  1. Watching Glasto on the tele with my family, I like to ID the basses for them (I know they really appreciate and the tutting is just for show). This one had me stumped though. What is this bass?
  2. Anybody catch Wet Leg at Glastonbury? What was the bassist playing? Thought it was a JMJ but the scratchplate is all wrong and the cameras never linger on the bassist.
  3. I think I just had way too many pictures - just deleted 10 pages of pics 😂
  4. Olive oil. Never tried it, probably ruin everything you touch, but will make slippy slippy.
  5. Hey @Reggaebassthis was an awesome tip - I’ve found some pics I’d forgotten about! Cheers!!
  6. My son got in to playing a couple of months ago, loves Royal Blood. Just picked up a guitar amp this morning, coupled together with my micro cab, looks quite cool! Need some more pedals for switching etc, but going quite well so far!
  7. It’s my super power. I’ve got it in my head to block up both slots and fit a new full-width grille for aesthetic reasons. Popping a round port in the front seems an easier way of getting the tuning right, too.
  8. What is the personal image size limit? I’m having to delete old pics to upload these days, but running out of pics I want to delete! Can’t access old ads to remove those either.
  9. I’m abandoning the slot port idea. They seem problematic! I did think about removing the internal ‘box’ bit and putting a fresh new full width baffle on the front, but it’ll be quite destructive, and I ‘m not kitted out for the job (probably need one of those oscillating cutters). Blocking the front slots and cutting a circle I can manage!
  10. Right, I have some 68mm drainpipe as per the Basschat micro cab & easy build 12” cab, so I’m going to pop a round port in the front, and block up both slots at the front, flush with the baffle. But, I will leave the internal walls in place. By these calculations, I have just over 43 litres (not taking in to account the derrière end of the driver). What length port (64mm internal diameter) would tune this bad boy to a usable frequency for the Beyma 12CMV2? Highly technical drawing:
  11. Now that I’ve completed my micro cab, I’m feeling confident about my chances of not screwing this up either. Been out to the shed to cut some wood for the new full-width grille. Expect an update soon. Maybe even before 2023.
  12. Yep - Fane Sovereign 6-100. Sounds great!
  13. Finally fitted the port. The cab has been in daily use with my son since I posted the last pics, so I don’t know whether it’s just because I forgot how it sounds, the speaker is “burned in”, or confirmation bias, but this tiny thing sounds absolutely ridiculous! I’ll get the lad to give it a hiding when he gets in to see if he notices such a vast improvement. Thanks again @Phil Starrfor the plans and encouragement 👍 Will be back on to the Peterson mods next!!!
  14. If that had a roasted neck, it would look awesome.
  15. Hows this going, @tauzero?
  16. If you make the mods reversible (keep all the original bits, stick to the same port widths, etc), you can always return it to standard spec to sell on if you don’t get on with it. I did this with a small combo just because I had it and fancied a change. Ended up selling the combo on and building a cab to put the new driver in (with lots of help from @Phil Starr). As Phil says, it can be addictive!
  17. Take them out on the next gig then! 2x 8ohm cabs will present a 4ohm load to the amp, no?
  18. I have a Basschat DIY micro cab I can bring along!
  19. I’m definitely up for it! Usually drive down to the SW bash in Taunton, but we’ll up for a closer one, too. I’m in Swansea, but Cardiff makes most sense for a Southern meet.
  20. Look at me trying to look like I know what I’m talking about…. Ampeg cab sensitivity 99dB / max output 127dB BF twin sensitivity 100dB / max output 133dB Might be talking through my derrière then 😂
  21. Am I barking up the wrong tree or would a really sensitive cab (like one of the bigger Barefaced jobbies) get the most out of the valve beastie for bigger gigs? Think my tech uses a Selmer head with a big twin or similar.
  22. Search earlpilanz on eBay. The issue might be supply of the correct colour tort though, probably all comes from the same place!
