  1. Man, that’s rough. Sorry to hear. Looking forward to a new bass arrival only to get that letdown would peeve me immensely. Are you having a replacement same model or refund out of interest?
  2. Wasn’t from me tbh. I just wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation to be absurd.
  3. Suggest alternatives to what they should be playing. Then what they should be wearing. Then what they should be driving. Then where they should be living. Then what they should do for a living. Hopefully they’ll get the message then. That’d be my reaction anyway...
  4. Favourite - Neil Young plus Old Black every time. Also J. Mascis. Least favourite - Shrill, toppy metal tones.
  5. For me the Harley Benton shortie mentioned above or, depending on the kid’s age a Danelectro Longhorn can be picked up cheap enough if you scout about. They’re stupidly light and offer a capable and non-cumbersome starting point. Seems to be fine for getting my 9 year old comfortable to the overall ‘feel’ of a bass anyhoo.
  6. It’s a great pedal and as you allude to there are a range of sounds from very interesting to mouth agape as you tweak away. I ended up moving mine on, but only because it takes up a fair bit of board real estate and was only an ‘occasionally on’ pedal in the context of my band. So much fun to be had with it though. And yes, the touch with the teeth is v. cool. Enjoy!
  7. Dunno how common this still is but most bands I’ve played with in most situations on a bill one band (usually the headliner but not always) provides a bass cab for shared usage, each bassist then brings their own amp. Same for guitarists. That’s an arrangement I’m still largely happy with - I’ll let others use my cab at a push if needed, but not my amp. With how cheap, portable and pretty damn good a whole slew of class D amps are these days there seems little excuse for each bassist to not take their own.
  8. I always take a backup. Though I’ve needed one twice from memory in 25 years of gigging. To be honest it’s more for my own peace of mind as, while the chances of me needing to break it out are minimal, it’d always be on my mind to one degree or another if I didn’t have one there just in case.
  9. Base price doesn’t seem bad at all, but yeah the extra charges can be a killer on the offshore stuff. I’m glad I wasn’t as close to temptation as you were though, not sure head would’ve won over heart!
  10. Always enjoy DJ. Listened to the album through a couple of times and it’s no exception.
  11. Yep, as per above. The current ‘equivalent’ is the 59DC short scale.
  12. I’m on 7 at the moment, which is the most I’ve ever had at one time. They all perform a function though. That said, I could easily be happy enough with one of them in particular. I see nothing wrong with being a ‘one bass’ player at all, particularly if you’re not playing in a band (where a backup is always a good idea). I’d be led by one thing only myself - do you LOVE any of your current three? If so you may regret moving it on. If you just, well, ‘like’ them all and don’t feel massively attached then personally I wouldn’t hold back from going for it.
  13. Fancied a scratchplate change. Don’t think the mint green did much for the colour of the bass. The red tort works better to my eye. Looks less bland if nowt else...
  14. Have dabbled in a live setting and may go back to it. The TC Ditto is a decent starting place, or at least I found it to be. Very easy to use and that’s the best thing you can have in a first looper I reckon.
  15. Still makes me emotional after all this time.
  16. Durst is a real teacher. This was another gem of his of course. Thanks for the ‘math’. One, two, three times two to the six Jolts in for your fix with the Limp Bizkit mix
  17. There’s a favourite knowingly bad rhyme of mine too, from Mr. Knowitall by Primus... They call me Mr. Knowitall I am so eloquent. Perfection is my middle name And whatever rhymes with eloquent.
  18. This from American Life by Madonna. And she raps it, to a fashion. Disgraceful. I'm drinking a Soy latte I get a double shotay It goes right through my body And you know I'm satisfied I drive my mini cooper And I'm feeling super-dooper Yo they tell I'm a trooper And you know I'm satisfied I do yoga and pilates And the room is full of hotties So I'm checking out the bodies And you know I'm satisfied
  19. As you’re new to bass I’d personally think about getting something similar (body shape, pickups, neck width etc) to what you play at home. Might make life a fair bit easier for you when you’re in either location.
  20. The weight of the negativity and sniping over there has probably crashed the server.
  21. I’m sure a T-Bird player with more info will be along soon with more to this, but at the very least the cheaper one is a bolt on neck with Epi pickups, crappy 3 point bridge etc, whereas the vintage pro has a thru-neck, probucker pickups and a far better bridge. Design wise, the vintage pro is a repro of (I think) a ‘63 T-Bird so has an oversized headstock etc. All in all a LOT more bass.
