  1. I’d like to hear a remixed version of Clockwork Angels, the production is too dense and mushy for my ears and hides some fantastic tunes.
  2. That’s a yes I think from the images on t’internet.
  3. My ring tone is the intro to Spirit of Radio and screensaver the cover of Test for Echo.
  4. I’ve been listening to/watching Lari Basilio since she popped up on my YouTube suggestions. Her backing band for her upcoming album are: Nathan East, Greg Phillinganes and asinine Colaiuta - not too shabby. She’s also just been announced for the guitar and bass show next month.
  5. I love all of their 80s output and even the early 90s (yes, I’m the one person who likes Presto and Roll the Bones).
  6. * Then you, sir, will require fish and poutine.
  7. The first band I was in when I took up the bass had a new drummer who started when I did. We did some rehearsals and some gigs and it was OK, but I never felt that lock that I heard people talk about and just assumed , because I was new to the bass, that it was me and I wasn’t any good. Some time later we had a couple of gigs which the drummer was away for and a friend of mine, who I know is a great drummer, depped for him. One song in and there it was, the lock. It all sounded and felt so much better. The next gig, my buddy was depping again and the band’s old drummer, from before my time, asked if he could sit in for a couple of songs. Again, there it was, that thing between the drums and the bass. I never doubted myself again in terms of being to able to be a proper part of the rhythm section. @wal4string you might like this, if you haven’t seen it already, Rick Beato gushes about the maestro Gadd.
  8. Double P for the win. You won't be sorry. Been there. done that, loved the sound.
  9. Oh, oh! The puns begin. Be afraid, very afraid. I think think some folks are angling to derail this thread. I don't disapprove, as some lightheartedness can tackle some of the heavier comments, which often ends in the posters making a rod for their own backs. Ooh, is that my coat?
  10. I’ve been using cobalts for a few years/sets now and I’ve not had an issue with tuning stability, nor have I had the rust problem reported in other threads. I hope that EB’s quality control isn’t slipping as these strings gain popularity.
  11. Isn’t the Lakland Daryl Jones a slimmed down Jazz, or am I imagining it? The Maruszczyk Elwood L is certainly smaller.
  12. Rag and bone man. Unfortunately, that’s as far as I’m able to go.
  13. Yeah, you do hear through bone to some extent (they do a test through the back of your skull as part of a thorough hearing test, which is a bit freaky) but your eardrums do the heavy lifting.
  14. Flowers in the Rain, again by The Move. I talk to the Trees - Clint Eastwood.
  15. Some clever, reverse marketing there, I mean, we have all had a look. It’s a rather nice thing to my eyes, not that I’ll be bidding mind.
  16. My old Thunder 3 that I defretted, together with 6 string interloper, neither of which I have anymore sadly (GAS and all that).

    Gibson ES-355

I have the Epi Casino Coupé, which is the same size as the 339, great value and top tones, a little too reduced in size for me though (sticks in my ribs).

    Gibson ES-355

Yeah, way too bling, but a good design.
  19. That’s disgusting and I smell horse manure. Unsafe my rear end; unsafe, how so?

    Gibson ES-355

Ooh, I’d like one of those. However, if his main reason for buying a particular model is because the logo is inlaid rather than silk screened, then getting out more is recommended.
  21. Seeing BV at a recent London Bass Guitar Show is the reason I started using a pick even more. I was already using one on covers where the original had been played with a pick, but after seeing Bobby I tried it on everything and went with what seemed to work best for the song live.
  22. Funnily enough, I played it fingerstyle and with a pick just yesterday, just for practise. Both were fine, just a little bit different. Do whatever, you’re most comfortable with.
  23. I have a 5 string MB2, but I really wanted a 4 (beggars, choosers and all that). Having played one of Jabba's creations, I could easily be persuaded to shift my allegiance.
  24. Mmm, 🤤 a Jabba fretless. Be still my beating heart (and bank account).
