1. Still umming and ahhing. Bloomin heck.
 2. I would definitely try everything before you buy with any cabinet. Its definitely the best way of going about it.
 3.
I must admit the Orange does take my fancy and if they are as good as people (yourself included) say then I'm leaning that way. I've been told that the guys at Rooz Studios in Old St in London have got a couple of BT's and the SP212 cabs so i'll get them to drag one out for when I next go there. As for cabs, i quite like the idea of trying a Barefaced Compact 1x15, i currently tend to use the Trace combo on it's own and just drag out the extra cab when I want more grunt or I want to show off (sad eh? even at my age), I could sell the combo and keep the Trace extension cab for then. I also have an 8 ohm Celestion neoprene-thingy 15 incher sitting in a cheap PA cab which could be brought into play, the Cab is CRAP, i used it for a gig once and it just flapped about like Muddy Mudskipper!! I'm sure the cabs fault not the speaker but I could try that in the extension cab to lighten that. Thanks for the advice (this goes for all the replies ;o) Cheers Tone
No worries. As always, make sure you test. No matter what everyone recommends you may not like it!
 4. .88 Dunlops (Green) for the majority, but recently as Ive started using slightly thicker strings, Ive opted for a pack of the 0.60 (Orange) Dunlops. These are for use when im playing im my punk band....and I need that extra little bit of give in the pick. We play VERY fast, and sometimes the .88 really feels like its going to snap the strings! Anything thicker/heavier just feels a little too awkward for me.
 5. I got lucky. The band I joined have a big enough practice PA so I dont even need an amp for practice, (although I would take one if I wasn't on the Metro late at night). I drive but I don't need a car up here where I'm based so both myself and the girlfriend sold them. Best investment is a quality DI/effects DI like Sansamp or the Tonehammer. I got by on being friendly and enthusiastic. They even have a cheap backup bass I sometimes use if the weather is poor on rehearsal nights. Don't give up. A good bassist is more than a car and amp Once you settle in, I'd suggest a nice lightweight amp like Bass Terror/LM2 or 3....etc.
 6.
Maybe there's an element of truth in that, but I disagree that it's the primary objective, because: A ) There's no guarantee it's going to get released to the market - they've made that clear from the start. B ) The people involved were giving it enough publicity as it is - if they were after more publicity, surely they'd give it to people who weren't yet engaged..? C ) As far as I'm aware, it came about as a result of the thread on TB, where KJung & co. said 'wouldn't it be nice if...?' - and lo - it happened... D) Have you seen KJung's analysis of stuff? I can barely think if a better candidate... Personally, I think it's good that TC are involving real bass players in their R&D....
This is basically it. KJung is very critical of every aspect, and if he doesnt like it, he will say so. Not one of us gaining anything out of this, we just enjoy the amp and the possibilities. Yes, I agree, its mainly the busy posters on talkbass, but thats the point, we all not only know a lot about the amp but also know what extra we would like out of it. Vic is also great at these reviews. Myself and the other chaps are more everyday players but we know what we like.
 7.
Got the bank involved, hopefully I'll get my money back at least.
Has the basschatter ignored you completely? How odd...
 8.
True, true... I'm one of the people who think TC got the parameters right first time, but I can see why some people might want more sparkly sizzle..
+1, im not for lots of sizzle, and the RH sounds right to me as it is, but Im a sucker for options! A tiny bit more high end might be nice for certain styles.
 9.
I've only just realised the irony of this expression. End of what? You didn't finish your sentence, it's missing the end!
Hahaha, good point. If Mr T likes the sound, thats its, nothing else to worry about. Plus they look great!
 10.
Finished! .... and sounding good.
Very professional! Thats better than some of the cabinet finishes Ive seen that are actually on sale to the public. Nice
 11. If you like the sound, end of
 12.
I should have picked up on this on the TB thread, but I can't find it... is this a modded version of the head, or a stock RH450?
Ill get some pictures up. Apparently it is the same amp, but they have sent 'test' units so we dont have to use our own. It looks like ones they use in the office for testing eg not ones they would sell at retail...
 13.
I prfer the old style myself. I don't like how the paint on the headstock finishes before the nut. It looks more like my Ray34. Maybe Lakland are using the cheaper side of the Cort factory now ;-)
Totally agree. It also hasnt got that slight boutique factor to it, (despite the fact they were made in substantial numbers).
 14. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k229/kom...ewwalkabout.jpg Apparently it came out last year, so Im late to the party and this may have been discussed before. I have no idea what they have changed.
 15.
I almost understood that...
Im a computer noob; I dont really know that much about how this all works, but Im getting there. Basically, a cable goes from the back of the RH450 (the remote footswitch port) into your computer via USB. Thats it, then the program does the rest.
 16.
You got your order in for the 5 string yet Gareth lol. This complicates things a bit doesn't it?
Hahah, luckily I am definite on EB 5 strings now. It took me a while, and I had to wait to be able to test, but the EB neck and B does work for me, (THANKFULLY!).
 17. My software has been emailed, the amp and cable has arrived, and now I just need to find some time t have a good fiddle, especially with the high end. I know a fair few amount of players would buy this amp if it opened up at the high end (personally I like it how it is, but if you ant Markbass-type sizzle, it can be done with this software). There are a few clips up by KJung on youtube. Link to one of them here, (the rest can be found here also): http://www.youtube.com/Kjungbass Unfortunately I dont have the technology to be able to actively compare on a video like Ken has, but Im hoping at some point to basically do two different videos, and let one be the amp flat, no changes, and the other with the high end tweaked. Although Ken's example definitely works, (I suggest headphones and no background noise, with a fairly high volume).
 18. I was wrong, but close...its the top horn as stated above. Yep, it doesnt look right. I hope and imagine they have tested for balance...we shall see. My instinct is that the original Lakland DJ is more desirable.
 19.
So what you're saying is give it a while and there'll be another Tecamp-style glut! Oh Goodie!
Probably... I have nothing against them, but they arent bass specialists so in my eyes its a bad idea to have them being the sole stockists. Ive discussed this before with JTUK on here; usually one sole distributor leads to chaotic high pricing. I have bought a fair few bits from them before, but they dont understand the fact that some basses can be wonderful, and some can be undesirable, depending on whether the manufacturer got it right with that instrument. Therefore, they tend to refuse ordering another in.
 20. That Deluxe must have been something to give up the Holy Grail of Precision tone!
 21.
You would sell this now. It's almost too nice to pass up. But I'm commited elsewhere. Drat.
+1...I'm trying to tell myself 3 Ps is FAR too many.
 22. Something about the bottom horn doesn't look right but that's probably just the mockup. Guitarguitar were not very helpful on the Lakland front, and wouldn't order in anything else. They also said the weight of the JO5 I tried was high because the wood was 'such high quality'. A retailer as a sole distributor is not a good thing usually.
 23. I think it's a good idea to keep this bass in their catalogue! Is this officially released or incoming?
