1.
Anyone ever worked out the groovy riff at the start of this ? Would love the music/tab of this....one to play with a synth bass effect for sure
Use to have this album embroidered on to my wrangler when I was 13. I was such a hipster, not.
2. Waiting for pics.
3.
Melodeath metal? These genre names are just getting worse and worse.
It's all Carcass's fault.
4.
he had to explain the bass player's role to dumb dermot.
I still don't know what the bass player is suppossed to do.
5. Like it.
6. The New York City bass that is manufactured in Japan? My head hurts.
7.
It's interesting that decade upon decade of musical instrument construction has yet to provide an agreed knowledge base about the mechanics of a guitar neck and the best methods of working with it. Entertaining though....
That is where luthiers fill the gap. If you've done hundrededs of fretstones/dresses by hand, you get a knowledge for them.
8. 3.5mm stereo jack, to left and right phono....iPOD to be plugged into a hifi?
9. I liked that.
10. Paint.
11. Rainy from Discharge.
12. Stripes have been earned, he is a bass god.
13.
Got to pipe in with Alex Griffin of Ned's Atomic Dustbin, the 'lead' bassist of the two. Rarely if ever see him mentioned, which is a real shame. Not a conventional player by any means but definitely my biggest influence, the first player to open my eyes to the different possibilities of the instrument. Big plus one for Morgan Nicholls too
Plus 1 on both off these. Alex is such a great bassist and Morgan did great work with Muse and Lily. I have had the pleasure of sharing many stages with both of these bass players.
14. Lived on the cut for a few years at Golden Nook. £6 per week moorings (1995) at the farm, I bet things are different now. Welcome.
15. Great thread Andrew, loving my Bjork night.
16.
MP !!!!!!!!!
Good luck VIB!
17.
I've met and played with many fantastic musicians who haven't the faintest idea about basic social skills, washing themselves or suppressing their freakish behaviour. You just have to balance up how much you need their talent against how much you don't want to be in their company.
This is so true.
18.
Yep me too. Most of the Fender and Rick basses I tried were awful to play, battered, dirty, and very overpriced, but the people were friendly and helpful and happy to let me play the instruments.
Spot on. When I went to try out a 66 Jazz, year of my birth, I felt like I was in a surreal junk shop. Everything was grotty and stained but they were very friendly and the shop has a nice vibe.
19. Oh, what a shame. I'll be seeing, UK Subs, Anti Nowhere League and Motorhead and lording it backstage with the bands. Damn, if only I knew I could have seen MM do his generic thing...my loss I suppose.
20.
Check out the 'For Sale' forum as I think there are one or two on there at the moment. I've just sold one, and I've owned two 1989 models in the past. They sound amazing. Check out the soundclips on this page: http://www.kubicki.com/player.php That's pretty much the untweaked, out of the box sound. A 32" scale bass has no right sounding that big and powerful!
The electrics are some of the best ever created for bass guitar.
21. Not tinny but what is initially a laclustre, unmusical eq, sits so right when playing with other people. And Status Graphite necked basses stay in tune.
