1. Classic UK built bass that looks even better than I remember these being. GLWTS
2. A word of thanks from 4Sight...
3. Just sold a Gherson Jazz Bass to Chris, which must be about the 5th or 6th time we've bought/sold gear on Basschat... Apart from having legendary Basschat status, Chris is always a pleasure to deal with and is one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. Highly, highly recommended ! Thanks Chris - hope you enjoy the bass and here's to the next one.. 😁 Nik
4.
Well, the SEBB was a financial success and as usual we made a profit that has been distributed to good causes as follows: http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/ - Specifically for breast cancer http://prostatecanceruk.org/ - For those gentleman's nether regions http://www.4sight.org.uk/ - Supporting people with sight loss http://www.shootingstarchase.org.uk/ - A local children's hospice I am hopeful that we can arrange next year's SEBB at the same location around late September! I've already had a planning meeting, well it was actually an excuse to go to the pub, about what contacts we can approach to make a guest appearance at next years SEBB. The short list is impressive! Don't do anything stupid and book any gigs/weddings/proposals/bar/bat mitzvahs for the last two weekends in September 2018 - exact date to be announced as soon as I get confirmation. Keep it deep Colin
Thanks Colin, It's great news that we've been able to support 4 good causes this year. 😊 So, in terms of dates for next year's Bash, we're looking at either Saturday 22 September 2018 Or Saturday 29 September 2018 Pencil them in your diaries now, Folks!
5. Now SOLD - thanks for looking 😊 Hi Folks I purchased these high quality Dimension 4 studio acoustic panels here on Basschat three years ago from lapolpora for a project which is now finished, so they're no longer required and could do with finding a new home. At the time, I think I paid £300 for the panels, bu I'm only asking £100 or near offer for them now.. Here's a stock image of the panels: Basically, the panels do this job in a recording environment: "The Dimension4™ Project system is a high-quality acoustical tuning solution that offers enhanced sound control for the performance-conscious recording engineer. With absorbers made of patented “green” mineral wool composites for higher- performance sound control, Project is the ultimate choice for quality recording studio environments." (More info here: http://www.msr-inc.c...udio/project/project.html) Here's the link below to lapolporla's for sale advert, and his wording with all the details: http://basschat.co.u...sor-panels-sold "The kit was manufactured my MSR Inc and I bought if directly from them in the US. It comprises of five 4' by 2' absorber panels, five 4' by 2' diffusor panels and two 4' by 2' ceiling panels. The absorber and ceiling panels are made from rigid fibreglass. The absorbers are 3" thick tapering to 1.5" thick. The ceiling panels are 1" thick. The diffusors are the same dimensions and made out of polystyrene. All panels are covered in a light grey cara fabric which is very durable. All panels are clean and in good condition. The panels mount onto walls using the included mounting brackets. The ceiling panels have wire loops to hang down from hooks in the ceiling. It takes a bit of effort to install, but once done it addresses room reflections very well and provides a good environment for listening and mixing. Info on MSR here: http://www.msr-inc.c...udio/project/project.html For once, I'm afraid to say that I can't ship these as they aren't so easy to package up, so these are collection only, here in Littlehampton, West Sussex. However, if you're really keen on them and aren't local, then message me and we can talk about it... Anyway, if you'd like any more details or would like to come and see the panels, then please PM me. Thanks for looking Nik
6. Me too. Maybe a West Sussex/Hampshire bash could be in order...? 😊
7. *** NOW SOLD - Thanks for looking! ***
8. Great cab, bargain price and a great seller and well respected forum member! What's not to like... GLWTS Mike 😊
9. That's a cracking price for this bass with the upgrades and delivery included.. Looks great too! GLWTS
10. Cheers Karl! 😊 I agree - when Davey Rimmer was using one at the SE Bash last month it sounded great! Really clear, very punchy.. There's a lot of good gear for sale at the moment on here but, despite that, I've had surprisingly little interest in this cab?? It's only because I'd prefer not to sell a bass, that I'm actually selling this.. Otherwise, I'd keep it because it's so portable, as well as looking and sounding bomb-proof. Nik
11. Withdrawn from sale - it's just too good to sell !
12. Had a bit of a rethink on the price of this, so it's now £375 or near offer. Thanks 😊
13.
Bump for jhk. Lovely chap to deal with!
+1 Great cabs too! GLWTS Jon 😊
14. Watched it today and it's a really good documentary.. Amazing how many of their tunes I actually knew but this programme introduced me to a fair number of others I don't know - later works mostly - and they were great! Some nice shots of Colin playing a black Wal Pro too. 😊 Well worth watching, not least for the fact that Andy Partridge is a really interesting and funny guy.
