  1. Jay found an old hard drive with our first Wilde theatre show and a west end centre gig on it. Some of it sounds good! Could’ve been your good self recording.
  2. Newly discovered old band live videos. Quite the nostalgia fest.
  3. The back of neck through sei basses look so good, maybe better than the front.
  4. I love my 414! That middle pickup position is superb. Nice upgrades!
  5. I think it would fit into a black metal band perfectly! It’s certainly unique and would support a drop stupid tuning really well.
  6. Wow. Built for low tuning? Or someone with absolute monstrous proportions? Hope you got a bargain!
  7. If I was him I’d approach bass direct or bass bros and negotiate a cheaper commission. Drop off 15-20 at a time and wait for the cheques to arrive. Given the quantity of listings I can only imagine the number of tyre kickers and scam emails he must be dealing with.
  8. I think I remember playing this at bass gear. They had two in at once! Both fantastic.
  9. Room acoustics and gear placement! I’ve played the same places before with back line in a slightly different spot. It can make such a huge difference to what you and the audience hear. One time everything was perfect instantly with no adjustments needed (dreamland!), another time I was in safe cracker territory with no end of knob twiddling getting me nowhere! I shifted the rig a few cms away from the wall and it all came together. If you don’t believe me, try it next time!
  10. That bridge looks like someone dropped some porridge on it when they bought the bass and never bothered to clean it! I’ve never seen chud built up like that before.
  11. Ozzy is a very old, very weathered individual. I’d be surprised if he plays more than 1 solo tune and 1 tune with black sabbath. Even that is impressive for a wobbly guy in his 70s with his health history.
  12. Why do I suddenly have the urge for mashed potato? 🤔
  13. My first guitar teacher had one of these. I loved the way it sounded. Ah memories!
  14. I’d get annoyed at my kids de-tuning the table.
  15. This ain’t bad. I’m not entirely comfortable with it but it’s waaaay better than I expected.
  16. Ahhh is it vol/tone and 4 push switches for the pickups? I thought it had a four way eq or something and the knobs looked close together. Looks terrific.
  17. https://www.instagram.com/p/DCt7Uj6PH53/?igsh=MWE0aTFjbXg4bW83bA== This is a post from Garth Richardson who recorded/engineered a lot of very influential albums over the years. Otherwise known as ggarrth. Lots to unpack here. Directional cables! Multi amp recording! Micing up strings! I found it interesting so thought I’d share. I’m not a huge fan of the band (vocals are awful) but Ryan is a monster and very unique.
  18. A new entry pop pickers! I like everything about this except the headstock. It has allll the pickups. Disher bass apparently, saw it on Facebook.
  19. Get yourself a new Mayones bass. Built in headphone preamp! What a great concept.
  20. That’s 1000 models, the actual number of physical basses will be much, much higher as they’ll keep multiples in stock. I’d guess they keep hundreds of best sellers like HB/sire basses in each colour in stock.
  21. It’s great and very enlightening. Enjoyed the episode where they talked about the actual cost of putting on the festival and booking the bands. Seems like it’s drastically changed lately. The Scottish fella swears a bit excessively but that’s just the way he is I suppose.
  22. Thank you. I’m much improved over recent weeks, although struggling with fatigue a lot. I’m not quite sure how I made it through this one without falling asleep (imagine that!), but just about managed it.
  23. Recently played as part of a scratch party band for the local cricket club end of season bash. It’s a bit of a collective of musicians and vocalists with some loose connection to the club (players, parents, wife’s etc). All very friendly and sociable. Two rehearsals only but came together nicely. The drummer was my neighbour who plays in loads of function bands. I had to play this one sitting down as I’m 4 weeks post pituitary surgery (don’t tell my doctor I played this!) and was feeling very fatigued by the end of it. It really made me concentrate on my playing rather than trying to “perform” if you know what I mean. Venue was Sandmartins, a local golf club function room, lovely acoustic, nicely dampened room, no shrill surfaces. Very welcoming and helpful staff, easy load in. Backline is owned/borrowed from club members and to my delight they have an Ashdown abm 4x10 and tc head to play through. Wonderful! Very fun hour set after the audience had got their awards (best bowler, batsman etc) and had been sufficiently lubricated at the bar. Mostly party stuff with a few band choices thrown in. I will survive, love shack, there is a light, summer of 69, easy, respect, lean on me etc. Singers great, audience appreciative, and a short trip home. Just what I needed actually! Music is a healer!
  24. Consider that everytime you hear one of these oft-repeated ear worms that someone out there is earning something from it! Maybe it’s a new genre, Tesco sh*te. Wish I’d written one of them!
