefully pubs will be opening June July time with restricted numbers which means we should be ok 🙂, but I can't see any of the summer festivals happening, but if they decide to let sporting events happen (Football) they can't really stop big gigs, festivals happening, as with everything depends how far the deaths and new infections fall so who knows?
  14. actually I've just another test using a microphone (play the click track through the speaker and record it, when I used the wireless unit this happened, first is the click track, second one is the mic connect directly and the third one is with the wireless unit in the loop
  15. cheers guys for your input, I've dug down a bit, ASIO drivers will not work with Audacity without jumping through a lot of hoops, I've done various latency checks and adjusted Audacity accordingly (it was about 50 milliseconds out), strangely there was no noticeable difference between wireless and cable, must have just been the way I was playing 😂. I'm not looking for perfection it's only a demo of a new song to give the rest of the band something to go on
  16. Can't remember, I just downloaded one off the internet, in fact I thought that was the name of the driver, it says MME in the audacity window. But as I've said I've only ever noticed latency when using the Boss wireless system, it seems fine otherwise
  17. wish I would get one of these, I could ask him how he got my webcam working, I've been trying for hours without any success.
  18. no, just bog standard Audacity, I do any tweaking after I've recorded it
  19. yes it sounded ok when I was doing the recording, but when I played it back it just sounded a bit out, thought it was my crap playing to start with but as soon as I switched to a lead it was fine, I recorded the guitar track as well with the Boss, that didn't sound spot on either but I use a lot of distortion so it was hardly noticeable. I'm recording using Audacity and my laptop with a cheap USB soundcard, maybe it's too much digital stuff in the signal chain
  20. always been a bit sceptical about noticing latency, just putting the bass track down on a demo using my Boss WL20 wireless unit, I thought bloody hell my timings a bit out, then changed to a normal lead and everything was fine, well for me anyway. Anybody else noticed this?
  21. I remember a thread from a while ago (sorry can't remember their names), someone asked a well known Jazz bassist how he chooses what notes to play, his reply was "Just play the root of the chord to start with then any old bollocks after that" 😂 probably not much help to you, but in my experience if it sounds ok it is ok
  22. the band have been asked to provide a 20 minute recording ( or even doing it live) of a few of our songs while in lockdown, the extent of my knowledge is this field is a 3 way whatsapp conversation. Any pearls of wisdom anybody?
  23. Brian Helicopter (Gareth Holder) of the early punk band The Shapes, great Ric sound, of course it's to do with how high in the mix it is as well, bit like JJ in the Stranglers was higher in the mix than normal, which is why it's noticed, not that it's not a great bass sound anyway
  24. mine was a Hondo too, I could flip it to a lefty without it being too obvious, could be a Matsumoto, still got it, a bit battered but I only paid £40 for it, I still reckon I can get nearer to the JJ Burnell sound than with my 'proper' precision.
