1. Of course we haven't yet mentioned his fusion work in PSP (Phillips, Saisse, Palladino) which is yet another genre he excels in. Irritating isn't he?
 2. Try these guys http://www.rickysounds.co.uk
 3.
I wish they'd do a deacon signature/tribute
Actually I don't think JD would let them use his name, he seems to be a very diffident chap. However, it would be rather cool and would probably sell quite well compared to other signature basses FMIC have churned out.
 4. Now't to worry about, but why not fit a Hipshot D tuner to give you the low D on the E string and move your fingerings around for the other notes required?
 5. Battle Studies isn't my favourite John Mayer album (that would be Continuum, which is almost perfect), but Pino's playing on these two tracks is sublime IMO (when isn't it?). It doesn't hurt that Steve Jordan is on drums either. The little fills from 0:49 onwards are lovely http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGEdukHtTsc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP4cpVzw_Lc
 6.
Great stuff... That looks like Johnny Turnbull on guitar from the Blockheads?
You are correct, sir. Pino's fingers on the outro of 'Playhouse' look sooo long.
 7.
Not at all Kev, I think you`ve nailed it there. I love my Barefaced cabs, they really are the best option for me, in size, weight and tone. I`ve had many other cabs and some have been ok, some I`ve really loved, but my - insert X Factor fave word journey here - has led me to Barefaced and I`m very pleased with them. But if anyone likes another brand better, well that`s their choice, and their requirements are probably different to mine - not wrong, just different. I`ll happily recommend BF to anyone, but where would the point be for me to say someone is wrong for not liking them - provided they`ve tried them that is. My view is no-one can objectively tell if they like a bit of gear from the way someone else is using it, as the eq selection could make it sound rubbish for example. A bit of gear needs to be tried out personally, and more often than not in a band setting, before an opinion can be reached.
The voice of reason on BC? Arrgghh! Burn him, he's a witch! Congrats to Alex C on securing a big name endorsee. It's great to see smaller manufacturers getting recognition, especially a home grown one.
 8.
Cool, Yeah , based on your description he's someone I should know about, Thanks Blue
Check him out, you won't be disappointed. He's one of the reasons I play bass.
 9.
Which album would you recommend to a Simple Minds virgin, bassline wise? Pref. where Derek is playing a Vigier.
New Gold Dream and Sparkle in the Rain would get my vote.
 10. Well that was 8 minutes well spent, thanks for sharing.
 11.
I was interested to see that TC 'sub n up' octaver, which I'm assuming does a +1 octave as well as -1 and possibly -2. I use the micro POG for a +1 and it's great, but that TC looks to be much smaller!
Yeah, that looks interesting. You're correct about the one up, two down. It's polyphonic too. Good video on the TC site.
 12.
He did....
I looked for that but couldn't find it on the MM website, mind you it seemed all over the place (the St Whoever was described as a Steve Morse Y2K). Still, on that bass it was only the colour that was 'inspired' by TL. What about a 'Barbi' pink 5 string as per the OLP sig bass?
 13. You'd think that Sterling would make an exception for Tony Levin.
 14. I think it's safe to say that even with the current noticed price hike for custom builds, Adrian's instruments are still really good value for money. I'm certainly thinking of another build (the wife is sitting opposite me as I type this, I hope she can't read upside down). EDIT: oops, busted!
 15.
Yes it's not very rockstar...
My Phil Jones set up is small too (especially if I drive the active cab with a Bass Buddy), but no one, other than other bass players, is looking at it really.
 16. Ooh, that's wee. Still nice looking though.
 17.
See, that's kind of my problem, I don't rate the CS build.
They are more handmade than the standards, as I understand, which is why is used them as a comparison. I've only played one CS, a Reggie Hamilton; I quite liked it as I remember.
 18.
I've been through the "smallest possible gigable setup" thing over the last year or so... I found 1x 112 to not quite be enough for me. I went from 2x 112, to a 210 to my current set up of 2x 110s, which is super portable and easily loud enough for my needs. The whole rig weighs 16kg.
I don't normally find rigs particularly nice to look at, but this is an exception for me. How about a pic with one of your Wals, just for porn's sake; maybe proportion too, but mainly porn?
 19. That scratch plate looks very classy, it really lifts the look IMO. GLWTS; great basses.
 20.
Interesting, so it feels like one whole thing as opposed to parts? Gotcha.
Everything fits as if they've been made for each other, rather than just raiding the parts bin.
 21.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you play US P's for a bit? How are they in comparison? I've never actually played a USA Fender!
I've had a '63, a US and a MIM Roadworn P. I have also had US and MIM Jazzes. I'll discount the '63, as that was something very different due to its age, but the others, by comparison to my Elwood L, felt very 'put together'; a collection of parts (albeit a well put together collection of parts - for the most part). The Elwood L feels more organic and hand crafted, which, of course, it is.
 22.
Really need to see and play one of these up close. I'm guessing a retail deal would put them around £1300 plus... and that puts them in another league..?
Still cheaper than a mass produced Fender US Standard (£1400 at Guitar Guitar) and street loads cheaper than a Custom Shop which would the comparable build. Man alive I really sound like a fanboy! Probably true, but with good reason
 23. London and Home Counties seems to be around the £250 mark, give or take.
 24. I've been using George L's for more years than I can remember, both for bass and guitar (thick and thin gauges) and I've always been happy with them. I acquired a Fender one with an instrument some time back and I agree with gjones, they're awful.
 25. Lovely looking, especially the white on maple block inlays.
