  1. I’ve just tried to sign up and after entering bank details I get this message and it takes me back to the previous page. Details are correct? I’ll try from laptop in a bit.
  2. £6.95 delivered? Seems very reasonable! Loads of the specialist magazines (not those sort) in Smith’s are £9.99. Good for you for filling a gap and taking a risk. I’ll sign up!
  3. Nicky wire - archives of pain by the manic street preachers. I didn’t realise bass could be that distorted and aggressive, very influential as a teenager. same with Breed by nirvana. Honourable mention: Timmy C for all three rage against the machine albums. Super solid, chunky and groovy basslines and great unique tone.
  4. I’ve seen these pop up secondhand occasionally and always seem to miss out. They look pretty and a lot of fun.
  5. Amps have got smaller, cabs got lighter, p basses still sound great, gigs pay the same!
  6. That the one with the “insane” channel aka wasp in a jamjar? Still a lot of fun!
  7. Glad it’s not total firewood! I hope the G stays in tune, that angle is crazy!
  8. Thanks for uploading this and all the post production. He was really entertaining on the day, I’ll listen in full when I’ve got an hour free.
  9. I think you’ve covered the factors off really well. String choice, action and pickup height, there isn’t that much else you can do really.
  10. Stonking! I really like these, including the headstock! Nate makes anything sound brilliant though. I’m suprised these don’t have nordstrands given the previous relationship with Ibanez.
  11. Without sounding like a twit, I’d find it really hard to dress with a bass of that colour. Not a fan. Stack knobs are cool though.
  12. Affordable new Wal bass. I can dream can’t I? I don’t care where it’s made, as long as it’s less than £2k, has two Wal pickups and the Wal pre and electronics. It doesn’t need a fancy top, can come with a gigbag. Please!
  13. When this was suggested I thought they meant Bon Jovi! This is a most pleasant surprise.
  14. i listened to the original and superb recording today and also thought it sounded like a non clanky, deep sounding stingray. Fantastic playing by the band all round.
  15. BB34? Looks killer.
  16. I’ll admit it’s hard to tell sometimes. I’m not an expert on the genre….. Dimmu Borgir are a big band in the scene (I bought their opus “Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia”!!), Dimmu Bongir are yet to reach their dizzy heights of success. I bet they don’t even sacrifice goats on stage or anything.
  17. Aaah ok thanks. I’ll consider this my entry into the work of Paul Webb. I’ll explore some more talk talk tomorrow.
  18. Agreed with the above, Tony is a monster player. One of the rare breed that can find the space for supportive melodies in his playing. Busy but not overplaying.
  19. This was suggested for my covers band and it’s got a corker of a bassline. Original by talk talk. Lots going on in this one, especially in the pre-chorus.
  20. I played one of these at guitar guitar and it beat all their other basses hands down for playability and feel. It was way better setup than any of the US fenders they had.
  21. Gibson famously added an extra serial number to US production a few years back, implying they were making more than 999 guitars a day. Can you maintain quality control if you’re under pressure to make that many?? Also worth checking out the various YouTube factory tours of the cort and Yamaha factories for an idea of the scale of production. It’s nuts!
  22. Vol, Vol, Tone, with tone pot wired to pull up to switch between series/parallel. It’s monster!
  23. Back when I worked in a guitar shop we had a lady enter the shop in clutching a shopping list at Christmas. She confidently asked for a “Jim Davidson Wahwah pedal”. Chortle.
