I'm using Sadowsky flatwounds at the moment (which are a LaBella variant), which are more old-school than the reviews I'd read had led me to believe. On my bass, they just instantly sound like it's 1968 or thereabouts. It's a cool sound which I do enjoy, but I'm currently trying to decide whether I need to go a step or two brighter and clearer sounding for one of the projects I have planned...
