The Staus neck and the 78 at the back are 2 band. I haven't tried the HH but Im not sure i like the look, thats not the only reason, i wouldnt buy a bass on looks alone but i really like the sound out of the single H it gives me everything i need and has more depth and cut than i need. Combined with a programmable sansamp and subtle finger position and dynamic playing changes i have all i need. Saying that, I wouldnt rule out trying or buying one if i liked them. Have you got one? is it much different/better than the H? Cheers Dave
The HS is definitely a nice configuration...the single coil options allow a lot of flexibility.

Ive picked up a Squier CV 60s Jazz for £230.... Looking forward to it.

TecAmp Puma 112 bass combo amp
Musicman20 replied to steviedee's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Even though GG were offering the TecAmp stuff at silly prices, the quality of the product hasn't changed. The perceived value of something is a funny thing...
I love the Tecamp stuff, and Im gutted I didnt get one of these. The cabs are flat out awesome. The amps Ive never tested much but I can imagine they are brilliant. I agree, its perceived value....and guitarguitar have unfortunately had an effect on it (not outside BChat though lol). -
I have left but will be rejoining the Stingray/MM family soon. Classic Series Stingray 4 and Stingray 5 HS on order.

So, Im going to get one of these. Im swaying towards the Mono..the only thing that might put me off is that it has metal parts...and I have no idea if these are touching the instrument and will end up scratching it?! I havent seen one in the flesh, so im not sure. I heard about the confusing Comfort Strap/Comfort Strapp problem where one of them snapped on a few owners. Which one was it?! Can anyone recommend one for me? Pleaseeee Thanks

Hmm.....ex guitarguitar sale? Unfortunately even though I love Tecamp, their brand has been devalued by that sale. These were £350 new! -
Anyone have the Supergrass article from Bass Player?
Hmm, I think you might need to describe how the parametric settings are changed above and beyond what is available through the front panel. Otherwise I still don't understand what the benefits of extra eq. tweakability in a gigging environment might be. Otherwise three user settings = three models of bass.
Basically, and this is all I know, you could more than likely change the amp to sound almost Markbass like by adding extra high end (the RH450 only gives you so much high end on the front panel. Thats one big change. The others, like being able to tweak the inner workings of the Spectracomp, and not just set the level, are going to be quite interesting as well. Say you like the RH450, but you really want a setting on your PC/Mac for those more modern /crisp/clear bass tone,s (you can nearly get it at the moment, but its more vintage voiced) you could plug it in, allow a lot more high end and sparkle than the front panel gives you, then use it. Then you can change it back if you like. Its not for everyone, just those who really want to tweak and have ultimate flexibility.
I have to say that I'm really happy with how they have voiced the RH450, which I preferred over the Stacatto '51 I tried. I'm guessing what would be most useful would be to get my favourite setting and reset this as 'flat' with regard to control settings - but not sure if I would like to do this either. Notwithstanding what I think it is good that the manufacturer is engaging with the users of their gear and not just looking for big name endorsee's.
Me too, the RH450 flat is more my thing cf to the Staccato, but having a setting with a much brighter high end would be fun! Not that I use much high end, but it would be nice to have the option. I think what they are saying is it opens up the options even more. Who knows what it will lead to. They have no set idea as yet, we are just testing to see what happens. Perhaps it will be an additional 'extra' for the RH450 owners to choose if they want.

Has anyone ever been asked to pay to get into their own gig?
Musicman20 replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
I know that in the now very unethical punk scene, I've heard promoters ask bands to pay for the privilege of playing on a lineup with their favourite bands. I refused flat out...and once I informed the headlining band they were disgusted. -
Exactly what I use...I don't like drilling/putting new screws in for straplocks. Thing is these do work!

Dave youll be happy to know I went for White/Tort/Rosewood/H+S on the Ray 5 order. I decided against Sunburst despite liking it. The white suits the curves of the Ray 5 really well. I know what you mean, my first bass was black with a white scratchplate and now I dont like that combination hahah. Now the wait starts....a long wait! Let me know how you get on with the Group III flats and how they compare to the Chromes. Im getting strings with my Classic thrown in and its one of those two. -
So you're only going to be able to work on the basis of very general parameters for the basic colouring of the amp?
These are the areas you can tweak on the first version.... Full parametric Tone control section (Bandwidth, Gain, Freq, all four bands) Overall Lowpass filter – Internally known as TweeterTone and much discussed on TB Full access to the three band SpectraComp parameters – Thrs, Attack, Release etc. for all three bands (yes it’s a lot ;- Storing/recalling of tweaked settings on your computer – which also means easy exchange of settings between you guys And finally change of selected parameter defaults on the amp
I'm a little puzzled as to how someone is going to tweak the settings for live use without having a laptop on stage during soundcheck.
I think the thinking behind it is so people can totally change the flat settings beyond the semi-parametric EQ. One of the main requests is for the option of more high end/sparkle, which mean basically before you gig, you plug it in, tweak it, then use it...and you still have your 3 presets and semi para EQ to change it live.

