  1. That is might impressive, more so the pedal board! I hear JAM pedals make some damn fine gear.
  2. If I need a new bass amp i'll be getting a Genzler.
  3. I have one and I'd never sell it. Unique and incredibly well made.
  4. I actually think that sounds fantastic. Full, gritty and aggressive. Way better than some of that Lobster guys really high end Jazz-like basses that sound a bit....too polite. If there is one thing about Musicman I always rely on, its that they REALLY know how to make a pickup.
  5. That's lovely! As mentioned in the other thread it's more like two P bass pickups!? Edit - this was in response to the other thread! DOH
  6. Oh I didn't realise! I think it looks great. I am a fan of natural Musicman basses. You can't use any old tat for a natural bass as it needs to have some pleasant grain! He's a great player but I don't really listen to him. But I must say his single H tone is more my thing; sounds fantastic! Re: Price - have you seen the c**p Gibson are churning out for £2.5k now?
  7. I honestly think the whole thing has been completely overblown. Now those youtubers are making money from long streams talking about it!
  8. Awful. I don't have anything against Kiss or Gene, but this seems to be a daft decision. Poor QC again as noticed above. Both of my Gibson guitars cost under £1k and for that price they are worth it. The current insane pricing is just bizarre.
  9. They may as well have just replaced it and took the old one back to review/part out. The time wasted by them has probably cost way more. I think the dealer model is almost dead now. Most of them don't really do anything or even properly sort repairs.
  10. I've never heard a bass tone excite me as much as a Ray. I love a P bass but the first time I heard a Ray and realised what it was (I was about 13) that was it, sold. They both sound great if i'm honest.
  11. That's very similar to mine, and around the same age. I absolutely love it and stopped looking at other P basses.
  12. Whilst he seems like like a genuine chap, a lot of his basses sound extremely similar to me, and the claw gimmick and bizarre nervous laughter is just, well, uncomfortable. I doubt Fender really give a s***. Probably just need to change the details online.
  13. Should have been 3 single coils!
  14. Whilst the demos sound great, I do think the low cost all-rounder (home and quick rehearsal) element has been lost a bit. I mean more so the low cost. I think my 100W guitar Katana cost about £220. That amp really can work in a lot of scenarios plus it's loud, cheap, light and small. The 2x10 would probably be needed for a bass rehearsal and the price is quite high.
  15. I have a Big Al 5 SSS and I would say it is the most interesting bass guitar I own. I am not so surprised they didn't take off massively as they are not a casual band member type of bass. The style is quirky and the pickups/pre amp are unusual. All that makes for a great bass to me and I'm hoping I never have to sell it. No doubt if they re-manufactured these in 2022 they'd want £3500! The Musicman factory seems to have backed off on production massively since covid.
  16. What a great story. Also great to see Bongo love as it is a completely unique and amazingly well engineered bass. Aren't the prices of these new absolutely insane now? Like £2.5k+
  17. I like the idea of these 40th Anniversary instruments, but the price instantly puts me off. I feel like since Covid we have seen the biggest price increases since I first got into playing about 28 years ago! I'm kinda glad I don't need a new instrument now. I can look but I've not been tempted for a long time.
  18. I still think the closest I've got to my old Trace amp is my Shuttlemax 9.2. I absolutely love that amp.
  19. These will no doubt be well thought out, but still, at £400 I'm happy with my Tech 21 pedals or the Helix Stomp.
  20. If it has the feel of the Elf in terms of quality, I'd be quite happy. I tried my friend's Elf and I was impressed with it!
  21. I am not a Darkglass user, but I do feel their market is saturated with a very similar high gain tone. Dingwalls and this high gain. I love high gain, but personally I prefer the grind from an Orange or Ampeg (the Tech 21 pedals nail this). I am not really sure who this is aimed at. It's very expensive; it's like an expensive take on the TC toneprints. I'd rather use a HX Stomp into the power section of a something like a Genzler or Mesa Boogie.
  22. I bought the exact same model of bass in that finish when they were still manufacturing them, and to this day it is STILL the best bass guitar I have ever played. Sound, feel, quality - it is perfection. I hope I never have to part with it. It also looks absolutely stunning. Great bass!
  23. I had a dream the other day that I was using my Trace AH400 GP12 SMX (correct order of name? - one of these https://reverb.com/item/28042456-trace-elliot-ah400-gp12-smx ) with my old MIJ Fender 62 Reissue P bass into a Peavey 4x10 I used to have . The sound was exactly what I remember, Tight, punchy and bright. I miss all of those parts of my sound which I eventually sold on. I would definitely be interested in a modern Trace Amp with a good amount of power.
