I think we've had this discussion before on a similar thread, as far as I'm concerned it's from when the band achieved some sort of commercial success
-
surprised to see the Hollies in there, I thought Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliot were constant members
-
I had one of these for a few years (MB4210), the only reason I got rid was because of the weight, build quality not the best, but a bit like Behringer stuff faults occurred early on, after that they were ok, bit plasticky but they were relatively inexpensive at the time, always got a good sound of of it and bloody loud

must admit I can't tell the difference between 320 or 192bps mp3's (although I can tell when it gets down to 128bps) or lossless like wav files or even CD's, but then I do wear hearing aids. I used to be a bit of an audio file and agonise over what piece of equipment sounded best, it can be a curse
-
yes, I've just bought a new laptop, had to get an external USB drive for it, only £12 though, CD's are on the way out but they'll probably be a revival in about 20 years 😂
-
depends on numbers, for a small band with limited sales the unit cost of producing CD's is lower, and we've sold a lot more of them than the Vinyl version, mostly at gigs, granted Vinyl comes down the more you produce, more so than CD's edit, I remember when CD's first came out, they were about 15 quid and Vinyl about a tenner
-
I think the appeal of vinyl is as much to do with physicality as nostalgia, Cd's seem small cheap and plasticky (the original concept of the plastic jewel case doesn't help), art work is disappointing, and they usually disappear into the player, so you can't see them playing. Of course that doesn't explain the rise in cassette sales, a mystery to me. As for the sound, even if it's accepted that CD's sound better (and let's not go down that road) most folk are just not that picky about the sound quality,

lot's of cars don't have a CD player these days, mine doesn't, have to Bluetooth off my phone or use a memory stick, which isn't helping CD sales, one or two people commented on this when I was trying to sell them my bands last CD

and in monetary terms higher than CD's. I suppose if you're going to go digital you may as well just download it, or listen to Spotify, if you want something physical LP's are better, can't explain the rise in cassette sales though https://www.nme.com/news/music/uk-vinyl-sales-in-2020-are-the-highest-since-the-early-90s-2846310

unfortunately older amps like my Trace Elliot's only come with jack sockets the same with my Fender V2 speaker cabs

Bootleg Beatles have, or perhaps that's the real Macca after he faked his own death? 😄
-
I think you're ok if you make sure the power is off when connecting/disconnecting

yes that's what I meant, but why? to my ears the keys were high in the mix, the only reason I can think of he's not sure he can play it well enough anymore, so he's hiding behind the keys, why would he have keys at all on such a bass driven song? bit like lots of backing vocals to his singing, it's to cover for him, but as it has been mentioned he is 78, better than no McCartney at all, and at least we were spared Hey Jude 😄
-
yes that's the one, I listened through my hi fi, I'll have another listen through my headphones Edit, just had a listen and it sounds like keyboards to me, to my mind that's not the sound of his Hofner bass
-
just watched Paul McCartney at the Cavern which was shown on BBC1 on Christmas Day, enjoyed it, 2 things struck me, he had a lot of of help from the backing vocals, unsurprising bearing in mind his singing is a bit dodgy these days and fair enough. What did surprise me was the keyboards were doing the bass line to 'I saw Her Standing There' bit of a shocker, I've always struggled with that bass line and admired the way Macca could play it and sing at the same time, it would seem he no longer can.

I remember now, I bought a 2 pole replacement socket for a PA speaker and our speaker cable had 4 pole plugs, confused the hell out of me when they wouldn't plug in and twist
-
I seem to remember that NL4 and NL2's aren't interchangeable with each other, one won't plug into another's socket, well I had trouble once when I ordered the wrong plug

a lot of bands initially get together because they're mates, or become mates, like the Beatles, it's like being in a gang, it's only later on when bands get together because they're musicians, and then differences soon surface unless there's a clearly defined leader who decides things, the other follow for the money
-
this is more likely, it's very hard to stay 'mates' with someone when when band 'personalities' become more and more of a problem, and if you're on tour and living in each other pockets it's pretty much impossible I would imagine

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
PaulWarning replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
I had a stiff arm for a day or so, maybe I should had the prick in my prick -
I can spend hours messing about with EQ, my B1on pedal has endless possibilities, sometimes I think I've nailed the sound I want, come back a few hours later and realise I'm nowhere close 😠

Iconic pub venue in Nottingham to close
PaulWarning replied to DaytonaRik's topic in General Discussion
tbh, I don't think making money is the only consideration when running a live music venue, it's a love of live music as well, maybe that's part of the problem, some people who run live music pubs let the pub side of it down, like a decent pint, and some only book bands they like, not what will brings in the punters