Hi guys. I'm VERY excited to be announcing this. Uffe Hansen at TC Electronic has invited 5 TalkBass users to particpate in a test group for the RH450 and an internal beta version of a PC application that allows the user to access internal settings on the Preamp. The connection between the RH450 to the PC is facilitated by a special USB-to-Midi cable that connects to the "Remote" port on the back panel of the RH450. The users who were invited are: KJung Vic Tom7 Musicman20 (me!) Eublet None of us are endorsers, but we have been very enthusiastic about the RH450 for a while now, and have rambled on at length in many threads here about these heads, the potential they provide, and how we would like to be able to adjust this or that under the hood. Uffe and TC have noticed this so they're going to let us give it a go. We have freedom to post our discussions here, and hopefully to get ideas for things to try from others. So please participate in the discussion with us. We can not however share the Tweaker PC application with anyone so please don't ask! I want to give a very special thanks to Uffe and TC Electronic for asking us to particpate and provide feedback. This is the kind of thing you want to see from a manufacturer as it shows they care about what their users are interested in. So many here have made suggestions and Uffe has noticed them. So here we go! HERE is a link the the Talkbass thread where the discussions are going to take place: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=652395 Below is a partial cut and paste from an email Uffe sent us which explains a few things about what we're doing.
Originally Posted by Uffe Hansen via email to test group The Gear As mentioned in my earlier mail, I will send you a test amp and the equipment to hook up the Amp Tweak software. I will send more specific instructions for the amp tweaker shortly, but overall it is a pretty simple Control software hooked up to the RH450 via a USB-MIDI interface and a special MIDI split cable connected to the ‘remote’ connector on RH450. The Tweaker The Tweaker is a subset of a development tool that we’ve been using internally since the initial RH450 prototypes passed audio. We’ve cleaned it up a bit to not make it overly complicated. This first version allows you access to: Full parametric Tone control section (Bandwidth, Gain, Freq, all four bands) Overall Lowpass filter – Internally known as TweeterTone and much discussed on TB Full access to the three band SpectraComp parameters – Thrs, Attack, Release etc. for all three bands (yes it’s a lot ;- Storing/recalling of tweaked settings on your computer – which also means easy exchange of settings between you guys And finally change of selected parameter defaults on the amp The test aim My intention with this test is to start an open discussion on what makes sense for bass players both from a sound and tone perspective, but also in potentially opening the Amp Tweaker up to more players out there. We don’t have a specific target in terms of product release, end date or features that we need to reach, but hey maybe we will find some underway! In other words; we simply wanted to gain some input for new angles and ideas for bass players at the front end of the development process rather than lurking at forums and making all decisions ourselves. This of course also means that I cannot promise the outcome of the test, so no guarantees on where this will end up. That said, I am personally VERY excited about this and convinced that we will find some cool new stuff that we can get out there. Confidentiality – The Amp Tweaker is basically an internal tool and not a product for re-sale. Our test is fully official and you are free to discuss this with anybody out there.

TBH didn't try the MB for long tbh, just didn't seem right, am going back when I have more time to line 'em up and compare better. Got some good overdriven tones out of the MB, but didn't feel that the clarity was there on any of the settings I used, but again it was only a quick tryout. The GB seemed easier to get the tone / variety of tone that I need.
Ah, it seems from your test the Genz might be for you They are super crisp and clear.
-
Personally, the Shuttle 6.0 lacks it for me, and so did the 9.0. Thats just me though. Some players love the totally crisp Genz sound. It seemed less full than I was used to in the low end. I prefer the more warm full tone of the Mark Bass amps....how was the 'distortion' on the LM Rocker?

Can someone recommend me a strap.....
Very nice black/brown vintageness there.....! Who are Mono anyway? sounds like a bargain.
I didnt know they existed until I looked for a proper lightweight but strong case, (one of the new hybrid types). All I can say is the gig bag/case is incredibly well made and very high attention to detail. Super useful, and light/strong. Expensive, but worth it.
Thanks! Like Musicman20 says, they make amazing gig bags (and straps). I'm GAS-ing for the M80: http://www.monocase.com/mono-bass-guitar.asp
Yep those are the Mono products. The strap even has a pick holder! How cool is that?! Im waiting for the stock to come in then Im ordering one. -

Musicman20 replied to cameltoe's topic in Accessories and Misc
I think Im off for a Mono one....£29.95 from Strings Direct (incl postage). Their cases are amazing, and the strap has, from the description, no plastic. I imagine it will be really good. Just waiting for stock. -
One of the nicest Sadowsky's Ive seen! Congrats. Im with you...if I ever found a Sadowsky that was right for me, I wouldnt shell out the now daft UK prices on the Metros. Id wait and seek a NYC.

Nice! How are you liking the RS212?
-
I am also a worrier with basses. Two fine examples are the two stingrays I just sold to get two more stingrays, (albeit more varied models). They were ding free...but I should have used them more. If you have your own transport and the pub isn't too tightly packed, take a nice bass and don't drink! Stands are the best idea, or straight into a quality case. My problem now is I don't have a backup or workhorse. One of my Ps was going to take that place, but they are both too lovely to be heavily gigged, IMO. That's why I'm getting a Squier CV Jazz or Precision asap.
