I really liked the Aguilar preamp in the been round the block Valenti 042 when I owned it. (Think it was an OBP1) Passive, that bass sounded great but the preamp was that and Then much more and was on pretty much 99% of the time.

Blowout deal Tribute L-2000 arrived from Thomann yesterday morning. Can't say it feels that much different at all from the USA L-2000 I sold last December. Really nice bass, especially considering the rockbottom price I paid for it. pics:

Thanks for the heads up Tom, I've just bought one of the blueburst/maple L2Ks this morning. I noticed they've got sunburst/rosewood L2Ks and the JB-2s either in sunburst/maple or natural/rosewood all for about £45 more which is still an incredible deal. I could have easily bought a sunburst JB-2 instead. No gig bag with them though :-( Shame as the Tributes normally ship with nice quality bags

I cant say if noticed any unwanted noise with the Jag. I normally play it in passive mode with the tone backed off slightly but today I cranked up the volume on the combo at home, engaged the active switch and turned up the treble on the circuit and it didn't seem to be noisy. seems earthed well enough too. one thing I have noticed is the bridge J has a different sound from the one on my Jazz bass I just sold. Being that bit nearer the bridge, (70's spacing?) to my ears it's a bit more wiry sounding and biting, not so sweet. Not sure if I like this sound so much but I like the neck and twin pickup tones and overall its a very versatile bass with a great neck and is that bit different from either a J or a P just had a lengthy play on the Stingray this evening. absolutely love it! Think I'll be looking for a USA Sterling soon again at this rate :-)

Took delivery of my new 2EQ Stingray and it's got me back playing musicman again so very happy. However I will need to outlay more cash in the future as the plan has always been to get a status graphite neck for it somewhere down the line I also got a MIJ Jaguar bass a couple of weeks back so seemed like a good time to get a pic of them both together

I had Stingray GAS but within the last hour I've just ordered a brand spanking new black 2EQ from Hartnoll guitars. Been a year without a Musicman. A year too long.

His playing on Roxy Music's 'Mother of Pearl' from the Stranded album is outstanding imo. Busy but never detracting from the song, always complimentary. He played some great stuff across a few Roxy Music albums.Inspirational player imo

All options on mine were pre determined. The Legacy Std was just a Legacy that was made from three pieces of alder rather than two. The only finishes were Lake placid Blue, candy Apple red, white and Fullerton red. The guitars came with matching headstocks, aged plastic parts and came in a G&L gig bag rather than case. The frets were medium jumbo on a 12" radius board. iirc the neck was a C shape but felt quite big and clubby. Pickups were Alnico 5 single coils and the tremolo was the standard G&L fully floating fulcrum system and was rock solid with no issues returning to pitch. The guitar came with the usual case candy and all the documentation including certificate of authenticity were included. The Standards were only produced for a few years I believe. I bought mine direct from a dealer in the States via Ebay. I traded it for a very Pino(ish) 2EQ Stingray fretless so I had no problems at the time letting it go after having owned it 4 years. Trouble is I've often wished I still had it now.

Doh! I should have recognised your username. Been a long time.... Ah yes the Asat Special. I preferred the tone of that one to anything else I had at the time and did a fair bit of recording at home with that guitar. The Invader XL Std was another guitar I had a soft spot for and a really underrated guitar...like G&Ls version of hardtail Wolfgang Special. I actually had the Legacy Std, the Asat Special and the Invader XL all at the same time. Then decided to get married and off they went to the wedding fund :-( The only thing I managed to hold onto was my Ovations. In time I will hopefully get more G&Ls and a Musicman or two. Like most of us I am a creature of habit and old habits die hard!! I am sure you will love your S500. Did you go for any options eg binding, neck tint? Keir

Amongst a couple of Asats and Invader XL 6 stringers I also owned a Fullerton red Legacy Std for a couple of years before selling it to schnozalee on here. It was a lovely guitar, very light on the shoulder with a voice and a vibe of its own even though it looked like another regular Strat. Sound wise the pickups were vintage sounding and the PTB passive treble and bass controls were really nice to use. The S500 had a different tone with the MFD single coils and the micro switch but still has the PTB controls I think. I love G&Ls even though I don't own any at the moment and I would gladly trade one of my Fenders + cash for a Legacy or S500. Enjoy yours when it gets to you :-)

Jamie bought my Squier Classic Vibe jazz bass last week. He paid quickly and was a nice chap to deal with. Would deal with him again in the future

Not showing on their web pages anymore. Cheapest I can see the sunburst is £649 from GAK but I see a black one at Kennys music for £499. Tempting.......

Bass playing friend of mine has just bought one of these exactly the same as this one. I've had a play on it and was pretty smitten with it. Really lovely neck, great range of tones and impeccable fit and finish. These were never on my radar before but definitely are now. I've just sold my Jazz too.hmmmm........

My new Breedlove Atlas solo. (the one with the soundhole on the side) Cedar/Mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard. Bottom picture is with my main gigging bass these days, a 1991 USA Ovation B768 Elite bass, bought at the tail end of last year off Scooby from this parish. Squier classic vibe jazz bass bought on this forum this time last year. Well gigged by its previous owner and It has done a fair number with myself too but I'm now only playing electro-acoustic basses with my band so this is sat doing nothing really. The bass has a fair number of dings and small knocks, nothing serious. The headstock was refinished before I got the bass and on close inspection isn't the most professional job on the planet but you have to be close up to notice that. One of the bushings on the tuners is different from the others. The chrome control plate has tarnished too. The bass has been fitted with MEC Dynamic Correction J/J pickups taken from a German Warwick Corvette iirc. These sound great on this bass. On the headstock is a set of Schaller open ear tuners. the pickguard is of unknown origin. The bass comes with a functional gig bag and would be well packed in a shipping box for transit. I am not looking for trades as I am looking to part pay for my recently aquired Breedlove fretless £195

Congrats on ordering up an AL.The Albert Lee guitar is such a wickedly good shape. I don't have any experience of the HH with a rosewood neck but I did have an original pinkburst with the three Duncan Alnico single coils. I miss that particular guitar ^^Nice seeing the Axis SuperSport and Asat Special too. Both great guitars too
