What about them? There are factors other than driver diameter at play. They don't sound good because there are 10s and 12s,, they sound good because they are designed taking all the factors into account (or at least getting them right inadvertently).
What about the 'dont ever mix drivers' debate that the cabinet designers always state?! Thats what I dont understand. If its done correctly, like TC, why not? Cheers
Cheers You might to check out the various 'acronym' bands of the time too: SNFU, RKL, early DRI (before they became a Crossover band). Another good band was Spermbirds. Also, you could go back a little earlier to when the US hardcore punk scene really kicked off - you can see the excellent 'American Hardcore' documentary here... - that also kicks off with the always excellent 'Pay To Cum' by Bad Brains
Man, SNFU, I remember those guys. Crazy but actually really good.
Weigh it and price it up on the Royal Mail website - you'd be surprised at the cost. Not as much as you think (unless you want to send it RMSD, then that's a different story).
Cheers Last time I sent a pedal....the Line DL4 (bigger by a fair bit) it was almost £10!
-
What about the TC Electronic RS210/212? I heard it and it sure sounded good! TC even have a video on how to set it up so the 10s are further back so more of a balanced mix. Any ideas? Or is it just science? As in, my Orange rig sounds good, so who cares?!
-
Am I right in guessing in chromatic mode it will work just like a TU2? As in, you want one string, say the E, in D, you just tune to D?
-
Its just as good as normal tuners in chromatic mode as well. The vids explain it quite well. So the Poly thing is an addition.
It might also be worthwhile familiarising yourself with older (mid to late '80s) US hardcore punk bands, such a Dag Nasty, Rites of Spring, and a fair few others from the Dischord label. And perhaps bands from the same era such as Attitude, The Stupids, and Final Conflict. NoFX and others seem to be descended from that sort of stuff, albeit with a slightly more poppy tempo.
Exceptional taste sir!

SOLD PENDING Hey Selling my Boss TU2 Tuner Pedal. Immaculate condition, with box and instructions. Not one mark on this pedal.... Because of condition, I would like £42.50 plus P&P which I think will be roughly £4.50 £47 all in ONO. Payment via bank transfer please. Pics: (Note the pedal is still in the bag....not one scratch on it). Cheers Gareth

Gotta be a Classic Stingray 4/5 for me, in the light blue. The white pickups looks awesome! Maple board is also a must. Think this might be my 2010 bass!
Ok so I'm jealous that you saw them play the decline. I saw them in about 99/2000ish play at Manchest Apollo with a load of other bands off Fat Wreck (guttermouth, bosstones etc). They were amazing. I'm not doing so great with the decline, got up to about 2mins into the song, but my memory is crap. I have to play along to the tab. Also trying to learn a few rancid songs. I'm loving the bass to 'fall back down', but most of my efforts are on the solo part of 'maxwell murder', I've learned the first half of the solo, but I cant quite get the speed right - I play it at about 1/2 speed
I was there! I found with fast fast picking, get a really comfy pick, and find a technique that feels easy. I learnt early about 14 years ago off an older friend how to play at that speed and it just keeps getting easier
-
I've nailed a lot of Nofx's basslines, and braved a few Rancid ones, but I haven't tried The Decline. Mike is very very underrated, probably because no one thinks punk = talent. Not only that, he's the frontman/main vocals.

Thanks! I went to B&Q, noticed all the folding ones had small wheels! The standard old school trolley is £13 ish, but I'm still looking. I've seen the ones with 4 wheels on amazon. They might work as long as my 4X10 won't destroy it!

I have 5 4 string basses and I have my first proper 5 string in mind. IMO, you cannot go wrong with the Lakland 5 string neck. I have smallish hands but I picked up a DJ5 and I could play really quick! Nice n comfy. MM SR5s are nice, i'd like a new Classic series 5! I found the various Warwick necks I tested too fat for me, and I like Precision necks!

Not a comment just for this bass, but the entire new Warwick range is .... not to my tastes at all. Ive just seen some pics on their new 2010 basses. The Bootsy/Clayton ones are the worst by far hahaha.

There is a large thread on tbass about this....seen some comments from some basschat guys Looks impressive....BUT....it also looks a little 'overboard' for me. I wouldnt use all those options on it. Id prefer a normal VT Bass with a proper DI built in, same size as the BDDI. Any idea on price?! If its REALLY good, I might consider one mid 2010.
-
The BDDI is perfect for playing that modern dirty scooped bass tone thats on a lot of metal/punk/hardcore albums. Everyone I have toured with had one as a backup or effects or both. I once toured for 7 days just with the BDDI, no amp/cab. I DI'd every gig and it was fine. I recorded 3 tracks straight into the BDDI at one point. It works that well for that modern aggressive tone. The Aguilar Tone Hammer is also worth looking at...different grit tones....and a great pre amp/DI all in one. Perfect if you don't want to fiddle with insides of your bass (like me) and is like a pre amp for all of them...whichever I want to use! Very nice bits of kit.
They look much nicer than any Rays I've seen of late Where are they built?
Same place as the normal Rays etc.... USA
-
Apparently the NAMM release for TC is the Combo 450 with either the Classic or Staccato amp head as well as the RH450. Im hoping they dont make a new RH450 for a while! New finish on the cabinets as well with diff placement of the badge, (as per the ones I ordered).
-
for that price you could get someone to custom build you one that'll do the 300watts cleanly and not ring like fook!
+1 It is FAR too expensive, and the argument on TBass is that they are designed and 'assembled' in the USA with a few expensive tubes....therefore basically the same except they are put together in an american building. The Heritage logo is cool, but I think they really need to to try hard to pull them out of the deep pit they made themselves.
-
I just looked over on the forums at www.music-man.com Seems they have the Classic Ray 4 and 5 as discussed, the Classic Sterling 4 as discussed, and a new Big Al 5 with a single fat humbucker. I know EB MM have become a little unpopular recently, but im VERY impressed with whats going on. Vintage style instruments are massively in fashion with modern bands and those new classic line are very very nice. Perfect colours. I know for a fact the Classic Ray 4 or 5 are definitely for me...love the necks and the colours. Once we have proper pricing in the UK and im sorted in Newcastle im going to HAVE to deposit one hahaha.
-
Ok....that means this year I have to save for either a 4 or 5 string Classic Ray....those colours are fabulous. Any idea on the prices?!
-
They have announced a US built Ltd run SVT setup. Its weird they charge so much for something that was built there before a few years back. Clever marketing ploy?! Perhaps this has been on the cards all the time?! (Eg if you want USA, youll have to pay the price). I just realised the amp alone is 85lbs....no thanks....with a flight case thats got to be over 100lbs. I think i'll stick to Orange (and Matamp possibly) for tube amps. Heritage line: http://www.ampeg.com/products/heritage/splash.html Neo cabinets (USA built) - http://www.ampeg.com/products/proneo/index.html Class D Amp - http://www.ampeg.com/products/pro/svt7pro/index.html Prices are astronomical on the Heritage line.