15. +1 to all of the above words of wisdom.. And like bassbiscuits, I wish I'd known when I started playing as a 15 year old kid how much music and bass-playing would become a cornerstone of my life. If I had done, I'd have treated the learning aspects of playing bass a lot more seriously when I was younger as it would have been so much easier to learn stuff then!
16. *** NOW SOLD - Thanks for looking! *** Hi Folks A recent bass purchase means I'm trying to balance the books and, as a result, I now have this Genz Benz NX2 212-T Neo 600 watts 4 ohm Cab + Roqsolid cover for sale at £SOLD or near offer, plus p&p. Reason for selling etc.. I bought this in August 2015 from Hamfist and then sold it to chimike 3 months later when I went down a valve amp route and bought an Ampeg rig. Less than 6 months ago, I bought it back from Mike so I would have a lightweight cab in my kit bag. However, I'm just not gigging enough these days and whenever I do, it's with my Ampeg rig. So, in short, this is something that's not being used and if I can sell it here, then I won't have t sell my Schecter Diamond P5 bass that's currently for sale, which I think I'd rather keep.. Sound This is very subjective obviously, but IMHO it's a fantastic sounding cab that sounds great with my solid state Hughes & Kettner Bassbase 600 head, my Ampeg V4BH valve head and also with the Eden WT-400 head that I've just sold to geoff90guitar. One of the reasons I bought it originally was because I heard it was pretty much bomb-proof, and that's been my take on it so far - it can handle pretty much whatever you throw at it and it sounds great for pure bass tone but also with effects, like octave pedals, auto-wah, distortion etc.. Also, I bought it because it's lightweight at 47lbs and very easy to move around.. I also like the fact that it's quite a tall cab, so you can hear yourself more easily.. At the South East Bash last month, Davey Rimmer used one of these to demo some Uriah Heep songs in his workshop and it sounded great paired with a GK800 head and Davey's Warwick. Here's a link to TrevorR's film of it in action: https://www.facebook...?type=3 Photos, condition.. Here's link to some photos of the cab: https://flic.kr/s/aHsm5kaGee The cab is in good condition as you can see in the photos, but it's been used and as a result, it isn't mint. I'd say a 7.5 out of 10.. Spec, reviews etc Full spec can be found here: - http://www.genzbenz....&sid=725&cid=96 Ed 'The Bass Whisperer' Friedland's very good review of the cab is worth a look at:https://youtu.be/5BrLRqcXZ5g https://youtu.be/5BrLRqcXZ5g And there's some useful discussion (see quote below) on these cabs here on Talkbass: hhttp://www.talkbass....x2-212t.929725/ "..Amazing cabinet. I borrowed it from a good friend for two big gigs. I had the opportunity to use it on a rather large stage with a Streamliner 900. You wouldn't believe the volume and tone this thing has for such a small light box. The next day used the cabinet with an Ampeg SVT 3 head and it was even more amazing. The gig was outdoors with a rock band and volume wasn't an issue. Nice tight bottom end. I use a 1976 P Bass with La Bella Flat Wounds. The cabinet was able to produce a nice vintage tone. I'm also getting older and weight is a big issue for me. At 47 lbs, your back will be thanking you at the end of the night. I have luggage that weighs more than this when I go to Thailand every summer. Definitely going to pick one up soon. They're not cheap but well worth it." Shipping, trades etc This is sale only I'm afraid... And as for shipping, obviously, I'd prefer this was collected. having said that, I am happy to courier it if you're too far away to come and collect. But, I won't ship unless you're prepared to pay the additional £10 or so that it usually costs to insure these items up to the right value - it's just not worth the risk. But if you are reasonably local and would like to come and try it out, then please PM me to arrange.. Tea/Coffee/Biscuits in plentiful supply of course... Thanks for looking and If you've any more questions, please ask away here or send me a PM. 17. Location/Venue: Upstairs at The Nightingale Pub, Wood Green, London. 2nd August, 1978. Your age: 'I was just 17...' Your bass: Hondo Rickenbacker 4001 copy, bought by my mum from Kay's catalogue in 1977. I still have it.. Your amp: Can't remember exactly, but I think it was a Carlsbro Stingray 100w head and a home made cab of some description. The set list (some of it): All original songs.. a set of dystopian ditties about cloning, nuclear war, the winter of discontent and other such cheery late 70s topics. Anything else that might be funny/interesting/embarrassing: Just the hair, the clothes and the make up! Actually, the Nightingale pub was a venue played at by a lot of upcoming bands and artists over the years, including Roxy Music, Vinegar Joe, UFO. For those that might be interested, there's some more info about it and another Wood Green music venue called The Fishmongers Hall here: http://www.bowesandbounds.org/m/blogpost?id=6278630%3ABlogPost%3A46792
