  1. Whilst he seems like like a genuine chap, a lot of his basses sound extremely similar to me, and the claw gimmick and bizarre nervous laughter is just, well, uncomfortable. I doubt Fender really give a s***. Probably just need to change the details online.
  2. Should have been 3 single coils!
  3. Whilst the demos sound great, I do think the low cost all-rounder (home and quick rehearsal) element has been lost a bit. I mean more so the low cost. I think my 100W guitar Katana cost about £220. That amp really can work in a lot of scenarios plus it's loud, cheap, light and small. The 2x10 would probably be needed for a bass rehearsal and the price is quite high.
  4. I have a Big Al 5 SSS and I would say it is the most interesting bass guitar I own. I am not so surprised they didn't take off massively as they are not a casual band member type of bass. The style is quirky and the pickups/pre amp are unusual. All that makes for a great bass to me and I'm hoping I never have to sell it. No doubt if they re-manufactured these in 2022 they'd want £3500! The Musicman factory seems to have backed off on production massively since covid.
  5. What a great story. Also great to see Bongo love as it is a completely unique and amazingly well engineered bass. Aren't the prices of these new absolutely insane now? Like £2.5k+
  6. I like the idea of these 40th Anniversary instruments, but the price instantly puts me off. I feel like since Covid we have seen the biggest price increases since I first got into playing about 28 years ago! I'm kinda glad I don't need a new instrument now. I can look but I've not been tempted for a long time.
  7. I still think the closest I've got to my old Trace amp is my Shuttlemax 9.2. I absolutely love that amp.
  8. These will no doubt be well thought out, but still, at £400 I'm happy with my Tech 21 pedals or the Helix Stomp.
  9. If it has the feel of the Elf in terms of quality, I'd be quite happy. I tried my friend's Elf and I was impressed with it!
  10. I am not a Darkglass user, but I do feel their market is saturated with a very similar high gain tone. Dingwalls and this high gain. I love high gain, but personally I prefer the grind from an Orange or Ampeg (the Tech 21 pedals nail this). I am not really sure who this is aimed at. It's very expensive; it's like an expensive take on the TC toneprints. I'd rather use a HX Stomp into the power section of a something like a Genzler or Mesa Boogie.
  11. I bought the exact same model of bass in that finish when they were still manufacturing them, and to this day it is STILL the best bass guitar I have ever played. Sound, feel, quality - it is perfection. I hope I never have to part with it. It also looks absolutely stunning. Great bass!
  12. I had a dream the other day that I was using my Trace AH400 GP12 SMX (correct order of name? - one of these https://reverb.com/item/28042456-trace-elliot-ah400-gp12-smx ) with my old MIJ Fender 62 Reissue P bass into a Peavey 4x10 I used to have . The sound was exactly what I remember, Tight, punchy and bright. I miss all of those parts of my sound which I eventually sold on. I would definitely be interested in a modern Trace Amp with a good amount of power.
  13. Just be careful, which you no doubt will be! Low volume will be no issue.
  14. I'm glad that Ibanez are balancing the ludicrous Dingwall MIC prices.
  15. If I wanted a relic style Fender I'd be after one of these. That hardcase is the icing on the cake!
  16. It's a shame EBMM have had to slow down production so much and it is STILL causing delays. Fender seem to be making a fair few Corona CA instruments. The post covid shortages cannot be helping.
  17. I had a GP12400SMX (think that's the model name!)...huge heavy carpeted box. You know what, that carpet was VERY tough and stopped cosmetic damage. It sounded very clear and had a hell of a lot of treble on tap for that ultra sheen on your high end. I used to play a MIJ Fender P through it with rounds and that amp provided so much clank. I liked it. I've never played a decent Trace cab, I don't think. I used a much cheaper Peavey 4x10 and 1x15. I kinda wish they would make medium sized lighter amps like Ashdown and bring the brand back properly. I should have kept mine but I had a hand injury carrying it once after a long day at work then gigging, so I sold it. Closest I've got is the Genz Shuttlemax series.
  18. This is great. I wonder if at some point you could speak to those who make their own hardware in the UK and not only promote their brand, e.g. 'featuring a high end Overwater Bridge' but also add that UK flavour to the hardware. Obviously it is all down to price and hitting a build cost you are happy with! But I personally think the price rise is very reasonable and also means you can control your QC in-house.
  19. That is a great move. If they can make that gear with only a relatively small price increase then it makes me wonder why other brands aren't doing so....
  20. Anything Genzler. To be honest I use my Stomp with a Headrush FRFR 1x12 for both bass and guitar. But that is only a 1x12.
  21. I managed to get some amazing prices on brand new ordered in Musicman basses (and guitars)....for about 5-6 years. My SR5 Classic Natural was around £1650 ordered in new. A SR5 HH was £1400. These were brand new orders I had to wait for. Roughly 2014. Then my priorities changed and I realised I had more than enough. I love what they are coming out with but I can't personally see myself outlaying £2500+ on a Musicman for a while now, unfortunately. Covid/shortages/supply/demand have all added to the issues we see now. Still a great brand. No idea if we will ever see the pre-Covid stock levels again.
  22. Off topic, but crazy to think you could get a USA Stingray SR4 for around £1000-£1300 about 4-5 years ago.
  23. Still responding to support help on an older product - got to give you a pat on the back for that agedhorse.
  24. These seem incredibly cheap?! £287 for a a RM-800 EVO II?! I assume that included delivery and any tax/import duty? A
