1. I've still got my PH-1 and the box.
2. you really CAN'T carry a better DI on the tube with you?
3. that is great for you, but surely that is stupid business sense. Replacing a second hand unit with a brand new one? No wonder their stuff is so expensive lol. I have three Fenders and I'd rather they knock a few hundred off the price and stop doing these stupid deals.
4. Learn Herbie Flowers' bassline to Space Odditty to wow the punters, except nobody notices the bass player
5. 45-105 but I find it hard to play bends on these. Need to instal a set of 40-100 to see if they're easier to bend. Learnin Black Sabbaf's Bassically/N.I.B and can't do those bends.
6. SO true ! I learnt early on to treat a small crowd of 5 people like they were A&R guys..........coz one of them WAS an A&R guy. He left a note for our alcoholic guitarist singer songwriter to give up the booze then ring him. He never did, died of pancreatitis three years later
7. that is great shame we can't read your band's name on the shirt though, kinda defeats the purpose no? A more prominent and simpler font would advertise your band better just my 2 cents worth ymmv imho etc
8.
how so many musicians can scam their way through gigs. It is illegal, after all.
I didn't realise spending years learning my instrument, spending thousands on gear, rehearsing with my band, loading heavy black boxes into my car, driving to the gig, loading in, setting up, soundcheck, PLAYING for 3 hours, packing up, loading boxes back into my car, driving home and loading said boxes back into my house, for the pricely sum of $50 is SCAMMING ! wow what a scam we are onto, I bet thousands are lining up to join this money making scam ! But, you keep an accounting book, so you are above all this lol get off your high-horse, cowboy
9. 13 years is a long time, it's just getting old. Ditch the ME50b and buy individual pedals, COSM sounds aweful today. I have an ME50b. In my cupboard.
10. soldering cables is about the easiest thing to do solder-wise. Just sayin you need an iron to fix faulty guitar cables anyway. No need to spend big either. For less than the price of those kits you can grab an iron, 10 feet of Mogami cable and some plugs.
11. 70s music isn't Rock n Roll ? man have I been doin it all wrong all these years Are you a young fella or an old fogy like me? If you are young, join the band, you will learn a lot and have a blast. If you are over 45, life is too short to waste playing songs you don't like
12. it's definitely G# A G# my ears tell me it's off when I play G A G
13. take their sheets away from them, call out the chords, GO
14. My suggestion is to take 3 or 4 lessons to learn the basics like how to hold the bass, where your fretting and plucking hands should be to minimise risk of injury. Then just find tabs of your favourite songs and online free lessons. Rocksmith is a 'game' that quickly teaches you techniques and is a quick way to learn songs as it uses a rolling TAB along a note highway similar to GH etc.You use a real bass . It's a fun way to learn. It has dynamic difficulty in that it starts off giving you only a portion of the full notes and gradually adds more as you progress.
15. good to know as I have two of their tiny folding stands, rugged as heck I'll add them to Hipshot as givers of great customer service
16. 2013 Am Stnd P bass sunburst w tort.
17.
With Fender or D'Addario nickels i would put on few days before a gig to get the initial twang out of them and let them settle in a bit to save constant tuning issue. Dave
This is my experience too. I like to give them a stratch when I put them on, usually lift the string up perpendicular to the fretboard at three points along it's neck, retune, set witness points. They are usually pretty stable tuning wise at this point. I then play for 2 to 3 hours over a couple of days, really digging in, and by then it has lost it's zinginess and are perfect for the next 3 months
18.
I can record bass via Hartke di into interface but guitar plugged into interface sounds unbearable even when I tried it through Hartke.Hence I'm after a guitar di pedal.
yes it's an issue with gen I 2i2s. Upgrading this to a Gen II will fix it as they've reconfigured the gain structure on it. OR turn your guitar volume down if possible. Radial make great DIs, great for bass and guitar, I have the J48, essential for a gigging bassist. But you don't have to spend that much, any cheap DI will do (I hope), maybe Behringer?
19. the nano poly may not be as bright as the normal one, something has to make way for the smaller footprint. Let us know if it is better for you. PS there's gonna be a lot of Polytune 2s for sale used when the Poly 3 starts selling, grab a bargain
20. whatever Fender use for their High Mass Top Loading String Thru bridge on Am Stnds no sharp edges.
21.
Three way switch FTW
a switch won't give you 100% Neck and 80% bridge, if you don't understand how a Jazz bass works don't try and tell us how
22. I mainly pluck with fingers but any Duck Dunn bassline needs to be played with a pick. It just sounds right.
