  1. I'd suggest the song or band is boring rather than the bass line! Some bass lines are repetitive but I still enjoy playing them, if you're in a good band with groove!
  2. People will do it. Because playing live is fun to alot of people, and a hobby. Obviously any musicians of any calibre wouldn't consider it, but if you don't ask you don't get! Not a big deal for me!
  3. Haha! Dont see it happening any time soon... but to be fair, I don't think they're overly rare, so keep your eyes peeled!
  4. Am I allowed to play with this bad boy? Bb1000 from 1978, bought from our very own PawelG a few months back. I wasn't using it live until a few weeks ago as I kinda love my 5 string but I've forgotten how much i love 4 string basses! Will be playing this as my #1 for the next wee while.
  5. I'm a massive yamaha fan. Dont think I've played a duff one! I'm currently gigging a '78 bb1000 which is a P bass, but plays fantastically well. Quite heavy, but great neck plus you have the kudos of playing a 'vintage' bass. can pick them up for the low end of your budget and will only increase in price!
  6. I do a lot of deps, mainly for function and wedding bands, and what I've came to realise is that the general public really dont care what the bassist does most of the time.
  7. I bought a cheapo one for a fender jazz bass and I gaurantee no-one would've told the difference. It's probably worth keeping the old one though for resale purposes.
  8. off to see them in a few weeks. looking forward to it!
  9. I had one of these. I totally gubbed it and sold it for peanuts , but still wish I had it! A genuine looker and I used to get people commenting on it all the time! Plays well too! I'm not buying, but good luck with the sale!
  10. I've had both, the jive was far slimmer and extremely comfortable. Gigged one for a year. Replaced it with a 'real' jazz and I was disappointed.
  11. I have this exact one. It's as easy as 5 strings can play! I think mines might even have the same preamp mod! Wish this came up 6 months ago!
  12. The way I see it is with bass gear, if you buy second hand, you generally don't lose much money, so really it's actually a relatively cheap hobby! But as others have said, if it makes you happy, then that enjoyment will come through in your playing! As long as you're living within your means, I say go for it!
  13. Bought a yamaha bb1000 from pawelG, great price, well packaged, and always available on private messages! would happily deal with again.
  14. Surely a Sandberg VM4 clone? I bet this is flipping great!
  15. I must admit, I didnt quite follow what he did there with the latency... the latency was less when the sample size was higher?
  16. Has anyone had the chance to try one of these, specifically the 2.2? any issues at all? Solid enough drivers? , I've experience with the Onyx pre's which seem to be pretty good, and this as mentioned by Bigwan, seems very similar to the scarletts. Seems a ridiculous price for what you get! I'm in the market for a 2 input interface so this might be the one!
  17. I think they sound perfectly fine! I only really change when they start to show physical signs of wear! Saying that.. If I really needed a clangy type metal sound or punk, or a right hifi slap tone I might feel differently.
  18. damn! my first 'proper' bass - I defretted it and took it down the natural wood! I do question some of my decisions in my youth! haha I'm ball deep in a house move right now so not the right time for me but if its still here in a few months I might come back to you! GLWTS
  19. That's lovely! Mine was a cheapo pbass copy my mate gave me when I was 16 to fill in in his covers band. It was rubbish, but done the job. It was sunburst but I ended up spraying it a salmon pink. I gave it to a girlfriend as she fancied learning.. And she may very we still have it!
  20. The only down side to the BC is the horrific headstock decal! 😅
  21. I had a bass collection jazz, the one with the babibz (sp!?) Bridge. It was an awesome bass. Amazing neck.
  22. I'd say my nanyo bass collection. 200 quid and it's bloody astounding. Everything of it feels quality. I bought it basically to try it, as I'd heard good things... But it absolutely exceeded expectations! It's my #1 bass now. I've played dep gigs with absolute strangers who've commented mid set on how clear and precise it sounds. Obviously I take full credit for it, but it's entirely this bass!
  23. I've got one. I don't use it as a standalone, and because we're all spoiled with how easy it is to punch in and out on a daw, I doubt I would. But, on the other hand, I bet it would make me think alot more about whay I'm recording! General navigation is pretty simple though! And the best bit is, once you have your tracks you can simply transfer them onto a pc to expand them!
