1. An Ibanez SR505 will cost around £525 new and even less used. This one at GG is a Japanese model, so expect better spec. Distance selling, 7 day try out period. http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars_detail.asp?stock=PX151224291842001
2. Ooh, I forgot, Rob Allen basses.
3. There are lots out there. As BassBus asked, budget is key. I had an Ibanez GWB35 that was very nice, but they make a more expensive version with 'better' woods and hardware (it's all subjective of course), the GWB1005. Then there is the Pedulla Pentabuzz. And then there is... the list could be quite extensive.
4.
Holy crap! Text from FedEx saying expected delivery on Thursday morning.
Ooh, exciting times! I had Mrs Ez transfer the funds today (I should've paid for it all up front with the crap rate of exchange at the mo) so I'm guessing delivery next week sometime for me.
5. Two lovely S fakers back to back; you are spoiling us.
6.
@ezbass:Your Jay Bass is a Looker too. Goes a little bit in the oposite Direction. "Reduce to the Max", or is it Active 2-Band? Anyway. Have Fun with your new Basses.
Totally passive with series/parallel/single coil switch. Now the wait for the funds to be transferred and the delivery to happen.
7.
They had at least 2 other hits - "I refuse" and "Looking for Linda" - the first is brilliant, the second a piece of sh*te...
They passed me by completely.
8.
BARGAIN!!!
And then some; blimey! Best signature bass Fender ever built IMO.
9.
I love the way it actually looks like it's got teeth.
That's exactly it. It looks like a real mean MF.
10.
What are the 3 pot for in your stingjay? Is it volume treble/bass?
Vol, tone, 3 way switch: series, parallel, single coil. It's all passive.
11. The sofa shot has arrived! It's a 'Jay bass.
12. 2nd hand EBS Unichorus. Chorus, flange or pitch modulation. Wet/dry mix via a trimpot on the board. I've had mine for years; love it. There's one in the FS section right now http://basschat.co.uk/topic/257949-unichorus-ehx-hog-grand-orbiter-two-custom-cogs/page__p__3007778__hl__unichorus__fromsearch__1#entry3007778
13. Nothing wrong with basswood, Ibanez use it on a wide range of basses and guitars and it withstands having monster whammy bars being fitted and used.
14.
Did anyone think the exhibitors were a bit thin on the ground? There seemed to be loads more the last time I was there.
I didn't go this year, but previously I had seen a year on year decline of those showing.
15. I know one of the Shakatak singers well (she occasionally gets up and sings with my band) and George still uses that JD extensively.
16. Big Area - Then Jerico Labour of Love - Hue & Cry
17. Some scratches on the body and head - the bass?
18. Ergonomics, sound, looks, in that order. So in terms of looks (and to some extent ergonomics) I like a 2+2 head (or 3+1 at a pinch) a sparse looking control layout - not too many knobs - and a lightweight, but not too small body. Hmm, why do I play a Ric then?
19. It's ten weeks this week; I'm starting to itch with excitement!
20. I don't think living in a large conurbation helps at all; wood for the trees and all that. I understand the frustration, though.
21. Another Polytune user here, works well with my Rob Allen five string.
22.
I don't get, and have never gotten, the fuss about Warwicks. I know some people love them, but TO ME they're ugly, heavy, feel terrible, don't sound good... and you pay a considerable amount of money for the very dubious privilege of owning one.
Me too and I really want to like them, but to no avail. I've also owned 3 Ibanez SRs and while I got on with them well enough, I never really bonded with them. Maybe those 50s designs were right the first time.
23.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium: Dani Califormia Snow Charlie Desecration Smile Tell Me Baby 21st Century Readymade That's it - the rest is filler
Good call.
24. It depends where I am: ear buds with iPod on the bike; in built speakers in the computer (they're rather good); hi-fi in the lounge if listening to a cd. However, most of the music I listen to is on the radio and then it's mainly on the DAB or in the car. My band recently recorded 4 tracks in the studio and the mixes sound different dependent on what I use to listen, the best (to my ears) is on the hi-if.
