1. The BDDI is perfect for playing that modern dirty scooped bass tone thats on a lot of metal/punk/hardcore albums. Everyone I have toured with had one as a backup or effects or both. I once toured for 7 days just with the BDDI, no amp/cab. I DI'd every gig and it was fine. I recorded 3 tracks straight into the BDDI at one point. It works that well for that modern aggressive tone. The Aguilar Tone Hammer is also worth looking at...different grit tones....and a great pre amp/DI all in one. Perfect if you don't want to fiddle with insides of your bass (like me) and is like a pre amp for all of them...whichever I want to use! Very nice bits of kit.
2.
They look much nicer than any Rays I've seen of late Where are they built?
Same place as the normal Rays etc.... USA
3. Apparently the NAMM release for TC is the Combo 450 with either the Classic or Staccato amp head as well as the RH450. Im hoping they dont make a new RH450 for a while! New finish on the cabinets as well with diff placement of the badge, (as per the ones I ordered).
4.
for that price you could get someone to custom build you one that'll do the 300watts cleanly and not ring like fook!
+1 It is FAR too expensive, and the argument on TBass is that they are designed and 'assembled' in the USA with a few expensive tubes....therefore basically the same except they are put together in an american building. The Heritage logo is cool, but I think they really need to to try hard to pull them out of the deep pit they made themselves.
5. I just looked over on the forums at www.music-man.com Seems they have the Classic Ray 4 and 5 as discussed, the Classic Sterling 4 as discussed, and a new Big Al 5 with a single fat humbucker. I know EB MM have become a little unpopular recently, but im VERY impressed with whats going on. Vintage style instruments are massively in fashion with modern bands and those new classic line are very very nice. Perfect colours. I know for a fact the Classic Ray 4 or 5 are definitely for me...love the necks and the colours. Once we have proper pricing in the UK and im sorted in Newcastle im going to HAVE to deposit one hahaha.
6. Ok....that means this year I have to save for either a 4 or 5 string Classic Ray....those colours are fabulous. Any idea on the prices?!
7. They have announced a US built Ltd run SVT setup. Its weird they charge so much for something that was built there before a few years back. Clever marketing ploy?! Perhaps this has been on the cards all the time?! (Eg if you want USA, youll have to pay the price). I just realised the amp alone is 85lbs....no thanks....with a flight case thats got to be over 100lbs. I think i'll stick to Orange (and Matamp possibly) for tube amps. Heritage line: http://www.ampeg.com/products/heritage/splash.html Neo cabinets (USA built) - http://www.ampeg.com/products/proneo/index.html Class D Amp - http://www.ampeg.com/products/pro/svt7pro/index.html Prices are astronomical on the Heritage line.
8. Pretty thing indeed. Shame its not original. That bridge stands out a mile.
9. Man you have some awesome gear for sale....you had those 2 amazing 62' Precisions a few weeks back. I bet this rig is amazing. Unfortunately I love my Orange rig too much....good luck
10. If I didnt have major GAS for a Lakland DJ5 I would come and check this out Rich! Good luck. You don't need it though...good price and nice colour.
11. Update: I have two of the RS210s on order now. I have ordered the new black shiny finish so it might be a few months yet. I was going to get the RS212 + RS210, but I wanted to stick to tens with this rig for now...and have the 'small slim 4x10' thing going on
12. Hey Can anyone recommend a nice trolley that can be folded up? It is to transport cabs around...only really my Orange gear. Max load would be 100lbs approx. Thanks
13. I have just ordered the new smooth shiny black finish RS210s, (x2). I was going to get an RS212+210, but the 210 seems to get the most praise, and I wanted a small setup. Going to be a bit of a wait as TC havent got the 210s in that finish in the UK yet....but I dont mind
14. I really like the NY121 and the small MB cabs...I tried a normal size 1x15 and wasnt that keen. But, please bear in mind that I STILL prefer ceramic no matter what at the moment. Ive tested about 5-6 different manufacturers of neo cabs, and it just wasnt 100% for me. VERY close with Berg and Tecamp, but not QUITE the ceramic thump. I love the MB amps, and I do like their combos/small cabs. The NY121 is fantastic for its size.
15. I would be wary of prices in some normal stores. I got quoted more than £100 more for a new American Series Fender Jazz in a store in Yorkshire. They would match and then they lost the sale. Make sure they realise you know the normal prices. Do some google searches for best prices.
16. I havent taken any photos of my amp yet, and ill be waiting for the RS210s for a while in the new finish, but lets get this thread going
17. Oh, and the 78 P looks like its in great condition
18. The Jazzmaster is very pretty. That 75 Reissue looks stunning. Do the USA maple board versions have those lovely pearly white inlays or black? They look very nice like that.
19.
Where can said TC 2x10's be purchased?
Ive now seen them for £370! But id make sure you specify the new shiny black finish....might be a wait though. http://www.dv247.com/guitars/tc-electronic...et-rs210--61535 Two of them for £740 is, IMO, a bargain. Very punchy cabinets and has the ceramic thump, but still only around 46lbs. Plus, its like a mini light 8x10 if you have them vertical! The HF seemed very sweet when I had a fiddle, which is what Im looking for. Ive had some cabinets (none that I own at the moment) where the tweeter was way too harsh and hissy. The TC HF was more akin to the nice smooth Aguilar Tweet....
20.
TC Now make a 4 x 10 cab... http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~T...10~ID~11826.asp Maybe that would be to your liking.
If I was one of their artist, Id go for two RS410s and one RS212, just because you can power all three cabs with one amp. But...Im on a similar hunt, but for a portable version of a 4x10. I MUST NOT get another mid sized cab, ahahaha, so this time, im opting for two RS210s. I am putting them on order soon, but waiting for the new smooth black Bergantino-type finish....so might not be with me for a few months.
21. IMO, thats a fantastic budget. Nipping nearer to £1000 will definitely get you some of my personal favourite basses. The classic bodyshapes/sounds are Musicman Stingray, Fender Precision, Fender Jazz. The Stingray new might be more than £1K now, but you can pick up a P/J from the much improved Fender American Series for about £850...more if you go with sunburst. If you want something with a smaller bodyshape, a little more modern, check Warwick and Spector. Lakland make some very nice Fender/Stingray type basses, with brilliant build. They are not US made, but they are up there with the high end basses for finish, etc. Dont let it put you off that they are not US made. IMO, the Lakland 5 strings are the easiest/most comfortable 5 string basses to play out there.
22. Now...that is nice....very very nice. I dont know if Spectors suit what I play etc etc, but thats brilliant. I love the colour.

24.
will do. does the no di become a pain? im guessing not just get a good di box? andy
With amps like this....I would always get it mic'd anyway....sounds much better. Most sound guys probably dont have good quality mics, so you can use a Tech 21 Sansamp BDDI if you need a nice warm valvey tone to the PA. As yet....Ive not had any issues. But, if I had the choice I'd always get the speakers mic'd.
25.
Hi, I've been playing the bass for many many years (on a Fender fretless, a 70s black beauty), but have never really owned serious gear cos of many reasons (and generous friends). Recently I went looking for a decent amp for no more than £300 pounds and loved the tone of the ampeg hybrid combo. I guess the tone I'm looking for is a warm tube tone. There must be other amps (heads, or combos) on the market which have comparable tones? It's just that I don't want to buy the first thing I see, but don't know enough about what's on offer. Can someone here help? I'm also looking at second hard gear of higher wattage. Cheers mates
Amp head....I would check out Mark Bass Little Mark 2 second hand, or 3 if brand new. Nice and light, very warm, great low end.
