  1. I popped a note in the wanted section before, but alas, no bites. Thought I’d ask here just in case, but anyone own a red Gretsch Junior Jet they are contemplating parting with? Can meet at the bash to avoid postage woes?
  2. Black anodized aluminium?
  3. A thought occurred to me - the aluminium plate has less screw holes as it’s stiffer/stronger, so doesn’t need as much support as the plastic. Maybe standard 10 hole scratchplate doesn’t exist for that reason?
  4. You’re not even on the list! 😂
  5. Not familiar with the bass, or what you want out of it, but I’ll share my thoughts anyway! A decent loom will open things right up, so see how that fares firstly. A set of P pickups will likely be a different size, and any attempts to disguise that will look shite. I’d suggest a nice set of flats (LaBella low tensions) and maybe try a block of foam under the strings by the bridge - thud it up a little. Play closer to the neck and that , I assume, would get you closer to where I assume you might want to be. Cheaper than a new set of pups, anyhoo.
  6. Might just wait til one of you lot gets bored of it and pick one up in the classifieds early 2024 😂
  7. I love a good bass renovation thread! Keep us updated!
  8. That’s exactly what I was thinking, just as you posted 😂
  9. I keep wanting to get one of these, but I have a 40yr old Squier already 😂 GAS - the silent killer…
  10. Better to have it and not need it though. Preparation is key and all that.
  11. In 10yrs time when they’re all £1k+ I’ll be kicking myself I didn’t buy one.
  12. I made a scratchplate from a blank once - it was surprisingly easy. Made a paper template first, when I was happy with the shape and pickup/neck cutouts, transferred it to the plastic sheet and went at it with a jigsaw. Then just scraped the edges to 45 degrees with a Stanley knife. Sanded the edges to finish, and hey presto.
  13. I’ll be there! And my lad!
  14. It’s like art. Love it.
  15. Lovely looking bass. Makes me want some Werthers Original, though.
  16. I don’t have anything constructive to add, but I’ll post anyway 🤡. I hate micing up a kit in a pub. Total overkill. Also @Stub Mandrel, made me chuckle thinking of you with your featherweight GR bass cab, flanked by two big heavy 2x15’s!
  17. For no other reason than being a speaker pervert, any pics of this mammoth haul?
  18. I actually can’t remember what I did with the preamp. I probably recycled it.
  19. I pulled the preamp out accidentally on mine. Got a Ki0gon loom and wired it passively. Sounded great!
  20. I’d whip the scratchplate off to see what lies beneath, then replace it. Maybe even add another pickup if the routing is already present.
  21. Corr, that’s lush! Familiar but different. Very well balanced visually. Damn fine.
  22. I put a mint guard on my old oly white mustang. It looked awesome.
  23. Love the cab riser! What is the Stingray? Headstock looks different.
  24. They did a 30” scale a few years ago - could probably pick one up on fleabay. Then a couple of Artec pickups and a chisel…
  25. Just get a normal Squier Jag and get to it with a router! That’s probably what I’ll end up doing 😂
