1. There is some very tasty Jake action on these pages at the moment.
 2.
I've got a set of second hand classic vibes (from a 50s one my mate upgraded) in a very cheap chinese tele, it sounds shockingly good now, when it probably shouldn't.
Those Classic Vibe pickups are ace.
 3.
Couple of week, I hope..
Exciting times!
 4.
I've had no luck at all with strap locks. I find them really fiddly. I bought a bag of 100 rubber Grolsch bottle washers about five years ago off eBay for a few quid and installed them on all my basses and guitars. Solid as a rock but easy to remove. And they're a lovely pink colour...
+1 Having used Schaller and Dunlop, I find I prefer the Grolsch solution.
 5.
Two Mk IIIs coming my way soon
Two? Kerching! How long do you have left to wait?
 6.
It's nice to see some reviews, but his old-school/new breed distinction seems a bit arbitrary IMO. I'd consider the Chromes and Ernie Balls to be modern sounding flatwounds, which don't thump like LaBellas even after a couple of years of use. I'm using Sadowsky flatwounds at the moment (which are a LaBella variant), which are more old-school than the reviews I'd read had led me to believe. On my bass, they just instantly sound like it's 1968 or thereabouts. It's a cool sound which I do enjoy, but I'm currently trying to decide whether I need to go a step or two brighter and clearer sounding for one of the projects I have planned...
Try the EB Slinky Cobalts, quite roundwound sounding to my ears, but with a far more polite top end.
 7. I really like all of this video, but if you want to skip to the Lee Sklar pertinent bit, go to 3:41 - 5:45. What makes me really smile about this video, apart from the incredible Mr Sklar, is that you can almost see that DW kit wince when Abe Laboriel Jr lays into it; the man is a monster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcDBYvOonP4
 8. Finally got around to uploading my band's demo to my own Soundcloud account https://soundcloud.com/ezbass-1/sets/the-diamondhearts-demo
 9. It's OK, it's a new millennium Chili Peppers' track, it could easily be on Stadium Arcadium. Not groundbreaking, but not offensive either.
 10.
It gets even more bonkers when you see the neck profile...it's tricky to photograph though.
11. It's totally bonkers, but I really like it.
 12.
Late to this party obviously, but the 1212L is the punchiest cab I've ever used. You will always be heard in the mix in any size room whether you have PA support or not. Can sound a bit odd at home or in quiet rehearsal but sounds lush and powerful at gigs - where it counts.
+1 Great cabs.
 13. Adrian has just put this demo of my Elwood L on YouTube I think it sounds even better now it has the EB Cobalt Flatwounds on it.

 15. Try others if you can. I've played a few others since getting mine and they're all a bit different.
 16. It looks even better than I remember it and the flat tone with both pickups on is dreamy. Such a nice bass.
 17.
I want a Jake/Jazz. Jake body but two J pickups spaced as in a Jazz and wired as in a Jazz. With a suitably wider/meatier neck. Purple (metallic?) body and maple fingerboard. I had this idea in mind for a while, but then I saw a picture of Prince playing a Jazz in that colour combination and it kind of said to me 'this is what you HAVE to do'. Then I can sell all my Jazzes. I love the sound but not the neck or the body. Hmmm.
All things are possible.
 18. I've been using Slinky Cobalts on my new fretless: good bottom; solid low mid; polite top end, but still quite roundwound sounding. Nice and clean out of the packet too, no nasty residue or stickiness. I like them.
 19. I see that the Frog with the Wal-like pickups and circuit is May's bass of the month. http://www.public-peace.de/index.php/bass-of-the-month/1939-public-peace-proudly-presents-the-bass-of-the-month-may-2016
 20.
Some absolutely stunning basses here. For those of you that have bought one, how much is customisable? There doesn't seem to be a list of options unless I'm being stupid. Can the nut width or fingerboard radius be changed? As an example.
I went for a 33" scale with a 41mm nut (similar to my Ricky) and I could've asked for more specific things if I'd've wanted, neck depth, etc. Adrian sends you a form where you add your requirements and then send it back to him.
 21.
Which EB are they mate?
Slinkys, 45-100.
