  1. chatting the the landlord of my local yesterday, (it shows Sky sports) I said "opening up on July 4th then? he said "might wait till the 6th, Derby and Forest are playing on the 4th, not fair on the staff having to manage people while they're watching that"
  2. no gigs anytime soon, no surprises there. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8454781/Coronavirus-revolution-Governments-issued-post-lockdown-rules.html
  3. where is it and what does it do?
  4. Introductory stage at Skegness Butlins, big crowd, the band were well up for it, good sound, some of it got filmed really well, and we won the day against two better known bands
  5. we've got one this Wednesday, big room, well away from each other, I suppose it's not strictly following the current guidelines, but a damned sight safer than public transport or going shopping and we're all allowed to got to work, just because we enjoy it doesn't make it not work, we get paid for gigs
  6. you may be on to something, I recently had to change my paypal account to business to receive payments from bandcamp
  7. no, never any option to give feedback, tbh it makes sense when a business has thousands of positive feedbacks, it's becomes more about the product than the businesses operating procedures
  8. no, this is stuff I'be just bought, but it is all from businesses as opposed to private sellers
  9. bit of a topic hi jack, have ebay abandoned the feedback system on purchases? on my recent purchases there's no option to give feedback, just 'write a review'
  10. makes Dee Dee's bass look like a steal 😂
  11. 😲 some people really do have too much spare cash
  12. new basses do come in just the cardboard box, but are they insured? Also I would imagine that the courier would look far more kindly on a claim from a major retailer who gives them loads of business than little old me
  13. that's part of the problem, I think they insist on a hard case, but it's not worth getting one for a sub £200 bass
  14. as the title, is it worth paying out when sending a bass with a courier, don't they all exclude musical instrument from insurance? BTW the bass is under £200
  15. I answered no, but I do use a bit of overdrive all the time, which, I believe, acts as a sort of compressor
  16. although not would you'd call prolific, I've had very little trouble on ebay, mostly just a bit of hassle, only once did I feel I'd been cheated out of money, that was when I offered a part refund because the buyer said goods were not as described, and that was to save the bother of paying return postage, find out the buyer had done the damage and then having to resell, should have known he had very low feedback, lesson learned
  17. fair enough, you've gone into it with your eyes open and are prepared to put up with the hassle and slight uncertainty of getting your money back
  18. new seller? alarm bells, I've only had trouble on ebay a couple of times, both had very low feedback. That's the other thing with fat-baby, says he's a dealer, with only 10 feedback? don't thing so.
  19. if he's scamming he's got me beat, not much of a scam is if he's not getting paid and paying ebay selling fees
  20. loads of stuff, WD 40 or Jiff for me, but not nail varnish remover as one of our ex guitarist found out to his cost on his nearly brand new Gibson SG 😖
  21. I don't think anybody would make boastful claims about their musicianship, in fact their 'charm' lay in the fact that they wrote simple good songs that more or less anybody could play
  22. I suspect it boils down as to whether you like the Ramones or not, they're an easy target if you don't, "anybody can play and write their simple songs with dumb lyrics", the same argument could be made about the early rock and roll stars like Buddy Holly, and anybody can write simple songs, the trick is to write good catchy simple songs, IMO the Ramones and Dee Dee in particular, continually pulled that trick off
  23. I can't see many gigs happening until all social distancing regulations are lifted
  24. I've set it up now, no real problems, had to change my primary email address, it just surprised me that all of a sudden I had to have a business account to receive payments form bandcamp
