  1. I’ll give you £105 for it! I think it was undersold by quite a margin. Enjoy! It’s worth it for the pickups alone.
  2. I nearly went for that on fb marketplace. Wish I’d jumped on it now.
  3. New sleep token album “take me back to Eden”. It’s going to divide opinion for sure. For anyone not aware they’re an intriguing anonymous bunch who dress up on stage that are on their third album. Previous material is strong, particularly 1st album. Becoming quite the crossover act blending detuned metal with pop sensibilities. I know this sounds hideous but hear me out. Not much in the way of prominent bass parts but really enjoying the album as a whole. The production is absolutely massive sounding, very polished. Highlights are the snare drum sound, all singles released so far, the riff on ascensionism around 4mins in. Lots of colour in this and it improves on repeat.
  4. I had a similar era black p with maple neck that I regret getting rid of. I really customised it with a MM pickup, badass bridge and jazz knobs. I’d love to buy it back if it ever emerges. Why did I ever sell something that sounded so good!
  5. There is a fine line between adding some colour, personality and a bit of individuality and it becoming a muso w@nkfest. As others have said, you’ve got to serve your audience and the song. I’d be peed off as a punter if you played a tune with a proper classic bass line and the bassist changed it too much.
  6. Every time I’ve tried these strings I couldn’t help but think the brand name was missing an h after the s. Opinions are like certain body parts etc….
  7. Thanks for the info. I’ll consider a pair of these for next bonus! I love the versatility and endless options. Might go passive only and see how I get on.
  8. Love the jazz with the two sims pickups in it. How do they sound? I’ve been tempted by these before as the concept is brilliant but I’ve never heard a demo that I was really impressed with.
  9. Hell of an archive! Thanks for contributing to the community and for helping us to make better gear choices!
  10. That looks great, if the electronics are quiet you’re onto a winner. Grain on the neck looks wonderful. Andy Irvine has bought a load of these and installed some similar mods. He raves about them for value for money, even after spending a load on upgrades. Passive tone does add a lot of options and is worth considering. I had the vtc installed on a metro I had years ago and used it all the time.
  11. Might be worth trying another set of strings? I wouldn’t discount it. I’ve had intonation probs that went away with a new set. Otherwise you’ve described all the options. Sounds like the bridge isn’t correctly placed to allow enough adjustment given the design of the bridge.
  12. Hope you get it sorted. Something to consider is trying to bargain for a gift voucher and not a straight refund. £40 gift voucher will cost Thomann less than a £30 refund. I’ve done this before and spent it on accessories which I was happy about and the shop was happy about.
  13. I like this. That metal control plate/ scratch plate combo is very Yamaha bb. Did he used to play one?
  14. Great result! Julian is one of the most trustworthy gents in the biz. This looks amazing.
  15. Ok that made sense in my head. 🤪
  16. This is a brilliant review! I’m glad it worked out for you. It sounds like they’ve made a creative tool that means you can forget about what you’re physically playing and concentrate on what you’re playing.
  17. Killer looking rig. Take 1 or 2 cabs depending on the gig. Awesome stuff.
  18. This is really cool. Glad you all got the bass you wanted and the quality looks great.
  19. Reading between the lines, I think you’re spot on!
  20. How do they compare?
  21. Thanks. Ah that explains the lower price. Still lots of high end hardware here. I had a streamer jazzman many moons ago with this pup combination and it was decent. I wonder how much one of those would cost these days. £3k+ I’d imagine.
  22. I thought the pnut was neck through? Maybe memory failed me. Interesting to scroll through and see the price of a thumb nt4 these days. £6k!!!!
  23. This is such a great pup combination. With a pick it’s immense.
  24. A very worn, annotated and well thumbed book about bass improvisation that I picked up from Reading’s oxfam music store. Every-time I leaf through the shelves I find a load of bass titles.
