  1. The postage seems a tad unreasonable.
  2. Ayup mate. Where abarts in West Yorkshire a tha from?
  3. I like it too. I'd take that over a Fender any day.
  4. Be careful if they're paying you peanuts. The old folk have probably sucked the chocolate off them.
  5. I thought I had a nice barn to play in, but even I have barn envy at that.
  6. I'm kind of on the other side of this (nothing unusual there). But then the band thing is very much just a hobby for me. My heart really goes out to those of you who work in the music industry and rely on it for a living. It's extremely difficult and worrying times indeed. For my part, I'm loving working at a relaxed pace with my new band, which are actually selective former members of my old band, and having plenty of time to come up with new and original material without the added pressure to "get out there gigging". The other former members of my old band played their first gig last night. Rattling out the same covers we were doing a year ago, with a new bass player and drummer. Rather than being envious of them gigging, at 7pm last night when they would have been setting up and getting ready to go on, I was cringing at the thought and breathing a sigh of relief. Perfectly content with my feet up in front of the telly, after working on recording a new track in my home studio in the afternoon. Horses for courses really. But I'm far happier in the rehearsal room or studio than I ever was on stage. Whereas the other ex members priority was gigging as much as possible. So breaking up the old band actually turned out to be a win win for everyone involved.
  7. Bit of an update as I've now converted my home office into a bit of a recording studio to give me some inspiration in these lean live music times. It's not perfect, but it's perfectly adequate for what I need.
  8. I don't understand the negativity. They're both better bass players than I am. Then again, Kim Jong himself is probably a better bass player than me. 😂
  9. I don't even need to click the link. It had the words Jaco and fretless in the title. I'm out.
  10. The bass playing was great. The melody track on the other hand..... Ouch!
  11. Hi. Is this still for sale. I have a friend that might be interested.
  12. Seconded. They'll get you 99% of the way there for a fraction of the cost. Wilkinson stuff is superb. Especially at the price.
  13. Pretty much all Fenders. The headstock makes me want to barf. The whole Ibanez Soundgear range. Lovely basses, but the SDGR logo makes them look like a child's toy. Single cut high end basses like Fodera. I'd love to try one, but there's absolutely no need for the top of the body to go half way up the neck. It just looks crap.
  14. What a load of old tosh. There's no racism on here. We're all far too busy being sexist. 😘
  15. I must be even dumber, because i don't get the connection.
  16. I've been gassing over the six string version of this for months now. What are your impressions of it, other than the weight, which is what most reviews go on about.
  17. I've had a few bits of Vintage gear over the years and I've always found them to be superb. They punch well above their weight in terms of quality / cost. Especially the stuff with Wilkinson hardware. Which imho is 95 percent as good as anything out there, at a tenth of the cost. I'm currently having massive sellers remorse over selling my Vintage Les Paul guitar. I shouldn't have let it go, but I figured as I was never going to be a guitarist I may as well put the money into bass gear. Now I'm getting into recording and I need a guitar again. 😩
  18. I wouldn't say P basses are boring tonally, but looking at them either makes me want to sleep or vomit, depending on which part I'm looking at. The body is just dull, with an added coating of bland, and the headstock makes the elephant mans brow look attractive.
  19. Pressure from other band members usually. It was a difficult decision to quit, because we were all really good friends, and I enjoy the creative side of making music, but gigging for the sake of gigging, not so much.
  20. That's exactly what I did. I quit gigging, and the band I was in in September last year, well before the pandemic kicked in. I just didn't enjoy it. However, having had some time away, and currently in a new band doing all original material, I'm looking forward, although far from desperate, to get back to it. But I will be far more selective in what gigs I do. From now on it's going to be afternoon parties, barbeques, festivals, charity do's etc. I have absolutely no interest in playing in bars or doing late night gigs.
  21. EBay almost always sides with buyers. They can get away with murder. That's one of the reasons I stopped selling on there years ago. As a seller you have almost zero protection.
  22. It says in the add. The paint stripper ran so he painted a white stripe around the edge to mask it. Presumably with a tree branch.
