1. Wow! You have picked a widely ranging genre. However, with your further description, the previously mentioned Cream, Free, Zep, Jeff Beck Group are all good sources. I would also do a YouTube or Spotify search for "Muddy water blues Paul Rodgers full album" as that album features an awful lot of different, although still 'heavy', styles due to the variety of guitar players involved, including Slash. Plus, it's Pino on bass, so wins all round.
2. Wowsers! That seems a bit of alright. Congrats.
3.
Aye... I wonder how the WoT family would feel about a holiday in Germany this year...?
It's where all the smart people go on vacation, surely?
4. Oh my word, it's positively raining new Maruszczycs on BC. Congrats to one and all, you lucky lot. As for Adrian's shop, I've never seen so much bass stock! Wow, just wow!
5. SO MUCH MARUSZCZYK PORN!!!! I'm loving it; roll on March.
6. Ooh, it's all happening in this thread all of a sudden. That all black looks stunning, cocco.

Why Fret?

I did one myself, which wasn't bad at all. I've also had one does professionally by The Gallery which was awesome. DIY only cost me in the plastic wood I used to fill the slots, glass paper and time. The pro job was just over £100 including a set of La Bellas, but that was while back. Worth it? You betcha (both times).
8.
So 10 weeks after my order was placed is officially tomorrow!!!!
Now the, "When, when, when?" thoughts really ramp up. I'm just 5 weeks in and I'm trying to remain calm, but I did start ogling my photo mock up yesterday.
I need to stop checking my emails every couple of minutes! And reading this thread too
Any word?
9.
Interesting right-hand technique too... he seems to alternate between anchoring the thumb and plucking with i and m, and anchoring with a and/or the little finger and plucking with p and i (and probably m). Nice!
I liked that too. Ultimately, use what works when you need it. No technique is off limits.
10.
Rick porn is the equivalent of a "grab a grot night" - you all need to go to Specsavers"
I did and I still bought one, it 'spoke' to me. Hmm, maybe I should've bought a hearing aid too
11. I used to make leads up using Neutrik jacks and I had a devil of a time getting a half solder on the chassis/earth. I too have what I consider pretty good soldering skills, having built amps, effects and repaired boards as an office equipment engineer.
12.
Ha, next Week, I'll visit my "Friend" Adrian in his Showroom in Aldenhoven. It is about 35km from my Home and ist's always fun to talk, and maybe jam with Adrian. We have a Coffee together and talk about Basses, Musik and everything. He really such a gentle Person. So many great Basses in his Showroom. It is always hard, to leave him, without a new Bass. Lets see, if i can do it this Time.....
I think you can safely say, "Hi!" from the owners, owners in waiting (of which I'm one; very excited ) and fans of his basses on Basschat.
13.
Isn't Palladino largely playing the same lines as Entwistle but with a less harsh distorted and trebly tone?
I feel the great man can't help finding a groove and not having Moon all over the kit makes that easier. That makes those lines that are completely JE and not PP's version of them, slip into the background, combined with, as you quite rightly point out, a more traditional bass tone (I couldn't abide JE's tone at the end; just unlistenable. Now it's Townshend's Satriani impressions that make me want to reach for the mute button).
14. Well, you know what we always say, no pics, never happened. But now that has been rectified - oh my! Dribble, dribble, hubba, hubba! Those blocks just make it pukka.
15. Who can the OP learn the most from? Well, for the most part, great as he was, Entwistle soloed through the Who's canon, being pretty much the lead player in the band, while Townshend held down the rhythm (probably the reason most folks don't like Pino with the Who, he's playing rhythm too). Squire, on the other hand, was mostly supporting the guitar and keyboards while they went off on one. So, if the OP is in a band where he can solo all the time, JE is the one to pay more attention to. However, if his role is more traditional, CS is a better example. IMO listen to both (they were both fantastic musicians, ahead of their time and just monster technicians) and just take what works for you.
16.
Ian McShane..?
I just looked it up, Gold Star to Mr Discreet it seems.
17. Blackstar and Hughes and Kettner amps have a DI or line out, as does the Fender Super Champ.
18. I've ordered a whammy bar from them which was quoted as delivery with 10 days. Latest update, early April! It's over £30 cheaper than anyone else and I'm not desperate for it, so I'm happy to wait. It is a bit annoying though.
19. I used one of these http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/guitarstraps_detail.asp?stock=09111216204038 with all of my Stingrays and finally settled on Grolsch bottle stopper washers as straplocks after using both the Schaller and Dunlop systems.
20. I'm trying to maintain some kind of calm during my build (we're now a month in). I'm doing OK and don't think about it too much, but I think that, come the end of the month, I'm going to be 'itching' like a junkie. I already can't not look at a thread that has Maruszczyc in the title. Dark times ahead ahead folks
21.
.that was 1989
Not on Dave
22. I quite like it, but not at that price. Also, from Zimbabwe? Hmm...
23. Just trying to keep my feed back current
Hi All, I bought this off EZBass - of this forum - a few days ago. Great chap! I'm loving this beauty. Been wanting to try one for ages - but they are quite rare. This was full-on black - but was stripped back to bare wood and lightly varnished. EZBass had a bit of enamel on the top, with a bit of plastic laminate, which I removed. I got over-zealous taking the paint off, which left witness lines. I ended-up having to sand the whole thing back down through the varnish - took ages , even with a sander. I've put some beeswax polish on it now, and I thought I might as well sand the neck down too to remove the roundwound marks and take away the slightly proud and sunk fretline markers (impercetible to some, but you can 'sense' these lines when wiping your hand across - and they do interfere with the 'mwah' too). Anyway, I levelled the neck and wet-sanded from 400-1500, then used T-Cut for a mirror finish, and light coat of lemon oil... I can almost see myself in the neck now! I also re-cut the nut. the factory setup was crazy high. Just silly. Strings are now pretty much on the fretboard, where they should be. Plays wonderfully with the flatwounds. The preamp and pup are very decent to my ears, although it's true that it can be a bit hissy with treble boosted right up (but nobody should go that far anyway really) The ramp is a great bonus. For me, it aids speed and fluidity substantially. Winning!
24. Boo! One of those who was literally, 'what's not to like?'.
25. This review is music to my ears. I'm having a fretless Elwood L built at the moment and I'm really looking forward to when it's delivered.
