1.
The Jazz is the more resonant out of the 3, superb clear and loud, the 50's Precision is orgasmic to play, I am not kidding you, it reaches deep within you with warmth, the 60's Precision is perfectly period reminescent and with the new pickup it cuts through the muddiest of mixes, you can keep the volume down but you can't fail to recognise it thumping away with a distinctive tone and voice, I wouldn't give any of them up, I love all 3 of them in a different way. Oh and I've got quite a range of quality basses including a Stingray 5, a Bongo 5, and a Musicman Ernie Ball 25th Anniversary, but when it comes to the vintage vibe the 3 Squiers are the dog's danglies.
Ah yes! We discussed the Ray 5s...dont you have a Big Al coming?! Thats going to be awesome.... Have you got a preference on the rosewood vs maple on Stingrays? I think if I go Classic Vibe itll be the Jazz...
 2.
Yeah mate and they are lovely too, a breeze to p,lay, and as for your question, It hangs perfectly, does not neck dive not even when playing sitting down, it balances well on your leg. Try one mate or if you are ever in London, get in touch. here are my Squier beauties in all their splendor: 50's Precision 60's Precision 60's Moo-Mooo Jazz
Bloomin heck the whole set! Which is best....the Jazz or Red Precision? Both are very tempting...
 3.
Yes, I've thought of one as these as a backup, but I really can't justify it - I have six electric basses as it is! Shhhhhhhhhhh!
Ah! Yes, I have a lot of changes going on at the moment bass wise, but I could really do with a 'cheap but decent' option. £250 is about my max really. It would just give me peace of mind when im rehearsing and ive got to get the Metro all the time.
 4. Thanks Rich! Im fairly tempted by the Oly White Jazz CV 60s as a backup as ive seen them for £249....cannot go wrong with that price. As long as I can play it alright, the rest will do.
 5. Where is the cheapest place these are coming up? Instead of getting a second hand backup I might just get one of these and leave the electrics as they are. Im not fussed if they arent perfect electrics wise, as long as they dont weigh a tonne and are pretty good QC wise im happy. if I want perfect tone ill use one of my USA ones...but I can see why people want to upgrade the parts!
 6.
Brilliant pics Rich - very useful. I would be tempted by a natural Jazz 4. Also very useful review Andy. I've seen comments here and on Talkbass about pickup noise and heaviness (as in up to 10 lbs). I've also heard from Soundslive.co.uk that the initial batch of deluxes have been recalled due to the wrong finish being applied. Don't know if that's just dealer BS (apologies to all dealers!) or if there's something going on. I would be very interested in one of these, but I don't have the time to visit every dealer to find one that's the right weight (around 8.5 lbs would be good) and that doesn't have significant earthing issues. Would be great if Fender upped their consistency and QA, and if they screened as standard (would it really cost that much if made part of a standard production process?). On an instrument with such a good basic design spec it seems sad that Fender can't go the extra yard or two to make it really exceptional. Still I suppose that's how they drum up business for the Custom Shop. Dust clouds willing there may be a few more in the country before too long.
I think their initial run was rushed...looking at the reviews on tbass. I think its always best to leave it 6 months just to see how things go. They could really 'nail' the superjazz market it they get these right. Not being shielded and high weights keep me from wanting one now. There are obviously diamonds in the rough though, as per the review above.
 7. I went to Soundslive today and they have some new Markbass combos in. Ive seen them 'in the flesh' now and I must admit, the quality of build is stunning. I would definitely consider a new Markbass combo, albeit it one of the small 112s I think.
 8. Have you got the measurements for a modern Stingray 4 standard neck? Im sure their site must have it. Then you can 'sort of' visualise if the standard EB MM Stingray 4 neck is for you. BTW, I measured my action on my now sold bass....its 3mm a 12th fret...approx. For me feels really fast, but it will go lower as the bridge pieces arent set ultra low. I played it for a little while just to see how much im going to miss it (and I am ) and the neck does feel a little smaller than a Precision, but not quite Jazz. If you are certain on a SLO neck, 2 band EQ, I reckon going ew will be £1100 ish maybe a little more in standard colours. Cheers and good luck! The DD will sell if it needs to.
 9.
Cant help with the colour other than to say i hate sunbursts but ive been wondering, can you get a SR5 with a different shaped scratch plate. More like the SR4 one? The White one with tort does look nice though.
The Stingray 5 Classic has the normal style Ray 4 plate! But, Im one of the weirdos who actually likes the Ray 5 with a different plate hahah. Hmm....colour is a bugger. Im so vain.
 10.
Being cynical, is that because Mark doesn't sell Aguilar but does sell Berg ? Have a look on Talkbass, there's a guy there called KJung who's really knowledgeable. He's tried pretty much every amp/cab combination that you can imagine. I've read loads of times that GS12's match really well with the F1 head.
Yep, KJung is great for gear knowledge! It all depends on the budget and tone goal. You are less likely to lose a lot of money if you sell on some GS112s as they aren't hugely expensive anyway.
 11. Bright, with lots of clarity.
 12.
It's very sneaky really - some retailers have been listing these as 'in stock' @ £370 for the past month but are now quoting £450. That's blatent profiteering as they've simply added £80 to the price of old stock that they'd purchased before the price rise! Some of them are even advertising at £370 but quote the new price if you contact them. . .
Thats absolutely ridiculous. Im guessing it might be due to the new finish on the cabs (which admittedly is much better) and the popularity, hence the price rise. The old stock should be sold at the original price. Sorry for the off topic part! Good luck with this sale.
 13.
I've just come over all 1951
WOW!
 14.
Well. You would have to try the amp before you buy it right? So,what i would recommend for trying: -Orange AD200,obvious choice. -Ampeg SVT of any kind.(You try anyone of the 300w tubeheads, just to see if you like it,and be sure to buy an American made) -If you get a chance to try a Matamp it might work too. Lots of people say Matamp sound great,BUT,also, lots of people have have had them tweaked to their liking. So one doesn't have to sound the same as the other. My point.Listen to what you like, and buy that.Choose ONLY from what you have heard/tried your self.(With your bass and your finger so to speak)
This is good advice, choose what speaks to you in terms of tone. Ampeg doesnt do it for me, although Id still love a proper vintage SVT. The Orange IS right for me, as it has stacks of warmth, good looks, 8 ohm capability, plug in and play tone, brilliant tube grind at low levels.
 15. It might make a small difference to know the Classic Ray 4 I have on order is Classic White/Tort/Maple...
 16. Thanks!
 17. Whoops forgot to put the link there! Fixed
 18. They ain't bad, but I bet that's well hammered.
 19.
Price sound very fair to me, considering there now selling for £899 online TC Electronics have really jacked up the price in the last couple of weeks
+1, those early deals are now over. Amp is now £899 new and cabs are more in line with other manufacturers prices, so this is a bargain. I played with mine again tonight and I absolutely love it. Good luck with the sale.
 20. Great 'soundclips' on this German review. I have no idea what the review says but the clips are some of the best examples out there. http://www.bonedo.de/test/gitarre-bass/tc-...ntro/index.html
