Thanks for all the advice. So far only found one useful YouTube video and I cannot find a shop in Newcastle to even just go and look at them in the flesh before buying. Streamer $$ 5 with natural/honey oil + chrome seems the way forward so far.
-
Sounds great! Sometimes we have to throw out the rulebooks and just try something out of the blue...ive heard good things about those amp heads!
-
Cheers guys, streamer seems to be the bodyshape for me, and apparently it's a maple neck which is more like what I'm used to. I've been given some great prices from the bass merchant and I must say for the price I'm impressed! Now it's whether I take the plunge...I wasn't impressed with the Lakkie 5s quality control...so maybe Warwick will give me a TOTALLY different bass with a good low b.
-
I have a little bit of a soft spot for trying some 5 string warwicks. I like the idea of the hard finish, the nasally tone, and something totally different. I'm not sure if I'll get one, but it might be the 5er for me. Ok.. I spot two that appeal shape wise. Corvette $$ OR Streamer $$. I would be going for a natural or light oil finish, nothing metal looking! Chrome hardware I think. Didn't the Streamer win an award for how good it is with a bass magazine? Requirements: Not too heavy No neck dive Plenty of eq options Tradional as possible What are the differences between the two above basses? I am a Warwick newb!

2009 = GAS hit me bad! I love playing, but it's took a backseat whilst I've been moving. Once I'm playing again the GAS will drop a little.

Series/Parallel swiching on a Jazz (S1)
Musicman20 replied to karlthebassist's topic in Bass Guitars
Pointless on a P bass and if I'm honest i would never use one on a Jazz anyway. -
What is the tone like from your new bass?! I'm intrigued how it compares to the Jazz.
-
My option for 'easy to carry' 4x10 is the two TC Elec RS210s. Roughly 46lbs each, small and slim. Together = huge sound! Price = roughly 740 and you have the option of modularity Great HF and that ceramic thump.

Flight case to suit orange OBC115 or similar

I think the best, and most expensive unfortunately, will be the Bergantino AE410.
Damn, Up to a bout 15mins ago my i never thought i would need to replace my MB heads, ever. Then i stupidly read this thread (i came via the MarloweDK website as he has one) and now im going to sell my SA450 and LMII. The LMII was going to go anyway as i dont really use it much but if this TC electronic RH450 is as good as you all say ill replace my SA450 with one.
I love mine, but have a test. They are very versatile, but what sold it for me was the more 'rock' tone this amp can do, (on addition to many others!)

So, has anyone actually *tried* the Orange isobaric cabs?
Musicman20 replied to Le Chat Noir's topic in Amps and Cabs
I tested all the range at Orange HQ, and found the 2x12 was the smallest and lightest '2x12' (if it is one) ive ever tried. Its is VERY small, and very lightweight. I will also add the volume was pretty damn massive....and that was only on low volume on the Bass Terror. A good idea for a small light cab....not sure if Ill get any, but I like what they have done. -
Really Cool Tuner for 4/5/6 stringers, Must say TC are just outstanding... http://www.andertons.co.uk/TCElectronics/p...110postnamm-gtr
Just got one of these on order, seem very useful

So Ive gone for the correct option with two RS210s instead of an RS210+RS212? (TC Electronic)
I had one of these from new & really wanted to like it, but I have to concede that the American basses are better. The shaved down neck has a lovely feel to it, but suffers from it's extreme thinness. Mine would change shape in almost every weather change. I had to reset the trussrod on an almost weekly basis. The American basses with the posiflex graphite rods are a better bet, I've found. The pickups are big on output, but they do tend to be noisy (shielding on the Japanese basses isn't quite up to the level of the current US ones) & I found the sound very "middly". Most Jazz basses give a very scooped sound, but my Geddy was definitely more mid-biased in nature. So all in all a great looking, great to play bass with a fair sound and good output, but the neck issues put me off completely.
I think the Jazz neck on the 08/09/10 American Series is thin enough! So im glad you mentioned that. Think the Geddy might be a little too thin for me.

Re: AE115 - I saw a few snippits of info on tbass saying this might be happening.
I know the sort of mark up many businesses put on their cost, but I am not going down that line! I had noticed Promenade Music in Morecambe,50 miles away, had a bass I wanted desperately. On their web site I saw the price as £988, so off I trundles with £900 of folding stuff in my pocket. That's what you are gonna get boys, I will be resolute. Get's there after 1.5 hours (God bless the M6), plays it, wants to marry it. Speaks to Garry (great bloke), wanting deal. £900 in foldy stuff in my pocket. Ticket price in store is £969. Unfortunatelysays Garry, that is discounted (already £266 off) so can't go any lower. Bugger. Wish I had put another £70 in my pocket, and had read the web site properly. Too embarrased to do another 100 mile round trip and certainly won't order over internet. Shame mind. Wonder how many businesses would say no to £900 on a Saturday afternoon, handed over, no other labour /admin costs. Karl.
Ive done this a few times, and usually it works. I had a chat with Gary as well and he seems like a decent bloke. Im shocked anyone would turn down £900 for a bass without any effort (eg sending etc etc). I always think its best to make an offer on this kind of equipment.

Great doing another sale with Chris again....smooth and easy transaction. Enjoy the bass

Good pic here of a side by side photo of the two finishes...the old grey rough finish, (RS210) and the new smooth shiny black finish, (RS112). http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showpost.php...p;postcount=479
Jesus! You've already got more gear than a reasonably-stocked music shop kidda!! You gotta stop doing this, or there'll be no gear left for the rest of us!! Oh, apart from Ampeg of course!!
HAhaha, Ive calmed down now....when I see new amps/cabs, I start thinking how to buy them. I dont need any of this, despite how cool the Club Cabinets look and the NY122.....I bet they are super high prices.
You can also specify fingerboard material (Maple, rosewood, ebony, pau ferro - only on fretless) Fretless can have lined or unlined, but on fretted you always have the markers. On StingRays you can choose either the typical Ray neck, or a Sterling neck. You also have the EQ choice (2 or 3 band, and 4 band on the Bongo/Big Al/25th/Reflex) On the 'Classic' series you can specify flamed or birdseye maple, glossed or unfinished neck. Piezo is only available on single pickup models, except the Bongo. Most models are offered in 4 or 5 (or even 6) string variants. There's obviously a pickguard choice as well. There are many models out there with fancy tops, just have look.
Good summary! Im gassing for a Classic Series.
correct! got so wrapped up in how good it sounded that i forgot to take photos! seriously this is with out a doubt the loudest thing i will every play! was so loud and the master was under a quarter! the eq is so simple and effective! was nervous how the 610 would handle it! but the rig sounds sweet! andy
From what I hear, these are cracking amps....a massive step up from Ampeg
£2,085.20 just for the head Might be better of finding a used US CL for about £800 and sticking the same valves as the heritage in?
Stupid prices.

Thank god, the Rocker doesnt have the VPF...which IMO is the best knob on the Little Mark amps. This means I wont have to get one! They keep the VLE on...maybe just because of space they didnt include both, or clever marketing? Eg....buy this in addition to what you have! I like the look of the NY212, id be interested to know the pricing.
