Yeah, the combo is a good idea for those who want small or just the vertical stack, but I like the idea of all separate. Obviously a Mesa Walkabout would change my mind, but the RH is a damn good amp. I cant wait to get my cabs now.

My problem is, I cant find anything I like as much as the new Fenders, or Ernie Ball. Vintage ones would be the next step I guess, but I love new gear. God knows I tried to try new manufacturers, all this year in fact. Lakland, Sadowsky, Warwick, Spector, tried them all out, and a few different models. Still come back to the old fashioned Stingray/P/J. I intend to get a Stingray 5 at some point....so still not going for anything different.

One day when I have more space, a Matamp 2x12 and GT200 will be put on order. I tend to find the bands that use them are usually on the dirty blues/metal/hardcore type of thing. But, thats just as those scenes dig Matamp....im sure like most amps/cabs they can be used for whatever you like.

Hmm...there will be options, but I always choose Orange for dirt dirt dirt Im sure there is a way around it...passive bass?

That's a really good video, best demo I've seen of an amp for a long time. I'll be picking one up no doubt mid 2010. I've heard that Orange want the 1000 watt version out for April. The gain on that little amp is fantastic!

Combo cabs! http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~T...0C~ID~13116.asp TBH, im not bothered about the space for the amp. Good idea, but its surely just easier to have them all separate?!
Again, not the best photos - just my rubbish phone still
That is a stunning colour. I HIGHLY recommend a flight case for it. Probably be £150 but money well spent. Is it built to have a really dirty tone?!

The pre 2008/09 (2000 onwards) USA Fender's were overpriced and I had the misfortune to have a dog of a Jazz about 6 years ago that went STRAIGHT BACK. There are of course some excellent S1 switching models around though. Im bowled over by the new Fenders...they are fantastic.
I had to wait months between my current band and my last band. It was disheartening replying to loads of bassist wanted ads and getting knock-backs (all on account of my very advanced age, 44 at that time! "sorry mate but we like going to pub on a Friday and we don't think someone your age would fit in" etc). I carried on playing at home and eventually got an audition for my current band and we have been going strong for two years now. Just hang in there and like the other posters have said, play along to good music and you will be fine
This is good advice. Im inbetween bands now, but eventually you WILL find what YOU want. Just give it some time, and dont give up!

I still havent found a 5 string im 100% happy with. The Lakkie neck is great, but the SR5 neck is also nice. I am going to give the search a rest for now. Im quite tempted by the new EB MM Classic Series Stingray 5.

I think with three TC cabs the head is allowed to run at just above 2 ohms, but because TC designed the cabinets, and they know their exact, you are only allowed to use three TC cabs. If its another manufacturer, the standard 4 ohms minimum applies. If you ask me, they are a very good price, and they still have the proper ceramic thump. Ive heard + and - about which combination to use, but despite the 'dont mix drivers' argument, the 210 + 212 sounds fantastic. I have gone for 2 2x10 for now as I want to have a vertical 4x10, (the more punch side of things). I would like an RS212 to mix with them....but thats further down the line. TBH, at £469 for the 2x12, thats REALLY cheap.

Can some one explain the whole Musicman, Stingray, Sterling thing
Musicman20 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Bass Guitars
Im guessing the new Classic Series Rays are the old 2 band EQ design and the same principles apply? -
TBH I think an Orange Bass Terror is much cheaper and fairly similar option, you just dont get the built in USA by Mesa feel to it. Bass Terror + awesome 2x12 = probably a better deal.
These look great, guess the only decision is 2x210 or 210 & 212 The combos seem more pricey than separates, is it the same head just housed in the enlarged cabinet?
I ordered 2 x 210 but I'm in two minds whether to get a 212!

You will find if you want the same volume, eg 2 Berg 112s, as the Shroeder 1212L, you will have to pay a fair bit more. Its upto you on what you can afford I guess. The 1212L, if you get a well made one, is a very loud small cab! The Bergs are much more polite in their sound, and I dont think ive yet seen bad QC on a Berg. As always in life, well mostly, you get what you pay for. Id still like two AE112s...
Even with the bigger Schroeders - which are supposed to sound wider than the small boxes - I never really got any 'real' bottom from my 410L or 21012L. It worked for some situations, but I missed the supporting bottom end. At the time, I was doing a lot of gigs with various decent cabs provided by the promoters, and I realised I was missing something fundamental (if you excuse the pun). As soon as I tried the Bergs, there it was... a 3D quality to each note that I'd been pining for all that time. If you're cutting through dense mix, I think the Schro's would be worth trying. If you've got room to breathe (or even not!) I think the Bergs might be more up your alley. Bergantino - reassuringly expensive. ...so buy used.
+1....if you can buy used, do. Usually the owners will be very careful with them cabs due to the cost of them!
Just to add the the CL vs AD200B, I had the same decision, and as you can see from my sig the Orange won. Oh and if you play heavy metal, Norma Jean, Cancer Bats and Converge to name a couple, use the AD200B
+1..... Even Alkaline Trio have started using them. Also, Every Time I Die had one through an Aguilar DB810.
