  1. Thanks Jack! ☺ Happy Christmas and Happy New Year btw... Nik
  2. Cheers Colin, Can't find your feedback thread to return the compliment - do you have one? Nik
  3. Met with Dave, aka Dvisions, yesterday and bought a very cool Boogie & Berg rig from him.. Everything went really well, very good comms throughout and Dave's an easy guy to deal with, so I'm more than happy to recommend him to one and all here on Basschat! Thanks very much Dave ☺
  4. These DAS audio 12" drivers are seriously good units for bass guitar.. I fitted them to this cab after taking some advice from stevie (of this parish) about them, and he definitely knows his stuff and rates the DAS drivers very highly. All in all, the empty Ashdown cab and the 2 drivers cost me £200, so this is a very good deal indeed!! GLWTS
  5. Good thanks and hope you are too.. ☺
  6. Hi Merton, Shame, but I hope all's well with you otherwise and that you've had a go Xmas.. Back on topic - this is a quality bit of kit though.. Very good person to deal with too!
  7. Fabulous! Where's Merton?? 😁 GLWTS
  8. Wow! This is an unbelievably good deal for a quality five string instrument with the addition of the Thunderbucker 66s 5 string p/ups.. GLWTS
  9. That's a lovely example of a 70's Jazz - my favourite colour combination in fact.. GLWTS
  10. +1 So much faster! Thanks Basschat Team ☺
  11. One of my big bug bears over the years is the sometimes lazy, very generic treatment of the bass by soundmen at gigs that I've played at - or been to as a punter -and often, the biggest sin is that they compress the life out of the bass in the overall mix. That's not to say that I haven't hear great bass sounds in live & studio settings, or used compression myself and liked it -I have! But sometimes I think compression is used as a rather blunt tool by engineers who, if I didn't know better, I would swear were guitarists in disguise...?
  12. Very nice ☺ I had an all natural '77 Stingrays once, and it was one of the most resonant basses I've ever owned. What's more, no other Stingray I've ever had or played since then, ever sounded as good. There's definitely some magic about the early Stingrays! GLWTS
  13. Great looking bass, Karl! One of the best colours I've seen on one of the T-Birds.. GLWTS
  14. Great work again, Silvia! Thanks for all your hard work on this, yet again.. ☺
  15. Hi Folks My best mate, who's also a very fine drummer, is looking for a bass player to start up an alternative rock covers band in the North London area (he's based in N21). There's already a singer and guitarist in place, plus a rehearsal space for low volume practicing, so the addition of an experienced (and not too young) bass player is all that's required to get this project going. Musical influences include amongst others Bowie, Roxy Music, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters and other edgy post-punk, new wave artists.. Initially, it's just about getting together for the sheer love of playing and making a noise but some gigs in the future are definitely possible depending on how things go... For more info, please PM me or send an email to Louis: [email protected]. Thanks for reading.. Nik
  16. Love the look of this! Have PM'd you...
  17. Wow! More 'holy grail' speakerage for sale just before Xmas, along with the EAD 212 that's just come up. These look fantastically well built and what's more, there's 2 of them. Amazing..☺ Anyway, GLWTS
  18. Always loved the look of these cabs and have heard great things about how good they sound. GLWTS
  19. +1 It sounds really good in the YouTube clip, and it looks very cool too! GLWTS
  20. Looks very cool to me! GLWTS ☺
  21. Good thread... And it's an easy question to answer for me; David Bowie & The Spiders from Mars.
  22. Great little amps these... I used to use one regularly with an SWR Triad, a Lakland DJ5 and a Fender RBV for gigging and it was really good! The inbuilt, push-button e.q. setting for 5 string basses was particularly useful as was the 'contour' control and overall, it had a really powerful, punchy and crisp sound to it! Pretty lightweight IIRC, so quite easy on the back too. ☺ Anyway, before I get overly nostalgic, GLWTS.
