3. Interesting thoughts Mick.. Hope you can make the Bash as it'll be good to see you - but also, I'm sure peeps there will be very keen to see/hear this little fella in action! 😊
4. Fair enough 😊 Actually, I think I feel the same about them too...
5. ^^ I've never understood why you hate Jazz basses so much, Jack?
6. This is a great price for a proper Tobias Classic 5 IMO... I bought one from the Bass Centre in Wapping in 1993 that cost almost as much even then. My recollection is that these basses are beautifully resonant, play wonderfully because of the asymmetrical neck profile and sound great. GLWTS
7. ^^ Thanks Steve, Really looking forward to it! 😊 Will put your bass on the For Sale list later.. Nik
8.
Shouldn't we also start a list of raffle donations? RAFFLE DONATIONS: Trevor - Joyo OD pedal and pot-luck CD bundles
Good idea Trevor... 😊 I'll add in a bass stand to that, and I still have some stuff that you donated lat year, so I'll bring that to.
9.
Looks like I might be able to make it this year, if anyone wants a hand with setting up their compressor I'll be more than happy to sort you out....
Great news Si,and yes please! 😊
10.
Like Grangur said, you'll find everyone really approachable and more than keen to let you have a look at their gear. And a noodle if you pluck up the courage. It's a really, really fun day. Oh, and bring your bass and get Ian to do a quick set up on it. You'll be astonished at the difference getting someone to tweak the string height, neck profile etc will make to how well it plays... See you there! I'll be the guy with the MarkBass 2x10 and a couple o f Wal basses in the big room. Make sure to say, HI! and have a go on them!
+2 to yours and Grangur's posts Trevor, and welcome to Basschat Quevlar. 😊
11. Wow - that really is something to look at!! Totally new name in cab design to me but the Talk Bass thread has a 170 pages on these cabs, so he must be doing something pretty special? GLWTS
12.
Hadn't clocked that one, but his Spector Rex Brown is a length ahead of my thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/197657-spector-rex-20004-holoflash-thunderbird-and-upgrades/page__hl__rex%20brown - I may have to buy it just to nobble him (and because it's actually a really nice bass....) So nearly bought that one of yours recently FS Nik - can't remember details but I think it was a luthier build with vaguely Alembic shaped body? but I dithered too long and missed it....
Just bumped cetera's ad for him.. πŸ˜€ Not sure which of my basses you mean; was it the Hayman 4040 I sold about 4 or 5 months ago? And a BUMP for your Martin too! 😊
13.
Is this the oldest running "bass for sale" add?? GLWTS!!
+1 BUMP! 😊
14.
Geoff is a great bloke ... sorry to hear your calling it a day buddy Glwts
+1
15. ... maybe! πŸ˜€
16. No, I didn't have time to A/B the Elf against anything else unfortunately. I was actually trying out a Tokai Thunderbird when Dave at GB suggested I run it through the Elf. Might get a chance Monday though...
17. For anyone else interested in booking some work in with Ian Robinson on the day, he suggests you have a look at his website to see what work he does. www.string-instrument-repairs.co.uk
18. How frustrating is that!!
19. Good point Martin, Let's post things for sale here on this thread - do you want to get us started with your bass?? Nik
20. Sounds great! 😊 I have the later model of this guitar and it plays beautifully and has a lovely tone. Also, mine stays in tune really well - something that's so important IMO. I suspect yours is quite rare, and with the added provenance it has, I'd say this is a very good price for it. GLWTS
21. Just 2 weeks to go BUMP! 😊 And here's the updated schedule again: 11.15: Talk by Lee from Andertons Music Co. 12.30: Davey Rimmer, Uriah Heep bassist 14.00: Steve Lawson Workshop 15.30: Ped update on new Basschat website - this is subject to audio visual equipment being available on the day 16.00: South East Bash Raffle So; Andertons: According to Lee, he said he 'would love to come and meet us Basschatters and talk all things bass... what we want from a bass shop, what their plans are etc.... :-)' πŸ‘ Sounds pretty good to me! Davey Rimmer, Workshop With a bit of help from Gary, a.k.a. cetera, I'm really pleased to say that Davey Rimmer (bassist for Uriah Heep) has offered to give a 45 minute presentation on his career; gear choices, life on the road, Uriah Heep, Trevor Bolder etc. And, if we ask him nicely, he may demonstrate a few tunes for us! πŸ‘ Steve Lawson Workshop Steve had this to say about his workshop; '...Am happy to do whatever fits best - gig/masterclass/Q&A/bit of all three (I'm sure whatever I do will turn into a bit of all three of those. ' Again, it sounds great and definitely not one to miss! Ian Robinson, luthier Ian has kindly offered to come along again this year and do set ups and other techy stuff on the day. In order to make it worthwhile for Ian to come up for the day from the south coast for the day, it'd be good if he had an idea of any work that anyone might need. So, if there's anything that you need done on a bass, guitar, mandolin etc, please could you post up a request here so Ian knows what kit to bring up with him. Thanks! 😊 Other stuff We were hoping that walbassist could run a fretless bass workshop, but Gareth's now not available on the day, so hopefully we can do that next year instead. There will of course be all the usual other stuff going on of course, The Jam Room, For Sale area in the Foyer, the big Hall where you can set up all of you gear and basses, etc, etc and of course the Refreshments Area β˜•πŸ© in the Foyer brilliantly arranged and managed by 🌠 Mrs Hamster! 🌠 By the way, if anyone would like to donate some goodies for the Raffle, it would be very much appreciated! So, thanks again for looking and we look forward to seeing you next month! 😊 Nik/obbm/Happy Jack/bluejay
22. ^^ Oh, and Dave there at GB Music has this one for sale, with 3 more coming in next week...
23. Tried an ELF out yesterday at GB Music in Bognor (gbmusic.co.uk) and was amazed at the volume it out our for such a small piece of kit! It's half the size of my Zoom B3 , and smaller than some pre-amps I've owned in the past. Quite how it would be in a gig setting I've no idea, but it's a very clever piece of technology.
24. Lovely basses! GLWTS 😊
