1. ok then, no takers. I've ordered some (from Japan) and I'll give it a go myself. I might even take a couple of pictures as I'm doing it if anyone is interested.
2. Hmm... interesting use of microtones on the bass line.
3.
I know it's not a fender, but I'm gonna suggest you have a look at a Peavey T-40
not exactly light in weight though?
4. can't think of a compelling reason not to use regular roundwound strings really.
5. placing a speaker in a corner is generally reckoned to boost the bass....
6.
This is my Shergold fretless 6 String Marathon one of only four ever made two of which are now fretted!
I can't believe there were only 4 made. I had one and Andy Pask from Landscape reviewed one in Musicians Only Mag (I think..) back in the day. I converted mine to long scale and added a Gotoh soapbar humbucker at the bridge. Sold it to guy who came up from Bristol. Quite a sweet sounding bass.
7. Hi all I've copied this over from repairs and technical as ther is prob more traffic on this forum... I'm looking to get side markers fitted in a spare fretless neck, and also the original dots between the frets removed/covered. The neck was spare as it was a custom order and the markers were in the wrong place (between "frets") Can anyone recommend a luthier who will do the job for me? any help much appreciated. A decent and timely job more important than cost... Cheers Jules
8. That sounds like the signal processing of a modeling amp. I think they all do it to some extent. The signal processing probably "gates" itself once it decides there is not enough signal to process anymore. I've certainly noticed similar on a Line6 Studio 110, can't remember about the cube, that was too long ago!
9. 1.4K seems very low for any pickup resistance. Sure it isn't 14K?

11. Allan Holdsworth uses one in this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7XGCC4FEAA Check out the nice Fender V1 too!
12. one thing to look out for with s/h speakers is "foam rot " on the speaker cone surrounds. It is repairable normally but mitigates the bargain price. A lot of 80's and 90's speakers are subject to this, and JBL Control1's as I found out a couple of years ago.
13. as long as the 2 parts aren't the cabinet and the speaker...
14. tick tick. Wonder how long this will last!
15. The humidity was probably higher this weekend than the last few weeks.
16.
Just be careful not to poke too hard and damage any delicate parts.
Yeah, A & E is full of folks who have done that...
17.
The neck/body/hardware are all fine. It's just the phenolic fretboard that's rotting. It's fretted, and I'd attribute the pitting to delamination of the fretboard due to wear from the strings.
do the strings actually touch the fretboard? I don't think they do on my basses, even the SEI, which has small frets.... Do you have long fingernails on your left hand? My guitarist does and it really eats up his boards, rose and maple. I don't like him borrowing my guitars!
18. C'mon, it's the hand of the MAN!
19. Phase? Is one of you leads wired reverse?
20.

legend!
21. oh, have we had the Dead Grateful yet?
22. My mate Dave occasionally deps on drums for Scam69
23. The musicianship is never really the issue with this kind of music, but the attitude, energy and shouty singing is there, but having heard 3 different performances, I don't think the material is that strong... All this was covered in the Jools Holland thread when they were on it anyhow, though I think the Black Keys got a mention a bit earlier....
24. Looks in "mint" condition!!
